nicko, some info on city's next signing.... alvaro recoba, on loan. i'm told the deal will be finalised by the end of this week.

Pretty close to the news on that one. Heard it last night too.

But I checked it with Citeh and they say that he was offered a couple of months ago but that Sven had not been too interested.

Recoba looked loike being a great player but has had trouble with injuries. Interesting free all the same.

Heard a rumour that Preston want to take Nugent back on loan, Not sure if there is any truth in it though !

I think you can discount that one.

Nicko (and all), what do you make of the strange situations of Nugent & Benayoun - the clubs spend a long time getting them signed and now possibly Pompey want to offload Nugent and Benayoun's agent is saying he may move?

Do you think it's a case that they haven't settled in at the clubs? I suppose with the amount of teams having cash to spend they might be able to sell them quick.

Not me. Probably the stupidest story of the summer - and there have been some contenders.

Pompey want to move Nugent to Derby, who HAVE been speaking to them despite the denials.

Boro do not want Nugent and never have.

If Pompey sell Nugent to Derby, then they will try for Yakubu with the money and a part-ex deal involving Gary O'Neil.

On Benayoun - he has always had a noisy agent. Nothing has changed.

Yakubu deal agreed with Everton - medical tomorrow. Fee an astonishing £11.25 million.

I suppose there is a chance he will make his debut on Saturday. If he plays like he did at Wigan last week that would probably be a bonus for you. :lol:

Real Madrid have also just offered £8.2 million for Gabriel Heinze.

Sounds like a good deal for all concerned...except Man U who will need a left back methinks.

Ljuboja is totally out of it at Stuttgart. Had a lot of fitness and form trouble. So it will be a trial. But thanks for the tip. It's a story.

Fulham want a good replacement for Brian McBride. My Fulham man tells me two interesting things:

Jason Roberts is rated too expensive and outside their reach.

Kyle Lafferty is a possible, but only as the 'young guy who might breakthrough.'
