  1. Very happy with how we saw the game out. Could’ve been 4-0 on another day. I think the subs were clever and were clearly made as we decided to hold the lead rather than expand on it. Ayala made us look much more solid, nice to see Dack and Vale doing their bit for the team too.
  2. Nice goal that. Brilliant ball again by Wharton. We could’ve been 2 up already before that in all honesty. Need to keep the ball up their end and we’ll score a few. We don’t look quite so solid at the back today, but that’s to be expected with the changes.
  3. Not keen on the change of formation and especially don’t like the idea of Travis as a full back. Still hopeful we can get all three points though.
  4. I’m sure it’s because they are still looking for an opportunity to close the Riverside down at the earliest opportunity.
  5. I skipped quite a lot of this up until the couple of minutes he discussed Rovers. The thing that really struck me from what I did listen to was his self confidence that strays comfortably into delusion. Massively exaggerated scoring records, mentioned being an international player a lot considering he got just one cap, and basically sees himself as a world class player to this day. He’s only slightly less in cloud cuckoo land on his managerial achievements.
  6. Might not be so simple to get Oasis to reunite to cover a Blur song.
  7. Together - Hardcore Uproar A none too subtle nod to Blackburn’s past as the home of the Rave. I’d like a song with some local connection rather than one which is arbitrarily chosen. Current Blackburn bands the Illicits and the Ruby Tuesdays are brilliant, and I would like to see a song by one of them eventually. Second choice would be Ceremony by New Order. I really like Final Countdown and it evokes wonderful memories for me, so it’s probably best left in the past.
  8. Things might have changed for Van Hecke with the managerial situation at Brighton. I’m surprised he’s featured so little, and if this continues into January I’d definitely like us to put a bid in for him. He’s out of contract at the end of the season, so I’d be trying to do what we did with Hedges. Obviously he’d command a higher fee, but try and get him in quickly as I’m sure he will have offers in the summer and pre-contract opportunities back home. Unlike Mowbray with Hedges I’d get him straight in the side too.
  9. Come on. You surely can’t be mentioning Jack and Venky’s in the same sentence. Your lot celebrate the death of one and sing “long live” about the other. Every right thinking Rovers fan would prefer an alternate reality where Venky’s had never darkened our door.
  10. We’ve definitely only had one, unless you’re going back to mill owners in the 19th century. Venky’s remain a wealthy burden. You lot have been the biggest beneficiaries of their ownership of Rovers!
  11. When we have played well this season we are certainly as good as Burnley when they play well, maybe better. When we play badly we are a lot worse than them when they they have an off day. So it’s simple really, we just need to play well! In all seriousness though, hopefully the non-performances we’ve seen at times so far are hopefully a thing of the past. No reason we can’t get something from this game, but we need to be really at the races.
  12. I haven’t been impressed with any of our stand in right wing backs, so with Hedges and Brittain looking like they are out I’d try another. Either Dolan or Pickering (with Mola coming in on the left). Whatever happened to Dan Pike?
  13. Markanday’s situation isn’t all that surprising considering Mowbray’s obsession with stockpiling wide forwards. In recent games the position has become redundant, but if we were playing a front 3 you’d have Gallagher, Hedges and Dolan all way ahead of Markanday in his favoured position. Hedges is fast becoming a key player and can be used effectively as a wing back, Gallagher seems to be thriving playing in a front two (to the surprise of very few), and Dolan is obviously seen as someone who can be relied upon to bring a bit of energy and do a lot of closing down late on in games. The U21s is the right place for Markanday at present while we figure out how he can contribute to the first team. At present there’s no obvious role for him.
  14. I was impressed with every player today. The way we battled in the second half was magnificent. Hedges was a big miss when he went off, we just lost a bit of balance and it was also right about the time they turned it into a full on aerial bombardment. We could have been out of sight if Diaz hadn’t briefly channelled his inner Brereton and put that shot out for a throw in! Not sure any other player on our books could’ve picked out the bottom corner like Wharton did. Delighted for him and hopefully he’s starting to cement his place as a key player. Hyam immense again and can be forgiven for the momentary lapse for their goal, much better from Travis too. On any other day Gallagher would’ve been MOTM, but Kaminski was outstanding. Could’ve been a perfect day if it wasn’t for Mowbray.
