  1. Excellent post thenodrog. There seem to be some who think they are better fans than others if they constantly criticise and others who will never hear a bad word said about the club! Football makes people lose perspective often. To be fair though, Shilito was just mentioning about Brad on free kicks, not having a massive whinge. Brad has let in goals from quite a few free kicks this season. Newcastle (h), Liverpool (a) and Lampard's for Chelsea (a)...all of them should have done with better by both goalkeeper and defence.
  2. Cynical in thinking the FA would want to give Man U a helping hand in the Football League Cup, which has nothing to do with the FA and is competition for its own trophy, the FA Cup??? No not at all Stu... As for Nelsen...ridiculous if he receives any punishment for what he has said.
  3. We should have more energy than them. One game less we had to play thanks to the weather and now they have to journey up to Ewood. Hopefully we'll obliterate them in the later stages. The papers will blame it on Pompey being tired...but who cares?
  4. Think you got the wrong end of the stick there vyeo, the report says - "Pedersen is Rovers' joint top scorer with five league goals alongside Craig Bellamy, which has also impressed Spurs, " The reporter is suggesting that Spurs are impressed by MGP's number of goals rather than Bellamy. Still..Spurs have enough midfielders, leave MGP alone!* * Unless that is they are willing to pay well over the odds.
  5. Blackburn rumble Latics tactics but on-target Pedersen in Spurs' sights The match report from The Guardian (link above) contains two strange comments relating to MGP... 1) Pedersen is going to be the subject of a bid from Spurs in the transfer window. and 2) This..."he has arguably been Blackburn's best player this season and is the nearest thing they have to a playmaker in midfield"...surely everyone knows that if Rovers have a playmaker then it must be Tugay surely? Can't really see Spurs making a bid, they already have shedloads of midfielders. Or has cuidado been spreading rumours on the Spurs website, the team he/she supports???
  6. Am I imagining this or have some posts gone missing from this thread???
  7. It is a shame but overdue. Should really have had a try for a new club in the summer. The pay-as-you-play contract seems to have been one where Jansen received a basic amount according to that report then? 500k in wages saved?? Dwight Yorke was supposedly on a "pay-as-you-play" contract I seem to remember that all that added up to in the end was that he recieved a big bnus when he played to add to his wage. All the best to Matt for the future. Never reached his full potential. Give a lot for us some great memories but should have also given so much more. If only Sven had picked him for the World Cup in 2006 instead of Martin Keown...bloody Tord Grip!
  8. Hmm...maybe the match being called off wasn't so bad for the Rovers fans after all. At least, not the 5,000 or so at the JJB stadium today... How much did the rest contribute to such a comprehensive victory?
  9. Why would either want to call their game off? Both clubs lose money and inconvenice fans. It also means Newcastle miss the chance to beat a very out-of-sorts Charlton (who may find better form by the time of the rescheduled game) and it means Bolton just still have another game to fit in amid their FA Cup games and Uefa Cup tie.
  10. What about John Curtis and Martin Taylor?
  11. Wasted journey angers Cats "Just when you think your season can't get any worse, this happens. The sad thing is, it's probably the best result we've had all season. We'll have to just come down when the rematch is on. We'll probably already be relegated by then." So...it could be worse. You could be a Mackem.
  12. Rovers are like a girlfriend who you think you believe in...but can't quite fully trust. No prediction this time around.
  13. I've said it before and it was ignored so I'll say it again...why do you have "Michael 'One Cap Waster' Gray" when he received three caps? Next time if you still ignore me I'll just call you dumb and forget the niceties.
  14. Accy will take a few fans off us if they are promoted. Not many admittedly...but we need all the help we can get nonetheless! However...I'd like to see Accy with another league team. This would be their third as this team is not related to the other two Stanley teams.
  15. Don't really see the point in loaning out Jansen. Either give him a chance here or let him go. He isn't a young kid trying to break through to the team anymore.
  16. Why on earth are people blaming the FA? It's the LEAGUE Cup for crying out loud!
  17. BORO v BLACKBURN ROVERS BLAST FROM THE PAST Interesting article from a Boro site (link above) reminiscing on games of the past. If I am correct I think we have played Middlesbrough as much as we have any other team, other than maybe Villa and Sheffield United. We have certainly seemed to spend most seasons in the same division with them and had a fair few cup games. I'd happily take the win in the cup over the league game. We would close to (once again) travelling to Cardiff again.
  18. Oh well, that's good. I'm presuming though that Rangers don't have that option with Zurab?
  19. We were saying for yonks that the Everton game would be a huge crowd, then West Ham would be big because of the proximity to Christmas. Now we have to look to Sunderland and Bolton. There seems to be an element of plucking at straws when comes to our attendances this season.
  20. Thanks for the match review AESF, it was an enjoyable read.
  21. Is this the same philipl who said that England's chances in the World Cup next summer relied on Dunn getting back to fitness?
  22. Artmedia won 5-0. There isn't really a "good excuse" for that kind of performance. You are also being a little unfair on the Slovaks. They were also a little unlucky not to win through to the knockout stages like Rangers. They were only 'murdered' in one of their games, 4-0 at Internazionale. Maybe Celtic could play 3 central midfielders as in a 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 formation. Regarding Petrov saying he wants to stay at Celtic...with footballers it is best to wait until they sign. It may be that he will wait and see if there are any tasty offers in the transfer window before putting pen to paper.
  23. Comprehensive preview Colin, well done. No idea what score to predict. I'll just go for a 0-0 then after all the excitement of those goals last Saturday.
