We can hopefully sign him to a 3 year pro contract, cant get him to sign for any longer than that until he turns 18.  Rules don't allow it

Aye I know. Gives us a bit of protection for a year though (as long as his agent doesn't do what Phillips' did and put a fairly shit clause in) until we can get him on a longer one.

Of course, hard to have faith we can handle the contract negotiations these days.

Discovered today that the Eastham who has been playing for Ashton Utd for the past month or 2 is a different one than ours.

Jordan Eastham (ours) played 28 games for them before he was replaced by Connor Eastham for most games since March

Not sure if Jordan was injured, but results seemed to deteriorate without him.  Jordan Eastham did return for 1 game in April, in which they won 2-1, but doesn't seem to have featured since

Are they related?

A Connor Eastham did comment on Jordan’s haircut when he signed his new contract in 2023 🧐.

The plot thickens…

Maybe a whole clan of 7th tier standard goalkeepers?

They do look quite similar, and they both follow each other on Instagram, so I think they may be related

Starts this weekend for

O'Riordan - lost 1-0 - finished 13th - Crewe were 2nd & going for automatic promotion when he signed for them

Batty - lost 1-0 - finished 21st

Garrett - won 4-1 - scored to make it 1-1 - withdrawn after 77 minutes with the score at 3-1 - finished 20th

On the bench

Markanday - won 4-1 - result means they finish 6th & qualified for play offs

Not involved in matchday squad

Saadi - won 2-0

Vale - won 2-1 - currently injured

Duru - drew 0-0 - currently injured - finished 16th

As an aside, results mean that Chesterfield (with McFadzean & Fleck both playing the full 90 minutes) finish 7th and qualify for the playoffs & Richie Smallwood's Bradford finish 3rd to earn automatic promotion

Play on Monday

Olson - score/update

Powell - score/update

Goddard - score/update

After this weekend,  the only games that remain for our loanees (I think) are:

Leyton Orient (Markanday)

Semi finals - 10th May, 14th May

Final - 25th May

Motherwell (Vale - should he be fit at any point this season)

10th May, 14th May, 18th May

Ethnikos Achnas (Saadi - who seems to be a fixture on the bench now that they cannot be relegated

11th May

These loans have been disasters - there's no immediate help coming next season from this bunch.

That's a heck of a goal by Garrett, I had high hopes for him but he seemed to lose his way a bit under Eustace, maybe Ismael will be a better fit. I assume Buckley and JRC will go in summer, so we will need Garrett and a new guy, even if we keep Forshaw as rumoured.

Markanday I also have hopes for, but it may be better to sell at this stage. Vale we should 100% offload.

Batty needs a good loan next year, Ribeiro and Pickering is solid LB group.

Not to my knowledge, but then again, I only found out that Connor existed after reading the match report for Ashtons play off defeat and thinking how rude it was that they had a player on loan for a year and got his name wrong 😉

Edit - it seems Jordan was injured

I noticed this when I clicked a match report you linked to, too. I googled Connor Eastham and only found a lad playing for someone else so I also assumed it was a mistake. Fair coincidence to have two keepers with that surname at the same club...maybe less of a coincidence but still weird if they're related.

Investigation complete.  Following an autistic deep dive into both Jordans &  Connors twitter profile, I can confirm that they are indeed related

Weird that the only football photo of Connor shows him playing outfield. Maybe he has switched positions in recent years.

Comments from Tranmere fans seem to indicate they would be happy for him to extend his loan.  Which given his lack of minutes may seem a little odd, but maybe he was similar to Ayari when he was with us last season (albeit at a lower level)
