  1. Mr Roversmum reckons the ideal situation would be Mark Hughes and Colin Hendry - Mark could go off to Wales when needed leaving Big Col looking after things! However, as mentioned on another thread, when the idea was put to him last night Colin said he thought he ought to get Blackpool winning a few matches first!
  2. As long as he doesn't offer them all jobs at Newcastle come the January Transfer Windon.. I'm imagining the list at Brockhall: Caretaker Manager: Tony Parkes Assistant Caretaker Manager: Tony Parkes First Team Coach: Tony Parkes Assistant First Team Coach: Tony Parkes Strikers' coach: Tony Parkes Reserves Manager: Tony Parkes Assistant Reserves Manager: Tony Parkes Reserves Coach: Tony Parkes Physio: Tony Parkes Tea Lady: not Tony Parkes (now there's a surprise) I don't even want to think about the team sheet........
  3. I've been looking through the history books and this 'greatest team' task is going to get harder. There have been some fantastic players through the years.
  4. No chance! There will be a 1-1 draw, with the first ever 'time taken off' instead of 'time added on' thereby negating the goal that Rovers scored in the 40th second of the 45th minute
  5. Well as far as I know I'm the only Granny on here, and I've no intention of apologising for it. And I may be older than you, rik, but I'm definitely wiser. Now, my advice is, stop sulking in the corner, join in the threads and enjoy the site!
  6. I'd rather be stuck in a lift with Souey than Jason McAteer!
  7. Fresian? No, one of those rather big stamping snorting animals they use for bull-fighting, that would be more like it!
  8. Some of you are unbelievable! Yorke has gone, so meet Matty, the new scapegoat. Whatever the ins and outs of the situation, Matty has a contract. Firstly, no-one knows what is in Matty's contract except him, his agent and John Williams/Souey. Why do people come up with figures out of thin air? Secondly, the contract has another season to run. What do you expect the club to do? They can "suggest" he looks for another club, but they can't force him to do so, he has a contract. It doesn't matter about the whys and wherefores of Matty's accident, and all that stuff, it happened. It's a tragedy for us and for him, but he is doing his best to get over it. He still has a contract. Interesting, and somewhat relevant, article here. (LET Thursday "Jay Has Qualities to be Premier Hit"
  9. He'll need a map to find the goal.... Singing loud and clear!
  10. Lure of the Premiership? Ha! Probably some nightclubs in Brum he and Dunny haven't tried and it's closer to those in London too. Very strange signing in my opinion. Wonder what Stevie Bruce thinks he can get out of Dwight that we can't? The 'rejuvenated' Dwight didn't last long at Rovers; things must have been ongoing on Saturday judging from his scintilating performance on Saturday. Did anyone notice - going back to the MU match - on tv as they panned in to the MU team arriving in their dressing room, our Dwighty rushing forward to greet them, and dodging off a bit sharpish when he noticed that he was on camera?
  11. I saw some people being stopped from putting up a banner at the Blackburn End yesterday. Why?
  12. I am so sad for us fans and for Matty. I hope we will have a chance to say 'goodbye and thank you' to him.
  13. Not sure if I would go that far, but I could think of several who might have benefited from a good kicking
  14. Please explain why we have to keep bringing this up? We have more than "paid" already for that - if we needed to in the first place. Surely anyone watching that goal would have seen that Gally was in the process of being fouled when that happened, and that was the reason why the ball hit his arm - would you rather the ref had awarded a penalty for him being fouled (which might have been missed)? Tsk. If I hear this mentioned again you will go and stand in the corner for an hour. Time-keeping. The ass. ref was waving the board about for some time before he actually put it up so the game had already gone well over time. He had put 3 on it, when Fergie held up his hand and then four fingers, when the (if I could say a naughty word it would be here) ass. ref changed it to four. I'm going to lie down, it's been rather a week. Oh, and why was Ronaldo shaking the living daylights out of Tugay just before the goal?
  15. No Gally? Oh dear........ I was relying on him to come on and cause a bit of trouble.
  16. I've sent them an email pointing out their error - in a very nice way of course
  17. A view from the 'other side' here. Has a fair bit of imagination I must say, I'm surprised he only predicts a 3-0 win to the Arse.
  18. Didn't see you at the Reserve match at Christie Park?????? No doubt the lure of Bingo was too strong for you to ignore. Souey did come up with a new one actually It was "the rub of the green"
  19. Not much hope after watching Arse play Boro. They will trounce us. Lehmann to serve hot chocolate and butties in his goal during the first half of the match (nowt else for him to do) and have a snooze tucked up in his sleeping bag during the second half, setting his alarm clock to wake him just before full-time. We're doooooooooooooooooomed, I say, DOOOOOOOOOOOOMED! On the other hand, we might win 6-3. (Think positive, we WILL win 6-3). Then again.......... Thank goodness I'm helping a friend move house on Thursday and Friday, something else to think about.
  20. Absolutely. Roversactive just made the very same point to me a few minutes ago. It doesn't count though. For heaven's sale, it's the second game of the season. We should have 42 points and be at the top of the table, don't you understand that? Souness (or somebody) out
  21. Tactics aside, there were two reasons why we conceded a goal in the first half of Saturday's match. Matteo's foul leading to the free kick and the failure of the wall to do it's job. If those two things had not happened; the changes would have been made at half time and Short's goal would have won the game. Let's get over it and get on with the season. We've some tough matches ahead and Souey and the boys need support. Be positive. After the match tomorrow you'll probably find a whole new set of stuff to moan about....... Happy Days!
  22. Perhaps they should be playing netball Paul. Belive me, they haven't got the stamina for netball tournaments!
  23. I believe the crowd was around 24,500 which I thought wasn't bad. Very disappointed with Matteo. Not impressed with all the free kicks he gave away - including the one leading to the goal, and the pulling of Kanu's shirt getting him a yellow card. Not necessary, Matteo, thank you. The referee was a disgrace. One or two of WBA's players - that Haas for example, got away with virtually murder. A foot here, an elbow there, at one point holding a player back by the neck, a numer of fouls by them actually won them free kicks. What was that all about referee? Still it did the trick for them and they were well pleased with a point. After reflection and seeing highlights on Sky I feel we have the makings of a good team. Ferguson, Yorke, Gray, Short and the wonderful Tugay - well done guys. I also feel the absence of Flitty was a bonus and am convinced that if he had been playing we would have lost the game. I'm not happy about players going off for internationals mid-week, we still have another three games in a fortnight and could do without that. Looking at the other games on Sky, other teams' defences generally look fairly poor so we should be able to score, but we do need some crossing practice and please leave out the long balls.
