they_think_its_all_rover Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Nicko, whats your take on the Leeds situation? Do you think they'll get any points back? none back? or more deducted? I've just seen this (from Yorkshire Evening Post); Chair of the arbitration panel Sir Philip Otton is reported to be livid that the Leeds Chief Exec has breached FA rules by ignoring confidentiality rules on arbitration hearings. It seems that Shaun Harvey has realised his mistake in writing to other clubs during the hearing and may have put the Leeds case at risk by his actions and is now staying silent on the issue. Although the panel could return points, as with any appeal it also has the power to increase the penalty if it considers this appropriate. This step could possibly put Leeds out of the play-off places and consign them to another year in league 1.
rog of the rovers Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Is Gaz Barry on his way from Villa? Got an anxious mate
nicko Posted April 23, 2008 Author Posted April 23, 2008 Is Gaz Barry on his way from Villa? Got an anxious mate I know Chelsea like him, especially if Lampard leaves. Not sure about the Liverpool stories - where would he play in that team?
nicko Posted April 23, 2008 Author Posted April 23, 2008 Nicko, whats your take on the Leeds situation? Do you think they'll get any points back? none back? or more deducted? I've just seen this (from Yorkshire Evening Post); It's a total mess. Backed Leeds to go up at 5-1, so I'm biased, but they should not be getting any points back after their cynical behaviour. The Football League are mainly amateurs, it would take pros to sort this one out. The paper story quoted was originally in the Guardian. Not sure of its relevance.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I don't think they should be docked any more, but I don't think they should get any back either. All Leeds fans are moaning (typically) that no other clubs get docked 15 points and that they should never have got soo much... The way I see it; 10 points for administration (because they exploited the loophole) & 5 points in exchange for the "golden share". If I was the FA, I'd turn around and say "you cheeky ****'s! if it wasn't for us allowing you the golden share you wouldn't even be playing in a league! nevermind trying to get points back!"
modes98 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Not sure about the Liverpool stories - where would he play in that team? My gf reckons they would go with both him and Masch in the DM roles and Alonso would make his way back to spain. He would also be useful as a left winger, using Babel on the right.

modes98 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Barry couldn't play left wing, not enough pace. I could see him replacing Alonso, but not sure he is leaving. Does/did alright forging goals from the left. As with Bentley it is not all about pace. Barry is Villa's heart, so nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see him leave. They would lose so much in way of assists and goals.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Maybe they'd both play and Rafa would play Gerrard just behind Torres?
Fife Rover Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Is it Saint George, Nicko? Been in the press a lot today. Dragon as his number two? OOOppssss! I should have read the posts above first!! Sorry Ozzie.
modes98 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Maybe they'd both play and Rafa would play Gerrard just behind Torres? . Barry Mash Potato Kuyt Gerrard Babel Torres
Fife Rover Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 It should be official shortly. Stan the Man, Ronnie Jepson as number two. It's a Dinglefest at Huddersfield. By the way, Stan is a smashing chap. Old school, real football man. I know he was boss of your chums down the road, but he is a top fella. I can confirm that. Glad to see Stan getting fixed up at last. He was in for the Dunfermline job after Calderwood walked out on them, and before that disaster zone from Derry City was appointed. If Stan had got the job I wager anything you like that DAFC would still be playing in the SPL.
John Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Nicko, you reported recently that Sidwell will move to West Ham in the summer. Is this still the case? I noticed Villa were linked with him today. Would be a great signing for whoever gets him....
nicko Posted April 23, 2008 Author Posted April 23, 2008 Nicko, you reported recently that Sidwell will move to West Ham in the summer. Is this still the case? I noticed Villa were linked with him today. Would be a great signing for whoever gets him.... Sidwell was offered round in February and West Ham were the club ready to pay the fee and his wages. If Villa are losing Barry their circumstances would change - but I think that somebody is just putting two and two together in today's papers. Checked about Sidwell latest a couyple of days ago and was told that he 'has a club' and that he hadn't been offered around again because of that. So I believe that it's still West Ham, although money can obviously talk and change things.
Big Archie Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Nicko have you heard anything about Newcastle being in for Luka Modric. Reports in Croatia seem to think his agent was flown over on Ashleys private jet to discuss a deal...
