Rover down South Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 This week hasn't been as bad for us as I thought it would be. I wasn't expecting us to sign anyone. Everton - Defender for the bench in and one out Aston Villa - Routledge in, Cahill out Man City - Have strengthened up front with Benjani, Caicedo and Mancini - Could improve them quite a bit Liverpool - No movement Portsmouth - Defoe replacing Benjani City and Pompey have probably done the best, the latter also getting Diarra, but if we are lucky with injuries I still think we can make the top 6, even top 4 if Rocky and another strike a good partnership together and get on a good run Now lets concentrate on things on the pitch and push on, no cups to worry about so every league game counts. Thanks as usual for the updates Nicko. Diarra us a very good signing, would of loved it if he'd signed for us. We just have no chance of competing with the current transfer fee's.

nicko Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 Point taken - but interesting challenge all the same......... A challenge that will have to be accepted by someone or it's going to get worse from now on.
disgruntled Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Thanks Mr Nixon, keep fighting the good fight! I'm only staying up to see how Sky Sports News handle the next hour.

PAFELL Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Neil, get a life. Nicko, Have you heard the drival on sky at the moment about Benjani and Defoe (It is already a done deal) - the Police should be sent in to arrest those presenters for fraud. It is worse than the BBC's phone in competitions - just that sky are charging through the subscriptions each month
Rover down South Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Many thanks Nicko, let's hope you can bring us good news on a takeover before the summer so we can compete in this well over inflated transfer market.
nicko Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Just found this... No by-line. Cheers. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...89520-20304600/ Check the date though.
tonygreenbank Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 The january window is like Valentines day. If you dont join in then you are perceived as uncaring but really the whole thing is designed so that desperate chairmen make desperate decisions to pacify their fans or shareholders. Tomorrow many club chairmen will wake up with players that they wouldnt have looked at 3 months ago; a bit like waking up with the girl that noone really wants after the party but as she`s there you had better get on with it. Hughesy has said he doesnt like the window so we have got to learn to live with that. Top notch players will not move in January as their clubs will not allow it but second raters will command higher fees then normal as clubs cross their fingers and plunge for this or that signing in the hope that it will bring them success. Next week all will be forgotten and lets hope our squad will do the business.

disgruntled Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 quelle surprise. But it was only getting 'tense and nervous' at Sky Sports News, nowhere else.

EwoodGlory Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Stroke Boy will now be buying the mirror every day
disgruntled Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 good god they obviously have another hour to fill before they can stick tapes into the machines.
Mozzer Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 we only have 15 or so games left-no cup competitions left, so we could make a real push for europe.. keep our squad fit, and away from suspensions theres a chance... we have teams such as wigan, derby, fulham, bolton at home so i dont think europe is out of reach for the current squad..
Alan75 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Its like christmas. Last minute on what do buy the wife / girlfriend. You dont want to spend a lot. You havent a clue what to get, but you know if you dont buy anything you'll be reminded everytime something goes wrong.
No Nay Never Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Nicko, Have you heard the drival on sky at the moment about Benjani and Defoe (It is already a done deal) - the Police should be sent in to arrest those presenters for fraud. nicko Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 AND A FINAL WORD... I am virtually certain there will be no signings tomorrow... But, intriguingly, there is a possible arrival after the window shuts. I believe there is a free agent player being discussed at the top level. More on this when I have it. But you might as well take tomorrow off. Tempted myself.
Fife Rover Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Chimbonda is off...although the reason will be explained tomorrow. Poor old Stroke Boy is wilting. But so am I. If you hurry Nicko you will just catch Mrs Nicko before she gets into her taxi. Give her a big hug and tell her you have to make a living somehow. See if that doesn't cure your wilt.

PAFELL Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Not one to be petty but Sky Sports News is a freeview channel.. Don't have freeview - only sky. Er if you want to be totally correct, it would not be called SKY sports news if it didn't belong to SKY. Even though freeview air it. What the hell, we didn't need to sign anybody anyway. 3pts on Saturday is enough for me.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 It ain't over till the fat lady sings. She seemingly had her vocal cords removed a long time ago.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 No offence taken, I've embarked on a positive journey this week (mainly down to work stresses) trying to ignore negative stuff in the world.... Bloody hell, I sound like some positive thinking nutcase. I think I must be getting tired. Still, there'll be the derbies next season huh?! jannerman, I'm really sorry, I honestly wasn't picking on your post, it's just that 99% of this site must be on happy pills. If we'd made a major signing everyone would have been delirious If we'd made a crap signing everyone would have said they were really happy to strengthen the squad and that they always really liked him anyway We've signed no-one and everyone is still really happy because we haven't spent what is regarded as silly money for people who supposedly aren't worth it!. It's a no lose situation for the Club!
