  1. The bloke who was charged last week with racially abusing Dwight Yorke, Jason Perryman, is in danger of losing his job over it. The Citizen reports that he has been suspended pending an internal investigation and will know in a few days what his fate will be. His employers are Tesco and they say they will not tolerate racism.
  2. No. See, now, here we go again. Anyone would think most of you didn't have the ability to speak. Go and talk to the drummer. And/or arrange to meet up and sort out some chants or songs instead of moaning. He's only supporting the club he loves, and trying to get some atmosphere going. Still, I suppose if you did anything about it, it would take up valuable drinking time and we can't have that, can we? Tsk
  3. Just a report from the article, tnd. My view is the same as yours! However, it looks as if Dwight is showing his true form - he doesn't help himself really, does he?
  4. Interesting article from an unexpected source in yesterday's Mail. Sadly they haven't put it on line as far as I can see. Basically, Mo Camara (Burnley left back who is also black and a muslim) agrees with quotes made by David Sullivan about the Dwight Yorke incident. He says the best thing to do with racists is ignore them. He says it shouldn't become a big issue, it is only a small problem, because it is just a few people who have problems, and they should be pitied. He thinks Dwight's beset answer is to score three or four goals 'this weekend' ( ). He thinks all the publicity will encourage people who are a handful of misfits who like to 'see themselves on television doing those things'. He was actually at the match with a Birmingham supporting friend. He says he heard the booing and asked his friend who said it was because Blackburn supporters weren't happy with the way Dwight played for them, but stresses he heard nothing racist. He saw what had happened on tv next day and says there are too many cameras which make things seem a lot worse. He says there is too much talking about it and it is time to move on. Respect for Camara.
  5. She could be in trouble if there are a lot of wins.............
  6. Oh dear. (remembering some of Nissa's previous efforts at left back) Go, Gally, Go
  7. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Sorry, noooooooooo! Not the Reserves! They're doing quite well at the moment. I'd say perhaps he could do a job at Clayton Community (He'd only have to pay £2 a match to play) but JJ is doing well there at the moment so there isn't really a place. I've said it before. The only sight I want to see of Matteo is his back as he and Flitty depart hand in hand from Ewood. Anyway. Think I heard Boa Morte's injured and they're putting Radzinski in. Not feeling as confident as last week (look where that got me) so 2-1 to Rovers.
  8. Apologies if anyone has stated it before, but Thommo started off as a centre mid and it's his preferred position.
  9. I think Andy was forced to leave Rovers. The way he lingered on the pitch and looked round after the players' lap of the field made me feel quite sad. I'd give him a cheer, but only the one, mind. He's a Fulham player now.
  10. I am very angry about this whole thing. It's in newspapers all round the world now, with all the 'facts' embroidered beyond recognition, besmirching the name of our beloved club, occasionally in the small print deep in the articles that 'two or three' 'fans' were involved. I abhor racism, it really is so unnecessary, we are all God's people and of equal worth imho, but I feel that I have a little insight having been married to a Trinidadian for nearly twenty years. His relatives are as dear to me as my own blood relatives, and some are even closer. Although my husband was once targeted by the BNP (before I met him) I can honestly say the only incidents of racism I have experienced since being with him were against me when visiting Trinidad with him. I've been called various things in my time (some true, some not!) so it didn't worry me in the least. If the incident hadn't happened so soon after the Spanish fiasco, I doubt it would have even been noticed. It was wrong, and the guy needs sorting out, but the way the media (including DY) is carrying on is absolutely shocking. The media loves a chance to deride Blackburn Rovers, and, boy, has it been handed to them on a plate.
  11. I was disappointed with Emerton yesterday. He seemed to keep getting himself into positions where he simply didn't know what to do with himself or the ball, and frequently lost the ball. However, he was obviously tired towards the end of the match and I would have liked to see MGP given 10-15 minutes at the end.
  12. We asked a steward who was there after the game, he said there were no monkey chants, the fans were singing 'one lazy barsteward', I believe someone made a gesture and Dwight went for him. The fan was taken out.
  13. Re Morten Not strictly true. The last match played for Rovers was in the Reserves a few weeks ago and the least said about that the better. And you would have seen a reason why he isn't getting a chance. Still, at least there won't be any carping because he isn't playing in the Reserves match tomorrow
  14. But Mark Hughes did say he wanted to check out every player and there were to be no more loans until he had done so. Does more need to be said?
  15. I don't know if it was the rain, but there didn't seem to be any 'buzz' about the game. Gally's goal was a peach but they all seemed ready to give up too easily. Last week they seemed much more up for it in spite of the weather.
  16. Well that's just bloody great. Souness MK2 A rumour? So it must be true then..... Don't forget that in Eddie N, Mark has what must be one of the best former Reserve team coaches in the country (Arsenal, anyone?) whom, looking at the lads he has brought on, knows his stuff. He was at our Reserve match on Wednesday last watching goings-on intently and I am certain he has been giving our Acadamy youngsters the once-over as well. Fear not, if any of them are capable of being brought on they will be nurtured.
  17. Plus the fact that they'll cotton on to the fact that he doesn't use his right foot, if they challenge him on that side he can't cope. He's actually looked worse in the middle at Reserves.
  18. True, 92er (re Jay Mc). I must admit it rather worried me when Mark Hughes said something along the lines of "he'll never do that again"! I thought he did rather well otherwise though - much better than his general Reserve input. And he'll always be a top lad for me after the David Beckham incident The different faces seemed to really freshen the team up.
  19. Funny thing, young McEveley gifted Man Ure Reserves a goal from a sloppy back pass in the Reserves on Wednesday last.
  20. Sadly, I heard that Matteo had an achilles injury.... I hope that doesn't mean that we'll see the blighter back when he's recovered - the only sight I want to see of him is his back on his way out.....
  21. Is that wise? You can do a lot of damage with a screwdriver.......
  22. Thanks to Stuwilky for the time and trouble taken on this issue. Pity about the flags in a way because most people who would want to display them are probably in congested areas where there are't many spaces to put them. How about the club putting in a few sneaky microphones around and turning the volume up ....... It's fair to say that the stewards need to keep in mind that not everyone is a potential troublemaker - I've had issue with Stuart over that before last season - but unfortunately the lad I was trying to stand up for let himself down by trying to make himself look good by swearing.
  23. No, didn't see it. Do tell
  24. How did you get hold of my Christmas picture, Cletus? American has a nice picture of me in my younger days on page 5 though!! Great stuff, lads!
  25. Hughes isn't just going to sit back and wait for something to happen. He wants to prove his worth as a manager and so he will do everything he can to turn things round. Thing is, we've the same bunch of players who effectively beat Man Utd (playing a fair bit of the match with 10 men) so they can't be that bad! It's been a difficult time with Souey leaving so unexpectedly and Mark still involved with the Welsh team; they've only had a short time as a unit. I know it's very worrying for us as supporters but there's time yet to turn things round.
