  1. The hope now has to be, now almost all the players who didn't want to play for the manager spreading bad vibes everywhere have been shipped out... This questionable manager has got the types of players in he wants to work with and it yields results. A win tomorrow with some good performances from the new boys will really lift spirits. There is a massive amount of pressure on Gestede because it's clearly his and his teams approach to be a trading club of finding unproven European gems. If it fails... His career in the board rooms of football SHOULD be dead.
  2. Gueye top, Axel, Tavares, Beradji, Miller, Hyam, Mcgloughlin, Alebiosu, means Tronstad, Kargbo & Ribeiro will be the only players under 6ft 2... I hope that bloody counts for something.
  3. I get that but he scored a few goals and got a few assists in the Swiss league. Surely can't be the attacking player we need to come in and be expected to score the goals and provide that assists we need.
  4. Am I misunderstanding what the manager is saying? Was he talking about us being close (ish) to signing an attacker or is Beradji the player he's talking about?
  5. Not that a penny will be reinvested like...
  6. It's got EVERYTHING to do with being entitled when it comes to "professional" footballers and their agents.
  7. Fair enough, the club is a shambles but my primative tribal self seeing former kids who haven't made it giving it large about "making it out" of the former premier league champions is thinking... Get to fuck you entitled prick, football owes you NOTHING.
  8. On the flip side, we took a risk and signed him believing he would valuable enough to take up one of those slots but hasn't fulfilled his potential and worth to fill the spot... Therefore released. I'd argue it's actually pretty fair, decisive and cut throat which is what I want to see tbh. No one should take this as if I'm impressed by the current management at the club, just calling it as it is.
  9. Can't say I'm one of those who feels sorry for Mafoumbi... He got an opportunity to come to England and make it. He hasn't made it and has been let go. Happens all the time in football. It's ruthless. Just because it's Rovers doesn't make it any different.
  10. Well, after a poor first half from both teams I didn't think it was a game we deserved to lose. That said, it just feels like there's bad ju ju around the place at the moment that this manager is simply not good enough to mask like the other managers we've had. I thought Birmingham were poor and our midfield let us down and handed them the game. I feel sorry for Kargbo and a few others who grafted and didn't get anything out of the game. I thought AK had a great game. Tavares was really poor, he looks tidy and a capable player but he let us down today. I can see this being a long season with a lot of performances and results like that. Took my 8 year old son for first time in a while, didn't help getting him to support Rovers much as he's saying he's not keen on going back... I don't blame him, neither am I.
  11. I get everyone is pissed off, I've been pissed off for 15 years 😂... But the amount of comments writing off 17 & 18 year old kids is a bit rough lads. We shouldn't even be judging these lads in the first place, they're being chucked in before they're ready. I'm certainly not telling folk how to think or feel but I think our bitterness should be least directed at these kids.
  12. I hate everything about what's going on at the moment but It's all the faffing about and lack of conviction that pisses me off. For the players that want to leave, get it done ASAP so everyone can start a fresh. I can't be fucking bothered going into another game of the season with players who have one eye on the door, who don't want to play for the manager (even if he is shite)... I want to pay money to watch lads who want to be at the club and prove themselves at least. If Triantis is available and has proved himself last season the get Trav out the door and get him in. Get the right winger in aswell. By the time it all gets sorted out we could be without a win and rock bottom FFS. It all needs sorting ASAP, get it done ye bunch of dicks.
  13. Must be Beradji or Miyoshi coming in then.
  14. I'd personally put Alebiosu as a firm positive. Big, strong & quick. Managed to put in a cross from nowhere yesterday with 2 players around him, Hedges has never done that. I think he'll be a very useful player and has all the attributes to be more than that.
  15. Montgomery already looks miles better in the middle
  16. Seeing a few of you saying Tavares as Travis replacement... He shouldn't be his replacement, the player we sign when he leaves should be his replacement. Don't excuse these cheap fuckers with getting away with pocketing even more cash!
  17. Massive pressure on Gestede to replace Travis with someone better. If he has the balls to sell the club captain then he needs to have the balls to prove himself and replace him adequately. If you think you're so good, fucking prove it.
  18. Play miller RB and push Alebiosu up.
  19. Bit of ashame we didn't get Miyoshi in for Birmingham. Would've been destined to score.
  20. I'm not saying I'm content, we lost and had one shot on target, it isn't good enough. What I'm saying is I think there are players to work with to improve and that we're one or 2 decent signings away from being a decent side. I completely understand why people are pissed off, I am with the way the club is run and the lack of investment but make no mistake, this is a shit league with not that much quality in it and a few decent signings and organisation can take you a long way... As we proved last season. Our home form has always been something that's kept us from struggling, we need to start well on Saturday.
  21. I'm as pessimistic as anyone but I don't think things are bad as being made out. Yesterday was 2 typical championship teams playing a very typical championship game with not much in it. I didn't think we looked a worse team than West Brom in the 2nd half, in fact I thought we looked better just didn't have enough in the final third. I'm seeing a lot of negativity on the new signings, based on what I saw... Alebiosu, Miller and Tavares will do fine and be very useful and hard to play against. The problem yesterday was the players who were here last season. Miller's throw in ability automatically picks Gueye ahead of Ohashi in my opinion, would be silly to waste Gueye's arial ability on his throw-ins. We all know we didn't create enough chances but I think it's a bit simplistic to assume that's down to the strikers and that we don't have enough up front. We didn't create hardly any chances, the midfielders didn't overload hardly, Travis or Tronstad didn't gamble to try and break the lines. The forwards can't score goals if you don't give them anything to attack or chase. Once we find some balance, have an outlet on the right with Kargbo on the left and perhaps sort selling Trav for a hungrier younger player, we could look like a decent side. Lots of if's and buts there of course but considering West Brom will be talking about pushing for playoffs I think if we bed in the new boys and make one or 2 decent signings we're no worse than them. Fine margins but I think I good signing or two will be the difference.
  22. Won a few 1 on 1 duels, looks tall and athletic. Promising.
  23. Massive? He probably cost about 250k. Set your expectations low.
