Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
1864roverite replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
it was based upon the media reports being accurate which we think are exaggerated (as they always are!). Granted he has done well and hasn't sulked and that's good to know however, footballers are more fickle than supporters in thinking they are better than they actually are!! -

One season in 5 and he comes good expecting the world at his feet! Young BBD has a few lessons to learn in the life of a footballer -

Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?

Re BBD I think much the same as RN and DL before him, he may think the premiership is around the corner with a big move to a big club. Truth is he is not being coveted by a top 10 club. Wham have moved onto bigger and better things. Therefore and if we accept the media reports then his options are likely Bournemouth and Everton - and one of them is a guaranteed relegation slot at the end of the season. So, Everton it might be but not at £20m as they are financially snookered with the losses, the sanctions on their Russki leader and the new ground on the horizon added to the debts from last season. So then we have the likes of: Fulham - bigger fish to entice Leicester - no previous links Wolves - signing much better players Brighton - losing players hand over foot however with millions at their disposal i am unsure whether BBD is an option unless we saw the chance of a deal that included PVH which seems unlikely now Move abroad? even Nice look to have splurged their money elsewhere now. So, BBD and his options are very limited if you ask me. No one ese in the Championship can get anywhere near offering him a deal in the window let alone sign him in this window -

He cannot be sold UNLESS he agreed to it. What do you suggest is a good time in a contract to offer a new deal especially when for the first 3 years he was barely average at best? -

The player was offered a new contract in accordance with his contract extension in Rovers favour, they were obliged to do this. There is little the club can do IF the player doesn't want to sign the deal in front of him or indeed engage with the club for a new deal. Even if the club offer a fortune and he still doesn't want to engage, the cards fall in the hand of the player and nothing can be done about it! -

Baseless ? Mowbray himself has stated that is the case! If it’s not true why would he say it? The main name we were offered was from Man City and was a free of charge loan! The issues between Venus and TM kaiboshed that! -

It’s not illogical it’s absolutely spot on! Not only did he not spend cash he turned down the chance to loan 2 very good and upcoming PL strikers who were offered ! -

Maybe the players that JDT wants are not just quite available due to any number of reasons and why would you think he isn't being backed if stories are true about offering a good few bob for players already mentioned within this thread? -

Abysmal lack of effort! Why Buckley is still on the park is a mystery. We have blown it tonight making poor choices wasting chances, poor passing and a totally disorganised unit! -

The problem is very clear we cannot breach midfield areas - vale is isolated and when he loses the ball it brings pressure, same with Dolan. SS needs a free reign to break the central area -

It wasn’t Pickering it was BBD losing his man! Rovers look tired and lethargic as I predicted! -

In some places you may read that but you will find the bid was no where near that figure because at the time, if it was Rovers would have sold him. -

you are missing the point surely! If a player doesn't sign the contract on offer and with both DL and RN, there was always hope they both would, and then having one at least indicating he was happy to sign but then declined, the club cant do anything more about it, players choice. Nyambe was kippered by his agent who thought the cash cow was coming his way, truth is it never did and never will for him. He declined, crawled back dithered more and then Rovers withdrew the offer, quite righty so in my view. The club cannot and should not offer wages way above what the club values them at. Players have become uses to huge windfalls of cash being on offer, that is now changing outside of the PL and if you cant get into a 25 man Pl squad then players like clubs themselves, will have to adopt accordingly. The days of huge wages are over in the football league. I see a wage ceiling of around 20k per week being a common thing, it just isnt sustainable let alone acceptable in these days. -

But they weren't so your value suggested is totally and completely irrelevant - neither DL or RB cost Rovers anything. I can assure you the Rothwell bid was far short of the £4.5m you suggest, try £2m up front with add ons to make it to £3m at the most.
