It is unbelievable. As in, I don't believe that you know what it is.
I think I know to the nearest £thousand / per week.
My understanding is his Leeds' salary is £2MILLION+ pa and the + is significant!!!

Poveda - shocker, looks over weight and uninterested
Think it's his pay packet -unbelievable what he's on at Leeds and what Rovers are coughing up for him.
You could have wrote the script for tonight.
Whilst Mowbray remains in charge don't think anything will ever change.
Hugely difficult game at Blackpool who have a manager who knows just what the feck he's doing.

Neils Preston finished above Mowbrays Rovers every season he was there. Handing out a few beatings in the process. The guy also got Norwich promoted to the Prem well within the last decade not when adam was a lad.
He must have something about him and is easily in the same bracket as Mowbray, better in fact going off those stats.
At end the day the Bowyers, Lamberts, Neils and Mowbrays are all in that middle rung of gaffers. Sometimes the dice just needs rolling so he'd be far from the worst choice to land on.
I think there is much to 'come out in the wash' and when Mowbray does go, I think there will be some interesting readings!

The managerial bar is lower than I can ever remember it, all this talk of Neill and Hughton - Both abject failures whilst working under similar circumstances as Mowbray, why on earth would we want either of those 2 here?
I get the Wilder links, but I fear he's beyond on means, but these 2? doesn't make sense, you're replacing one failure with another.
Think Wilder in danger of thinking he's 'too big' - a number of clubs are understood to have had a nibble including us, WBA and Forest.

We see what happens in the future and whether you get your wish for him to replace Mowbray. Should be on the shortlist if we had a vacancy
Did you see the link I posted for you in the championship thread yesterday?
Not my wish! Have made this clear from the start. However, IMO, far superior to our dinosaurial incumbent.

Paradoxically, I think Rovers' decent start, results' wise, makes Mowbray's position more vulnerable in that more would be managers out there are more inclined to step into the Ewood hot seat.
For what it's worth, I think Neill would crawl over broken glass to become our manager and I also think the Raos know this.
Decision time is here with Mowbray's contract running down!!!

Hull haven't scored a goal in their last 5 matches.
Hull haven't scored a goal in the last 4 matches against Rovers.
Rovers have kept a clean sheet in 4 of last 6 home games against Hull.
Pretty emphatic stats that all point to one thing being guaranteed to happen tomorrow.....🤔
You are right, think Hull are shite.
Expect Mowbray to produce one of his 'get out of jail' performances / results in front of Sky TV cameras that will have commentators / pundits drooling just what a 'terrific job Mowbray is doing under extreme circumstances'.
Tonight is one of those licence to print money games and with Rovers at just about evens, I've banged on enough to make Christmas a bit more special this year.

I have no idea if we put the feelers out for a new manager in April, reading between the lines we never did, but we certainly never went near Neil, thats for sure.
Think you are being a bit naive there Gav!
Do you honestly think Neil would admit to a random Rovers' fan that he'd been sounded out particularly when the club has a manager in situ!?!?
I'm pretty certain there's more to this than meets the eye!

I was told by a PNE fan back in April that Neil was coming to Ewood...
A relative with good PNE connections has been flagging this possibility with me for the last 8/9 months.
There would be no compensation now as he's out of work and where he lives, he's just a short 15/20 minute drive from Brockhall.
I understand Wilder was sounded out some time ago but thought there were bigger fish in the sea than Rovers.

I think it is fair to assume all is not hunky dory at Rovers.
I get the impression that morale is generally poor among staff.
A number of us thought Mowbray would be through the exit door in days following the home defeat to Bournemouth back in April.
IMO, there is neither rhyme nor reason behind many decisions made at Rovers.
I think there is an air of unpredictability and idiosyncrasy about Rovers and despite having got off to a decent start and the closure of the transfer window, it would not surprise me in the least if we soon saw the departure of Mowbray.
I posted this on Thursday and Nixon posts his story today.
I stand by my Thursday post and think the next Rovers' manager will be either Alex Neil or Chris Wilder and sooner than many on here would think.

Blows my mind that they don't have more ambition than conning some Indian chicken farmers into thinking they are good at their jobs.
Think Waggott is in his sixties and Mowbray and Venus mid to late fifties.
I would think hunger and ambition deserted them a long time ago and who could blame them for wanting and maintaining hugely paid jobs on 'Easy Street'. I think they are third raters and probably know this in their own minds and Rovers are probably their last chance to top up pension funds.
Staggering that the Raos and Suhail fail to see this.

