Hughesy Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I know it would never happen – But Julio Baptista would be a cracking signing – shame the club wouldn’t test Real Madrid with a £10m bid. Id really like to see us sign a start like him or Podolski – It would do wonders for the club and also get more fans on Ince’s side.

Sysagent Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nicko question if I may please: So are the rumours true then and Manchester City are going to go into administration with a couple of weeks then and Wardle isn't going to bale them out? (Relevant to Rovers due to Mr Hughes appointment there)
nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Arsenal are interested in: Inler, Yaya Toure, Alonso, Barry. No room for Annan, Tell that to Wenger then...
alexanders Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Wenger knows it. They will sign one of them, but Annan isn't good enough.

(Relevant to Rovers due to Mr Hughes appointment there) Man City need to sell players to pay bills and wages. Administration? It might not get that far, but there could be a lot of pain before the end of the month. And if they can't pay bills or wages then it could get even worse than that.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 With all this money talk, is Hughes/the players actually being paid? I guess part of a contract would be the ability to walk if you are not getting paid. Doubt he will though.

Are we going to raid them for Johnson, Richards, Petrov ?
hawkiiz Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I believe they are either lying or are old quotes. Annan has been over before hasn't he? they are from friday and saturday (a couple days old). after that there has been little, if any news. annan went to rovers. he arrived on monday, was always due home on friday, which is what happened. maybe rovers offered him a loan deal, but if they did, they must IMO be major fools. then some agent said to Start that Arse want annan on trial, but Start said no, and asked everyone to come to the game yesterday. now we will see. it is still early dont you think?
thenodrog Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I was accused of lying...keep up. Where? My interpretation is that he suggested that you were wrong. Hence my worries over you confusing being mistaken with lying. I'm no psychologist but it's classic inferiority complex stuff.
Sysagent Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Are we going to raid them for Johnson, Richards, Petrov ? Oh the sweet irony of that if it was to come true...
alexanders Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Poor Sparky! Went to a club which could match his ambitions and where he could get some decent transfer money. Instead he has to sell all of his players
Majiball Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nicko - Curiously given that hughes said he was responsible for footballing matters within CIty is it not feasible that its written into his contract?? Corluka and Irelands calling back, would also lend some weight to this?
BlueMG Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Are we going to raid them for Johnson, Richards, Petrov ? How good would that be!! Ha Ha!! After all the speculation around Hughes poaching our players!! Forget Curbishly, Ince, Keegan and others for first to leave/get the bullet. My money is on Hughes!
modes98 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Who cares what is happening with Annan, he is off the radar now and we are after Andrews. Whether he is on trial at Arsenal is irrelevant now. Move on. On a serious note, i hear a bid is imminent for RSC. Not the best source, but he has got a few correct in the past. So you don't take an interest in any other players or clubs then? Annan is/was a target of BRFC and you should want to know whether we are missing out on a good player in order to secure a wolves reject! Teams can bid all they want, I think even Ince is astute enough to realise that selling him could very well spell a relegation battle and a rocky time for his managerial career. Nicko. Arsenal. Delays. Reading between the lines. It all adds up. Yeah, Nicko is always right isn't he! Annan himself has stated, and also nicko, that he would rather come to us as we can offer him the best chance at first team football. Delays? He has been on a week long trial and we are or aren't working at a deal. It's only been 1 working day since his trial finished!
philipl Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nico's piece in the Mirror this morning on life at Citeh.

Corluka and Irelands calling back, would also lend some weight to this? Gary cook will be juggling with about half a dozen balls at present and trying to stop any of them hitting the floor. Hughes, Press, Thaksin, Board, Players/Agents, Banks, Prem League will all be 'at him' big time.
gbax Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Poor Sparky! Went to a club which could match his ambitions and where he could get some decent transfer money. Instead he has to sell all of his players Hughes must have had the wool pulled over his eyes when he agreed to go (or he had no option when Chelsea went elsewhere and he couldn't come back to us). He always seemed a nice bloke, part of me feels sorry for him because he did well for us, and part of me is secretly glad he's fallen on his face for leaving my beloved team!
RevidgeBlue Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 £1.5 million or thereabouts. I believe that was the fee before he arrived too and didn't change during the week. The only thing that changed was the manager's opinion of him - and the fact he wanted Andrews instead. A friend of mine has done work for and knows one of the players quite well. According to said player, Annan really did look the business in training, and we agreed a fee eventually rising in total to 3.5m with add ons. Then (again, according to said player) Ince decided he wanted to see him play in that match etc. If true, that sounds slightly steep to me, fee wise. No sign of Andrews checking in today yet though?
Ewood and I Would Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I realise you feel a bit foolish after accusing me of lying over Friedel, Robinson and Bentley - and getting the 'two loan players' rule thing totally wrong. So maybe while the Annan and Andrews affairs are being settled it might be best just to keep your head down a bit. Once again nicko avoids the original point and comes back with his stock cherry picked stories that he got “right” to prove how great he is and how mortal us “civvies” are; and I’m surprised you’ve mentioned Bentley, the same Bentley that you were adamant on several occasions would sign his new contract. Furthermore, I never accused you of lying over Friedel, I said either you OR Ince was lying but you are welcome to go back and have look if you want. I’m surprised comprehension would be a problem for a journalist. Why do you have to be such an a*se sometimes? I’ve seen your picture and you seem a mature man but some of your replies sound like they’re from a teenager. If you’re so confident about your stories why not be content that you know the “truth” and we don’t, you’ll be proven right in the end after all. Providing selected stories that you have got right (and dismissing the ones you’ve got wrong) does not mean I should take everything you say as gospel. I don’t know who your sources are but I’m guessing it’s not Ince, JW or any of the backroom staff or players. That’s fine but it also means that whatever you hear from these people has to be taken with a pinch of salt, what do they get out of telling you for example? It is in an agents interest to spin a yarn to a journalist if he thinks it will increase the value or interest in his players. Furthermore, you have often slated other journalists and their stories, trying to have us believe that the status quo of journalists being unreliable applies to everyone else but you. If you were that good you’d be reporting on the top four as that what sells papers. When you win awards like Martin Samuel you might get my respect
steven Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Where? My interpretation is that he suggested that you were wrong. Hence my worries over you confusing being mistaken with lying. I'm no psychologist but it's classic inferiority complex stuff. Take it outside mate!
hawkiiz Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Annan will cost little dont be too sure about that.
RoversSG Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Have anyone here watched Andrews in action before? What type of midfielder is he? Box to box like reid? Passing attacking mid like scholes? Passing defensive mid like tugay? Tackling DM like the axe? Shoot on side mid like lampard?
gbax Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Take it outside mate! It's raining! thenodrog will get wet. It's not Sydney weather here you know!

RoverRich Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Arsenal are interested in: Inler, Yaya Toure, Alonso, Barry. No room for Annan, Add De La Red to that list according to some reports this morning. Personally can't see Annan going there. If he does and we sign Andrews for £2m surely questions must be asked
