In past season or so, he hasn't seemed to have had the impact for the U21s or England youth that his hype would suggest. That said, he is a lot younger, of course, and suffered numerous niggly injuries. I just wonder if he's burning out early.. or whether it is something of a plateau before further development. https://www.englandfootball.com/articles/2025/Sep/06/england-mens-under-18s-morocco-match-report-20250609 Seems he was on the pitch for 25 minutes. He came on with the score at 1-1 to score the 2nd and 3rd goals for England in a 4-1 win Edited Sunday at 05:46 by KentExile 3 Quote

KentExile Posted Monday at 18:53 Posted Monday at 18:53 Sam Barnes is now with Altrincham, played 5 games so far Quote
Backroom Tom Posted Monday at 21:36 Backroom Posted Monday at 21:36 Shame for the lad, he’s now 24 and I think those 5 games for Altrincham is the most he’s played for a single club maybe even for all clubs combined at a senior level Seems Harry Chapman played against him for Gateshead coming off the bench! 3 Quote

Our goal from Jayden Sargent off the bench I see, only came on in the 75th minute. There was a bit of hype about him in the U18s last season I recall. I'm struggling to find his age, but the only thing I can see is from that Rovers Xtra account 3 months ago, stating he was 15 at the time! I'd assume 16 now, but a very good sign if he is starting to play and score for the U21s already. May be one to watch. Stats: 10 league appearances for the U18s last season, with 5 assists and 1 goal over 544 minutes (equivalent to just over 6 full games, and a goal contribution almost exactly every 90 minutes). Although no goals or assists for them this season in 3 games and 198 minutes (equivalent of 2.2 full games). Only one 9 minute appearance for the U21s this season before this match, in the PL2 against Brighton, and 4 for them last season, 3 of which were in this competition, the PL Cup. None of them last season were for more than 69 minutes, but he still got 2 assists, including 1 against City in the PL2 in a 16 minute cameo. If he really is 15 or only just 16 these are promising numbers. I wonder if he'll start to break into the U21s properly this season. 2 Quote

He is a 2nd year scholar (the same year group as Tyjon), which means he is 17 (unless his birthday was earlier this month in which case he is 18) In the same thread which claims Sergeant is 15, it also states Joe Boggan is 17, which is also incorrect. Boggan was a scholar a year before Tyjon and Sergeant which makes Boggan 18 or 19 nów (19 according to the Premier League) Scholar years in football work in the same way that school years do, 1st Sept until end of August 1st year scholars are basically 1st year college/6th form and likewise, 2nd year scholars are 2nd year college/6th form Full match report from the 1-1 draw with Coventry Edited 1 hour ago by KentExile Quote
