Can't believe most haven't seen him play - simply he is not a Premiership player from my observations Reminds me of a certain Mr Ward - maybe Bellamy can make up for the guys misgivings though and he proves to be an asset and as normal lets see how he does in the best footy shirt in the World first before judging.

And this has been confirmed where? With the dropping and changing that was to be seen at the end of last season.. this would seem to put doubts in that comment.

Chaps Chaps It has to be agreed there is the possibility that what TND has been rumoured could be the actual and the statement from JW is just fabrication - but does anybody know what S/T sales where like last season at this stage - from memory they where poor so just because JW has said they are the same at this stage doesn't meant they are good. However, if this MB is a fair reflection of Rovers fans across the board -the votes thus far would suggest encouraging results in terms of renewals. However, I suspect sales will be down and the renewals in so far are mainly from the hardcore of say 8k and we will not see any significant increase from herein listnening to comments from other Rovers fans. I have renewed mine despite my comments previously, at the moment though I am considering WHY and could well be tempted to cancel. -

Yes and no re your more funds/st ratio Bob F - as EIT has said previously - its relatively small play as part of income nowadays - problem is that we are paying big bucks to average players (lesser product) which is what annoys - maybe not our fault but the state of Football at the moment. I go on holiday tomorrow and am still undecided yet what to do about my S/T - but MB has hit it on the head when he says the club haven't really done anything to entice the floating fan to buy (regardless of price) never mind the exisiting S/T holders. -
Tend to disagree with you there Eddiea nd side with Revidge- more like we took 3 steps forward and 4 back, as IMO we are probably in a worse position now in terms of on the pitch in calibre of player, our dwindling crowd numbers and the hope for the future. Add to this the factors of the Wigan being given the £25m kitty and now the Hammers Chairman pledging £20m for players and salaries sort of adds to the battle.

WIGAN S/T PRICES Out of interest Wigan have now issued the Prices of Season tickets - dearest £375 - after consulting the other clubs. In addition we have been categorised as an 'A' (expected) fixture which according this will be £25 for home fans but doesn't say what they will charge for away fans however they can accommodate 5400 -

Rovers did this last Season but cannot comment on previous However, based on what is happening at the moment re who we are 'supposedly interested in' doesn't breathe confidence - add to that what looks like the impeding sale of Stead (a player most fans feel is our best striker at the moment) and I wouldn't hold out much hope. Hughes is the one that said we will have to be more adventurous in attack next season - getting rid of a promising striker is not the way in my book and considering the amount we are likely to get from his sale does not exactly pave the way for us to bring in anybody of greater calibre -

I hate to say it Paul but I feel exactly the same - in fact there is so much clawing going on at the moment with my head/heart I don't know what I am going to do - basically on the fact - will it cost me more to sit in 'my' seat or will I have to move to the 'cheap seats' and can I really afford considering I have my wedding to save for. I am trying to cut costs at every point (insurance/tv/phone etc) which is why I wnat info sooner rather than later. -
[Archived] European Cup

And yet again another boing final - as with most Cup finals - nowadays teams don't seem to go out to try and win, more containing the opposition with the object of snatching a goal. Personally I have lost interest in most of European games due to the structure of the competitions. Problem is, its also an element that is creeping into the domestic game which is stagnating the game as we know it. Lets just hope it turns out to be opposite to what I have said above and is a 'showpiece' final as it should be. 318353 How was that for you? 318532 Quite enjoyed it in all honesty Le Chuck - at least it turned out to be a sort of 'showpiece' with AC milan showing some exquisite Football (1st half)and scoring one of the best goals I have ever seen in terms of teh build up and finish then Liverpool taking it by the scruff of the neck in the 2nd half. As for showing into be the greatest competition - just showed me why it is exactly not the greatest competition and makes a mockery of its name with a -'non champ' winning it. In addition it also showed yet again that refs don't have a clue about rules especially penalties considering Dudeks positioning. Restored some faith in me with regards to British Football and was refreshing listening to Carragher after the match, him saying that at half time they thought they where dead and buried but that they didn't want to me known as the losers who lost 5/6 nil so they had to do something about it - and look what happened. However a good win and a final to grace finals which is how it should be -

1 v 0 Defoe (now where have I seen that before) and even more if we play like we did against Fulham -
FA USELESS Interesting comments from the P/L re the FA - not something new to most of us though.
-
Well what with our new found defence and our strength not to ship goals like we where and Newcastle having been on a bit of a slump I think we will just nick this one 1- 0 - Shearer to score (og ? Its one we have (had) to win and I think the crowd will be up for it with Flowers swinging from the rafters of the BB End Bar with the noise and his 'BOTTLE' (x10) of Newcy Brown Stuff
-
That is an excellent write up by the Geordie, and certain aspects could be applied to the game and many other clubs including our very own and shows the contempt towards supporters and their feelings in the 'modern' game - even though at least our club does at times appear to have one ear at least to the fans.

But therein is the problem - the service to the poor lad had not be good and him working his socks off up front only gets him limited opportunities. Stead is not the type of player to work the front role on his own -well at least not yet - but he is better than Dickov. After seeing the highlights of their match at Boro , as already mentioned they where playing pretty well and only collapsed once they conceeded - now knowing they have to win and our fear and inability of scoring goals it looks to me we might be in for a bit of pressure. 0 v 0 or 1 -0 to the Throstles if we play (or not play to be more exact) anything like we did on Saturday -

BR Its not the best place for parking but obviously always depends on what time you get there (unless you park away and want to walk a distance) Tend to park on the hotel (travel lodge?) that is just of the motorway and roundabout 3rd exit I think then first right and right again back under the motorway about £5/£6. There is also a sports bar there where you can get a drink and only 5 min walk from the ground. Would make sure you are on the road by 4-30 if leaving Blackpool though so you can get past MCR etc ahead of the rush hour and probably just miss the Brum rush hour/day -
[Archived] Intertoto Cup
CAPT KAYOS replied to promoted2001's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Personall I tend to disagree with most and think we should apply. The basis for this to me is it would be ample opportunity to give some fringe players (inc Jansen) and youngsters an opportunity to play in competitive games without too much ( at that stage) to worry about and also help with the pre season - if we go out we go out - if we progress then we end up in the UEFA Cup and the more established players take over and have had the opportunity to see what the others can do. At the end of the day - pre season is part and parcel and we play 'friendlies' as such anyway, which in all analysis the early games in the Intertoto are really. -
Does nobody else find this scenario disappointing and worrying?
-
Nope I did too But another thibg I noticed is much of the Rovers and from all accounts so where the Arsenal fans in our game. As we all know though, the disaster at Hillsborough was not the result of people standing in the ground - but of apparent lack of organisation and control by the Police. As for the tickets for the final - £65 I would have paid as it would be a final (as mentioned previously my limit is £30 unless a one off/special game) but £90 would have crossed the line, as I'm sure it would be with many others.
