  1. Am I right in thinking this game is now at Leyland? I bought the three ticket deal months ago when it was planned to be played at Ewood. Not sure if the tickets will still be valid, or if I can make it to Leyland on time.
  2. I still think there must have been some last minute change of tack from Venky’s, possibly after someone on the ground at Ewood pleaded a case. One minute we are scratting around trying to find players within a very limited budget and not bringing in a cheap keeper til one goes. All of a sudden we are lining up a move for an in demand premier league player, on high wages, with a big clause, where other championship clubs “couldn’t make the finances work”. Its entirely possible there was some heel dragging, back tracking or back and forth that caused delays.
  3. Deafening silence while the fans work themselves into a frenzy is a poor attempt at softening the blow!
  4. Every transfer window ends up somewhere in between better than feared, and worse than I hoped for. If we sign O’Brien it’ll be better than I expected. If we haven’t signed a striker I won’t be surprised.
  5. O’Brien and the Rochdale young un in, Markanday out apparently.
  6. I was going to say I hope the outcome is the same this time, but that breakfast was probably the high point of Slew’s stay.
  7. This reminds me of when I walked in to Blues bar on the first of September and Jordan Slew was sat there with his agent having breakfast. ”So you’ve signed then Jordan?” ”Fingers crossed. Hope the paperwork went through in time.”
  8. With the rollercoaster of deadline day, and a match, I completely forgot I took this photo this morning… Our merchandise in the totally wicked shop. The only thing I didn’t get in the snap was the few 2018 yellow away mini kits for your car.
  9. IF we get Undav and O’Brien through the door it’s a hell of a turnaround in a few hours. IF they do happen you have to think something has changed, perhaps Broughton has got on the blower to Balaji and explained the concept of promotion and the potential rewards.
  10. I’ve heard Undav back on from a couple of different people.
  11. That’ll teach me to proof read!
  12. Markanday loan makes sense. He’s clearly behind Dolan and needs regular minutes at this stage. Hopefully O’Brien is done and it’s just not been announced yet cos of the game 🤞🤞
  13. I was hoping the match might provide a distraction…. but I suspect it will only further highlight the glaring areas for improvement in the squad. Gallagher nailed on to have an absolute nightmare and Morton with another assist for the opposition.
  14. My expectations of all things Rovers have been through the floor for 12 years. However, the aim should always be promotion. Successive surrenders will be unforgiveable.
  15. If this is true, it’s an absolutely criminal use of funds and blows holes in any future poverty pleading.
  16. Imaging turning down bids for Brereton in the summer, knowing full well he would leave at the end of the season for nothing when finishing in the playoffs isn’t even on the agenda.
  17. I’d love to know how much “not cheap” is. If we are paying significant fees to borrow players it’s another thing making a mockery of the “project”.
  18. I think this is why it’s so frustrating how we surrendered last season when a playoff position should’ve been absolutely nailed on 12 months ago. Realistically you need to be opportunistic and have a degree of good fortune to buck the trend, rather than a project. We aren’t as well placed this year, but another missed opportunity looks likely. Things will change regarding financial distribution down the pyramid, but it needs to be meaningful and not just token. Needs a bit of urgency too.
  19. Absolutely. I know there is a lot of annoyance from the Championship clubs in general about it. Fairer distribution has to happen.
  20. Being under an embargo wouldn’t be much of a punishment for a team that apparently can’t manage to get any signings over the line anyway.
  21. Is this last season’s Joe? It’s always quite tricky to accurately gauge where we are in terms of wages. The only accurate measure is the published accounts and by their nature they are never up to date. We’ve offloaded some big hitters since the last set, so we will be getting nearer to that 70%. Perhaps we might actually be below the 100% mark as things stand currently. That chart shows the issue of parachute payments pretty starkly. Lots of work to do on match day revenues as we know, and our commercial income is massively inflated by slapping Venky logos on everything, hence the lack of urgency from the club to improve that side.
  22. Then there’s the flip side… Starting in mid-December: ”Broughton will have all his targets lined up” ”We’ve interviewed three players already” ”We have a healthy budget” ”Balaji’s special warchest” A week into January: ”You need to be patient” ”Judge the window on the 31st” ”I wouldn’t want any player another club has signed anyway” ”We want to make the right signings, not just signings for the sake of it” Mid January: ”Porteus is crap anyway” ”You complainers are all going to look really stupid come the 31st” ”It’s not the clubs fault they can’t compete with parachute payments” ”We don’t need player X anyway, doesn’t fit the project.” ”You have to question his ambition, deciding to move for a better wage.” A week later: ”If we signed player Y we’d be the next Bury” ”We can’t do anything about losing our players for free or missing out on targets” ”You are all idiots who don’t understand it’s basically impossible to make signings in January” ”You are all unrealistic and expect us to sign Mbappe” ”Plenty of time to go. We only really need one more player anyway, not the 5 I initially stated at the start of the window.” ”We dodged a bullet with player Z. Bad attitude. Markanday is better anyway.” 30th January ”If you all bought more tickets instead of moaning on here maybe we could afford players” ”How can we be expected to compete with the likes of Sunderland and Luton?” ”If I was him, I wouldn’t want to move from the French Riviera to Shadsworth.” ”Broughton shouldn’t be judged until his 3rd full window” ”Screwed over by other clubs” “We have done all we can” Deadline day: ”We aren’t short on numbers. Loaning Edun out opens a pathway cos he’s shit” ”I said back in 2019 that Tommy Nooneseverheardof would be a brilliant loan signing. I watch a lot of Eerstedivisie sides U21s. Just the type of player we need.” ”We are absolutely correct to keep faith with the players who have got us into 5th.” ”Positive window for me. B+.”

  24. I’d take him for the Burnley game.
