The change of system helped with that

we essentially replaced 2 centre backs with 3 in order to keep our defence relatively solid.  We shipped a lot of goals early season until that system change

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/blackburn-rovers/spielplandatum/verein/164

Unfortunately we have sacrificed the ability to create chances (which was already limited) as a result of that

I'm not sure we sacrificed anything as you'd still be reliant on Morishita, Cantwell and Hedges (and now Baradji) to score and create out wide. You'd also have Ohashi sat on the bench.

We didn't have the wide men to play 4-2-3-1 in my opinion - nobody in our squad makes you sit up and take notice when they have the ball. Cantwell, for example, can drift past a player, but he's quickly caught up if he does and his shooting is woeful.

Like I said 3 and 4 this window with similar going out

A striker and centre back coming in as the priority. Wouldn't mind seeing us another creative/goalscorer midfielder coming in aswell. Maybe add other one if we can I wouldn't bothered with signing either wing back. Used what we have and use Powell as third option at left wing back.

Outs, Gueye has to go, Carter can go now for me far too injury prone, I would let Ribeiro go and keep Pickering. Loan De Neve out. That's 4 plus add Garrett and Tyjon. Tyjon won't sign a contract here and Garrett need a permanent move where he will play in league 1

well you crave transfers news so who else cover Rovers?

Did Buckley until a move was on the cards?

So if Carter stays, what the plan will him? register him or not?

I think you are saying what you think will happen as much as anything.

You are also arguing for the sake of it. I said 5, you said 3 or 4 so not much difference.

A solitary striker and no added quality on either side (wing back) would not do much to improve our side which is really poor going forward. 3 strikers (Gudjohnsen out until Feb) would still leave us short. 3 players for 2 positions especially forward ones, I dont get how you think that is sufficient.

Buckley could go a week of training without getting injured. He may have not been very good but they at least were signing someone who can play football matches. And Buckley was happy to move over there.

Regarding Carter, there are plenty of poor players or ill fitting players that I would try and move on first.

Lancashire Telegraph also understands that Rudy Gestede was among the representatives for Rovers at Barnsley for their match against Lincoln City on Monday night. So that's account wasn't lying @roversfan99

Doesnt prove it for sure. Even if he was seen there, doesnt mean he was scouting that particular player.

But either way, when that account has posted its own "exclusives," they have in the main been fictional. So my skepticism can be understood. Rather than just believing everything.

Agreed the account posts random crap all the time they do tend to get the odd one come through but it’s the start of silly season again so expect there to be many more

When he was signed, he was bigged up as a player who could protect the defence if im not mistaken.

Not sure hes scored many goals.

Silly season where people come alive desperate for attention by claiming transfer stories and exclusives.

Often people who dont show much interest or comment much outside a transfer window as if the games are immaterial.

Nathan Jones will no doubt be excited.

And what is your opinion after we signed them particularly tronstad?

Miller's a really poor defender. Tronstad is an extremely ordinary midfielder. Bossed by 36 Yr. old Barry Bannan last night.

Not sure I understand why we would be chasing Reyes, he plays Kargbo's non-existent pacy left winger role.

If we were a sensible team who would actually develop him etc, then go for it, but he doesn't fit in the system we play just now, and I would rather we spent our "budget" (lol imagine having a transfer budget) on an actual Striker, not another winger we can't play.

Get him shifted Jan 1 then to Arsenal and use those funds in this transfer window.

How much will he fetch? (Genuine question as I've no idea).

Looks like he was being sent to the last 2 away games as an unused sub as punishment.

£500K-£1M (probably the lower end of that with 6 months left on his deal), with various add ons on top of that, and  a sell on %

Edit - the initial fee will also be in instalments, spread over 3-5 years, so enough money to buy a cut price Rudy random from Belgium

I dont see how he is spinning it, it makes no sense looking back that there was a plan to move to 352. The way that the squad has been built never suggested that. It very much came across as a temporary move that initially saw an instant improvement in results that Ismael has since stuck to. That improvement hasnt continued consistently but we still seem more balanced in terms of our first 11 than 4231, but its just left the squad looking particularly imbalanced as the squad clearly wasnt recruited for that formation.

Up front, Gueye was never in favour under Ismael, its one judgement call Ismael has got consistently right. Even if Kargbo had kicked on, hes a winger. Gudjohnsen seemed to be recruited as an alternative to Ohashi, Gueye nearly left in the summer.

De Neve, Kargbo and Morishita were all signed to play out wide.

Miller was clearly initially intended as a right back, otherwise we came into the season having only signed one right wing back. We also signed Ribeiro last January who again doesnt fit into this formation, nor does Pickering who didnt seem to be tried to move on in the summer but now is surplus.

We didnt cover ourselves at centre back even for a back 4, but certainly not for a back 3.

Hopefully O'Riordan comes in and is ready, but he has been playing for a struggling League 1 team. Pratt cant be seen as the norm, its an absolute testament to him that hes slotted in seamlessly having been playing at such a low level. The circumstances were fortunate for him in that Litherland was injured at the time, theres no way the club intended to have him starting games any time soon otherwise he would have been loaned out at such a low level. He clearly wasnt seen as immediately first team standard, and because he was at such a low level, it made it possible to recall him as opposed to O'Riordan. How Pratt has done since has been as impressive on his part as no doubt surprising especially to the decision makers at the club.

Theres no point saying we have x options with Wharton and in particular Carter. Cant remotely be relied upon.

Or they loaned Montgomery and Pratt out to Chorley because they could be recalled at a moment's notice - and obviously they wouldn't even have to move house.

I am not having that there was such an immediate expectation that they would make the first team.

Or that was it eighth tier football was where they should be playing. Especially Pratt.

Yep, TGH is clearly top half of League 1 standard, was fine at Birmingham last season, but offloaded this year as he offers very little at Championship level

I think he's a bog standard Championship CM. A bit like Travis - a trier (only he's not built like a whippet like Lewis is, so doesn't quite cover the same amount of ground).

He played CM,  DM and, bizarrely, RW for Yverdon Sport. Scored 4 goals last season, 8 the year before (at a lower level).

Yeah otherwise we might end up signing players like De Neve, Tavares, Forshaw, Henrikssen Kargbo, TGH Miller, Gueye etc...........

Better leave it to the professionals eh?

I'm not here to convince you otherwise - just stating my opinion that as older Academy prospects (think they're both 22) they've both been kept on ice as 'first reserve' should injuries happen and loaned out to a club / level where we can immediately recall them.

I shouldn't think they were highly rated prospects, but who knows with this club anymore.