If I was a 'prominent' Rovers' player with just 12 months remaining on my contract, I would simply look at what has happened at the club in recent times including this transfer window and say to myself 'why the hell do I want to stay here'. I think getting them to sign new contracts is highly unlikely and what we realise in fees will be minimal.
I think our outlook is terrifying and goodness knows what our team will look like 12 months on. Sadly, unless, IMO, insanity prevails, Waggott and Mowbray will be out of it without a care in the world other than keeping track on their vastly enhanced bank accounts following their Rovers' employment.

I mean, we have a very small squad now and other than Dack, i cannot think of anyone else who could earning significantly more than the average championship player.
If we talk about turnover, the crowd ban affected every other club equally last season and looking at the 2019/ 20 numbers, we still have bigger crowds than 1/3 of the league https://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-championship-2019-2020/1/ so why are we so badly affected?
It's very simple - I think we are a very poorly run club from top to bottom.

Mowbray in LT about Poveda:
“He's played quite a bit in the Premier League quite and as I’ve talked about before, the salary level is way, way beyond where we can even think about.”
As I posted on Tuesday, my understanding is that this is an expensive deal for Rovers (loan fee and wages).
Those who thought the lad was on some £10/11k / week at Leeds need to think again.
If what I've been told is correct, his salary at Leeds is substantially higher than our highest earner(s) and I understand he will be one of Rovers' highest earners (if not the highest) even though we will be paying only a part of his salary.
I just hope the lad delivers!

Best team in the league only getting better as this window goes on. Hope they go up because I think Ismael's football will be fascinating to watch in the Premier League.
At least they will get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We wont and sadly it will be a 'result' if we finish above bottom six.
Think Mowbray's journey has been in reverse gear for most of his tenure.
IMO, in the main, football under Mowbray has been amongst the most turgid I've seen in almost 60 years of watching Rovers. I would put it on a par with what we saw under the hapless Jim Iley.
I think last season was an illusion.
Started off decently with convincing wins against 10 man Coventry, 10 man PNE and an utterly shambolic Derby who shortly after sacked their manager.
As for the three five goal performances you keep referring to - perspective called for. Second game of the season against Wycombe who were like lambs to the slaughter until they found their feet and sadly they were relegated. Two five goal wins in the last two home matches of the season - these were dead rubbers against a shambolic Brum who'd just sacked their manager and Bowyer threw a load of kids in and then an almost equally shambolic Huddersfield whose goalie gifted us at least three of those goals.
I think Mowbray is a disaster and he's set the club back a million miles / years and it's doubtful we will ever recover. That run of 2 wins in 17 games will stick in the memory, for all the wrong reasons, for a long time and during that time, IMO, the manager's body language said it all; any man of integrity and principle would have walked away.
I think 'I will not be a burden on this club' Mowbray's position is indefensible. God help us if he remains manager for much longer.

Two issues with your hypotheticals…
1. He signed for Leeds when they were in the championship, having never played a single competitive game- 40k a week??? I’ve seen it listed as 11k and that seems reasonable.
2. A selling club would spin it as higher…hmmm…why would we as are giving 40 per cent of the profits to Newcastle! From media reports it’s going to be close to 20 million for Armstrong.
I know we have lots of incompetent people on the staff but you can use better examples then these two.
If you are going to 'have a go' at me then please at least get your facts and argument right.
Did I say he was on £40k a week at Leeds!? No, I said:
We will not be paying the majority of his wages. "I think some of the wage levels quoted for the lad at Leeds earlier in this thread are ridiculously low. I'll leave you with this thought, we loan a young player from a PL club on a hypothetical £40k pw and we pay him £20k pw, we would not be paying the majority of the player's wages but we wouldn't half be paying some dollar.
I was trying to demonstrate that even though we might not pay the majority of a loanee's wages, it may very well cost us top dollar.
I understand his wages at Leeds are way in excess of £11k pw and Rovers will be paying in excess of £11k pw in wages. I am either right or wrong but I have a high degree of confidence in what I have been told.
As for Armstrong, if you think it's close to £20million well good luck with that!.

Two weeks ago it was your understanding that Armstrong was sold for 12 leading to 15 which is incorrect also. Well as there have been no official figures published neither of us can be proven correct or incorrect. A selling club will always 'spin' in the best possible way.

Last season, I think you will find Leeds' wage bill was substantially in excess of £100million - almost five times the level of Rovers.
The information came from a source who would certainly have access to that kind of knowledge and I would give it a 90%+ rating as being correct.
