joey_big_nose Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Milner is likely to go to Villa...for around £5 to £6 million. O'Neill has wanted him for ages and I know from people involved in the deal that it is still very much alive. Milner wants to move and Newcastle will probably let him go. He is a pretty good, so that's a good capture for a top-half rival to make. Fair enough. We can't afford to lash out 5-6m on a player who is not exactly what we need. If it was nearer 3m we could have a look.

gazsimm Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 if bentley does go in summer and we get the 15 million that is being reported, how much off the fee will Hughes get to spend on new players??????????
modes98 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Milner is likely to go to Villa...for around £5 to £6 million. That wasn't a bad guess then. Hopefully Newcastle turn the screws on Villa and demand stupid money for him. That'll teach them for having a rich owner Doesn't seem a bad price for a young english player at all.
AndyC Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 On the BBC website they're talking about "Should Bentley go to Liverpool or Chelsea" as if it is actually happening... big club a**e lickers! does anyone actually believe that he will stay with us?
gazsimm Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 does anyone actually believe that he will stay with us? his house is not up for sale at least lol
tcj_jones Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 When you hear about teams competing for Europe splashing out £6 million on a midfielder, it makes talk of a "£10 million war chest" quite laughable. £10 million isn't even enough to get two quality players in.
Plastic Head Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 If you hear an official of a publicly listed club state that the football manager has £xx millions to spend on players, or has made an £x million bid for a player, you can take it as fact. If it is not that official may well find himself in prison.... If the club is not publicly listed it's another story.
Alan75 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 his house is not up for sale at least lol Hes doing DIY at the moment, could be doing his house up to sell.
rovers_rob Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 The lancashire evening post are reporting that Hughes is interested in Beattie and Tonge from Sheff Utd : http://www.lep.co.uk/national-football/Clu...land.3980822.jp Surely we can do better than that ?

I would be absolutely amazed by that. Beattie was the alternative to Roque a year ago - and would not be a good partner. Tonge's best days are behind him.
Hughesy Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Lancashire evening post?! Who!? Cant see us being interested in Beattie thats for sure. Kevin Phillips if West Brom dont make it could be useful as a sub.

nicko Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 It sounds like game on in the first transfer chase affecting Rovers... David Moyes watched the American midfielder Michael Bradley at Heerenveen last weekend. Rovers have him high - probably top - of their wish list. Watch this space.

I was just thinking we had the advantage of having Big Brad to convince him, but then i remembered they have Howard. Bradley would be a great buy though.
Eddie Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I think Friedel might have more sway. Howard will probably just swear at him.
nicko Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 That's been checked...Brad doesn't know him. He has only met his dad - the national coach - once. Worryingly, the dad was over to see Howard recently and went to the Merseyside derby. And you can bet that Everton's case has been pushed during that visit. Moyes needs midfielders, but always has a problem making his mind up. If Rovers are serious about Bradley, they should move fast.
modes98 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 It would be good to get the main target wrapped up before the window reopens. Would allow us to get a few good nights sleep. Shame he doesn't know Brad, he needs to raise his profile on the American soccer scene.

Problem with this is we could get into a bidding war, a game we can't afford to play.
jonv Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 ..Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is considering a £3million summer move for Sheffield United's Michael Tonge... any confirmation nicko?
nicko Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 ..Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is considering a £3million summer move for Sheffield United's Michael Tonge... any confirmation nicko? If he ever considered it I would guess he thought better of it...
Hughesy Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I would imagine Everton will beat us to the signing of that Bradley lad if they are serious. European football is almost certain, better links through Howard, bigger club/ more fans and more money!!

European football is almost certain, better links through Howard, bigger club/ more fans and more money!! We would have a decent shout I think if Hughes gets to meet the player. He has that gravity about him and the facilities are so impressive that I think we would have a good shout. Wooing RSC was no mean feat. Plus Hughes could say, quite accurately, that Bradley will be a key player from day one. Everton have such a large squad that he might not feel he will get in the first team straight away.

Lurid Coat Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Paul Jewell wants to sign Jason Roberts to spearhead Derby's Championship promotion bid next season. (Mirror) You can have him for £4 million, Paul, I hear you have rich new owners
