I had to watch some of the game again on iPlayer over me cornflakes this morning, mainly to see if some of those referee decisions were actually real...

    Ones that stood out:

Ayari winning the ball with a good strong tackle, free kick to Newcastle

Garrett, great tackle on the line near the dugout, wins the ball cleanly, free kick to Newcastle

Markanday gets bundled over from behind on the edge of their box, no free kick

Dolan has his shirt grabbed by both hands and held away from the ball in the centre circle as we're on the attack, no free kick

He books Moran immediately early on for a soft professional foul, next actual challenge by a Mag, nowhere near the ball, given nothing.

Special mention to Longstaff and Burn, thought they'd be players up for a scrap but lots of moaning and lying down, bit pathetic really. Longstaff got a really clean tackle and went down like a sack of shit, having a right whinge at the ref and directed some abuse toward the Riverside - get up man!

Another special mention to Danny Murphy for critiquing Sammie for not lifting the ball over their keeper, bloke has put in more effort than you ever did in your entire Rovers career, can barely run and you're telling him he should finish better.

There was one in the first half where Buckley had his legs hooked, the ref must have been 2 yards away looking straight at it and awarded nothing.

Some stuff really had me scratching my head.

Brilliant effort by Rovers, could easily have won in normal time

Shearer gone down in my estimation tonight - he should have been more neutral for this game

Give over. If I won a million trophies with Newcastle (lol) and they were then playing Rovers in a match there is still only one team I’m supporting. He’s a Newcastle fan, at the end of the day.

I used to produce all of the NFL coverage through DAZN in North America including the Super Bowl. Also did Boxing and Baseball, which I couldn’t for the life of me get into.

American Sports certainly gets the numbers, but in terms of atmosphere it’s completely different. It’s more aligned to an experience in the States, the atmosphere is generated through excitement and a social media culture of “I was there!” whereas sport in the UK - especially football - is very much based around tribalism and aggression. I do like the Tailgates, though.

Yeah I love American Football and have been to multiple NFL and College games (albeit perhaps not the stereotypical 'atmosphere stadiums'). But the atmosphere is miles away from proper football, it's all forced and artificial i.e. blasting music and speaker systems for the crowd to get loud for a 3rd down so it's just people screaming for 30 seconds. Give me a Football away end every day of the week. Large Stadium =/ Good Atmosphere.

I see lots of other Sports doing this now....watched some Rugby recently and they were blasting out tunes between scrum resets. Cricket have done it for a while but at least that's a long and different format.

I've said on many occasions that the FA Cup tie last season away to Sheff Utd really stirred something inside of me and the wider fanbase, it proved this club still has the support and in big numbers if we can get the off field stuff right.

Sadly with Wharton being sold and JDT being forced out, in my eyes I feel like we are back to square one, we are always one bad decision away from disaster under these rats, but in this case 2!

I have no interest in tonight's game, I've given my tickets away, but as always I hope we win for the superb downtrodden supporters, they deserve better, much better.

VENKYS OUT - NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

It was so almost a cracking day out, the sun was shining on snake pass, eccy road spoons was full of blue and white and despite the result (and the Morton rolling around after a poke in the eye) it was so enjoyable to be in an away end with 6k Rovers fans feeling like we were finally moving forwards.
We'll get to the new Wembley one day, hopefully once Venkys are gone as it'll be bitter-sweet seeing them no doubt reappear for a big one. (and hopefully not the Papa Johns Trophy!!)

    Bloody hell.

I'm one of the JDT diehards, but even I can see that Eustace has come in and quickly picked up 6 points having been handed a squad massively out of form.

I expected nothing from today, away against PNE or, quite frankly given our club history, away at Cardiff (we usually gift out of form teams a win).

The football isn't pretty, but it's effective. We've nullified Cardiff, PNE and Norwich in back-to-back-to-back games.

He's grinding out results. It's not aspirational football, but we're not there anymore - the Venkys have seen to that.

Whilst I agree some-what, we’re not giving him Stoke are we? Appointed Friday, no training session and in the stand until about 3-0 or something. It’s 3 points from 4 games. And I think variance will catch up with the ‘we look more solid now’ mantra.

Again, to reiterate, he could lose every game for the rest of the season and I’d still not blame him but blame the useless clowns stripping the club to pieces.

There's been some ludicrous decision- selling Raya for what we did being just one!

Does anyone know what our net spend since Venkys is vs net incomings? Off the top of my head we've bombed out some decent players..

    P.Jones: 20m
    Samba: 10m
    Hanley: 5m
    Wharton: 18m
    Raya: 3m
    Armstrong: 15m (?)

The only transfers of note that jump out to me are Brereton and Gallagher..

Surely we've made more from selling then we've spent over the past decade?

Would love to see what the wage bill was and what is now too..

According to transfermarkt as it's probably the easiest way to look at it....note that it's in euros though

    €141.5m recouped

    €73.5m spent

So they've netted €68m euro profit on transfer sales

for reference and some grim reading...
