  1. No, what he was saying was it might be better not to keep posting all the essays as it has been done before, and I suggested giving links so that those who needed to do so could go there to prevent the message board being clogged up with such long posts - also website links could prove to be more useful, for information for those who felt they could offer something - help or something practical for example. The discussion is not the question.
  2. Skemlad. Perhaps you could be bothered to read roversactive's post as you are so keen for him to read yours. I saw this tradegy happen. It's beyond words. Beyond comprehension. Beyond belief. You want justice. Anyone would. But could you not just put links up for us? As roversactive says, we have read these articles, some of us were there, some of us saw it on tv. All of us mourned, some of us wept, as I do even now thinking about it. All of us wish (for want of a more emotive word) that it had never happened. The Sun printed - possibly in good faith - what someone reported. It shouldn't have done so, it has admitted so and attempted an apology. It shouldn't have been written, it shouldn't have been printed, but it was. Unfortunately with today's thirst for information and, yes, sensationalism, such publications are careless with the truth. And I doubt that anyone who isn't directly involved could truly understand. There is surely more dignity for anyone concerned in honour. Honour your boycott, but remember, it is your boycott. People will buy such newspapers for many reasons - but that is for another discussion. Honour those who died. Honour your quest for justice. And don't assume that others have not had tragedy in their lives please.
  3. Den, you are absolutely right. Have the Jersey Trustees got any ambition, other than keeping things ticking over? Are they planning for the future? Dothey care? If they want Rovers to be a viable business they have to produce the goods. As has been pointed out (many times) even during the 2002/2003 season when we came sixth, there were a lot of dire, lacklustre performances. Bring the passion back to the team to bring the fans back to Ewood!
  4. or shows how ###### they are! 'tis on't website link here Good news. I'm really beginning to look forward to the new season now.
  5. I see our Deano and Souey are to play in a 'veterans' match Info from the Official Site
  6. Some thoughts here - interestingly suggesting the possibility of Thompson playing alongside Barry. This could make sense as Thommo is good at making a nuisance of himself and gets around the pitch a bit. Souey also mentioned around the time of the signing of Tugay's contract that he wasn't anticipating playing him at every game. And the mention that nothing official has been heard from Celtic concerning the Andrew Cole rumour made me wonder if there had been 'unoffical' contact...........
  7. A missive from Rovers arrived this morning. Not our season tickets as hoped (ordered soon after they were advertised), but a letter enquiring why we hadn't yet renewed our season tickets............ Doh!
  8. Lee will be back tomorrow, you can give him some grief about it!!!!!!
  9. It's always the same at this time of year. Mr Roversmum is always morose and gives me a hard time and it always seems to coincide with the cricket. And the throat-slitting of Rovers 'fans' is in full swing before the lads are even back in training. I know we've been through this before, rover6, but De Pedro was really good in the World Cup and he should be good for Rovers. Dickov causes trouble for defenders and Matteo (if he comes) is a reasonable defender and can play other positions. Then there is Jon Stead and the return of Ferguson and Thompson, and a fit Amoruso (ah, Amoruso ). Hopefully one or two of the youngsters can be brought on, too. I feel we have a lot to look forward to - and not just the end of the cricket season!
  10. Here we go again. I don't suppose any of you has knowledge of the terms and conditions of Mr Flitcroft's contract. I would expect that there would be cover for eventualities in it - Souey would have known his ultimate plan even then. As it happened, it was surely somewhat fortunate that Flitty was still around given Thompson and Bazza's absence during the season. Otherwise surely Flitty would have already been gone (remember the rumours?). And at least there could be some bargaining power should another club wish to add Mr Flitcroft to their squad. Whatever happens Flitty has been a good servant to Rovers over several years.
  11. Just wondering - what's everyone's take on the player in the background? Is he trying to indicate (to the ref or linesman) that there is a push or is he lamenting the possibility of a goal, as he was waving his arms about before it even happened. Personally, I'm still not convinced that the ref's decision was right, he had already got several wrong imo. Oh well, back to the drawing board...........
  12. Well, it's been coming. Ferguson is the obvious choice to replace Flitty as Captain and it might as well be now. No doubt any slackers will get their ears well and truly bent, don't think our Bazza will take any prisoners! Truly, Flitcroft has been more of a liability for some time now. Doubt there has been a bust-up, but it is a rather heavy hint that if Flitty is not happy with the situation there is yet time in the transfer window for him to be looking elsewhere. No doubt someone in the Championship ( ) would be grateful for his skills.
  13. In the interests of research (or so he says) Mr Roversmum has been busy watching his tapes of the Spanish matches circa World Cup 2002. The lad is certainly most impressive. Mr Cole and young Jon should be able to make much of his superb crosses. Roll on the new season.......
  14. Spanish? Well, when we went to Spain we managed quite well with "Ola", "Gratius", Sangria and a bit of arm waving. I'm sure Souey can manage more than that! Great signing. Things are beginning to look encouraging.
  15. Absolutely, Soueyisgod. The worst part of it is that the usual hysteria will follow and there will be an excuse to ban English fans - the majority of whom are decent law-abiding people who just want to follow their team.
  16. They'll have to hurry up with the new kit then, so they can parade him in a Rovers shirt. I've got a sewing machine I'm willing to lend..........
  17. And that's exactly how it looks to me from the terraces . If Tugay is given 2 or 3 options then he'll chose the right one - the one which lesser players wouldn't even notice . The problem this season has been more about the limitations of the midfielders around Tugay than the player himself . Furthermore if the less enthusiastic and capable Flitcrofts and Emertons of this world had more about them , then Tugay would be able to preserve his energy a little longer. As Revidge said earlier , the prospects of a totally run of the mill midfield (Ferguson has yet to blossom) is hardly mouth watering . Those of us who like to watch a bit of cultured football will surely be pi££ed off if this news is true. Hear hear, Phil and Phil. Phil and Phil's observations have also been made in the Roversmum household. One other thing noted - Tugay's at his best in the warmer weather...
  18. I fear you could be right, latd. I don't want Andy to go either, I feel he still has a lot to offer Rovers and he obviously has strong feelings for the club and fans. We can only wait and see what the next few weeks reveal
  19. Thanks for that, Alan. Nice to see Dunny again, I miss the blighter. It must be nostalgia at the end of another season Had to laugh at this:
  20. Not really. The Official Site Message Board only re-opened a couple of days ago with new software after being closed for several months. It's now up and running again.
  21. Yes, please! Anyone got an inflatable David Dunn? Oh, I forgot, the real thing will be there! (note to the team - and don't forget we owe them a trouncing....)
  22. Well, they may be awash with money, players etc but I'm glad I'm not a Chelsea supporter!
  23. I did get confused when walking around picking up the bargains and then finding after about 30 minutes shopping that they didnt take credit cards/switch Strange, I've used both in there before. "System Failure" Typical when you're on a mission of supreme importance!