  15. This shouldn’t be understated. Every player who speaks about our success in 1995 all say the same thing. It was a great group of lads, with wonderful team spirit and no egos, all playing for each other and the team. From Bobby Mimms to Alan Shearer, they all say it! The only one they seem to agree on not liking was Richard Witschge who by all accounts was a dick and contributed nothing positive.
  16. Absolutely this. Obviously a drop off in form and league position will lead to plenty of Dack related recriminations, but if we have a successful season he’ll barely get a second thought apart from the odd reminiscence.
  17. That “story” is pretty nothingy… rumour, here say and social media nonsense. With our seasons form so far the Dack issue crops up and disappears on a game by game basis. Objectively you can’t really argue with Tomasson’s stance considering our league position. I’m sure he’s fed up and clearly there is something beyond ability ruling him out of the managers thinking. I’ll be a little bit sad if he does go in January, but it seems it’s in the clubs terms so I won’t be furious like I was with the summer exodus. A bad patch and the questions will be asked again and louder though. Oh, and his girlfriend is making the situation worse.
  18. Yes, against Marker and Rovers if I remember correctly. Didn’t appreciate at the time how bad the tackle was. I’m all for tough challenges, and appreciate players will get injured on occasion as a result, but this was assault. Marker had previous too.
  19. I’d go with that but Garrett in for Travis, although I know It won’t happen. Hedges could prove to be an absolute monster of a wingback. I’ve been impressed with his work rate all season, and there seems to be enough defensive ability for the way we are setting up. Really keen to see him play on his natural foot.
  20. His subs seemed pretty desperate and harked back to his throw enough shit and some will stick approach he favoured with us in lockdown. I didn’t know a lot about most of their squad, but they had some tidy looking players, not least Roberts. Some nice one and two touch stuff in the first half, and some really effective dribbling in the second. Not to worry though, Mowbray will coach all that individuality out of them by the time the World Cup break is over. They will all be learning to play like Cory Evans.
  21. Not at all. Nothing petulant, no silly tackles having lost the ball. Just a solid performance, his positioning was excellent, he read the game well and played nice simple passes.
  22. Some real positives tonight. Garrett with a more mature performance than Travis has ever managed in a blue and white shirt, and celebrating that tackle was class. Hyam an absolute rock at the back. Diaz a bit wasteful, but grafted hard… and what a hit! Hedges and Brittain both showed real quality, and I think they’d have both had a field day playing on their natural sides. They both had a tough time defensively in the latter stages though. Big fan of that ball boy too.
  23. Gallagher absolutely must start centrally. This will completely baffle Mowbray who will hopefully have been telling his left back it’s his job to mark him. The silly sequence stops here I reckon. Comfortable three points. As for Mowbray, it’ll be complete indifference from me. It’s not like his name needs reading out like a player, and he’s no reason to parade himself on the pitch, so along with his usual habit of sitting on the bench looking bored he should be pretty easy to ignore.
  24. Only one team has lost more games than us this season, yet we are only a point off the top. The division is wide open, there doesn’t seem to be any real standout sides and the promotion spots are there for the taking. I’m praying things click soon and we can find some consistency, or rather we can gain points more consistently, More of what we saw in the first half today and it could be a good season!
  25. Proper game of two halves that! Gallagher and Kaminski with heroics either side of half time. We looked so much more balanced from the start with a more conventional formation. Shame about the momentary lapse in concentration that let them back in, just needs better communication there to stop that happening, but it’s 2 players who haven’t been playing regularly. Second half we rode our luck but some good individual defensive moments kept us in it. Few questionable decisions/moments, but I’m too relieved with the win to dwell on them.
