I'd say that the overhaul you mention needs to happen simply to avoid the 'second season syndrome' - some evidence that teams are working out how to play against Rovers, [ press close to neutralise Dack, break fast, play wide and throw crosses onto our back 4 ] - points gained early season have given a decent buffer against the bottom 3 slots, but the current form is a bit of a reality check and where we are now is quite honestly where I expected us to be going into the season. Most teams have to strengthen to even maintain their position in this league, so to strengthen to an extent that allows for a sniff of promotion or even the play-offs is a very tough call. Personally I would worry about going into next season without at least 3 better starting defensive options than the back 4 that played against Birmingham - Mulgrew and Lenihan seem vulnerable to injury, jury very much out on Rodwell as a first choice CB, [and even if he'll want to stay should he get better offers at the end of his 12 months].

Where in this feeding frenzy of transfers and wages will the financial referencing to FFP happen? Are we now in the post sanction grace period where outlay versus expenditure is looked at over a number of seasons?? Or is it now commonly understood that FFP doesn’t apply ?

Not seen [or have missed] any info on the injury Rodwell picked up on Saturday - the lad was starting to make an impression and for many reasons, a period out injured won't do his [allegedly fragile] confidence any good at all, in the short term, leaves us short even of part-time centre back cover as well. Anyone an idea what his issue was?

Begs the question why he hasn't had game time with the u23's - surely better to get some match practice than just to train and to get 10 minutes here and there in the first team. Since he signed, the only full game I reckon he's had was with England u21's, the longer it goes on like that, the less likely it is that he'll make an impact when he is called on. The lad's almost being set up to fail

interesting times - BBC Sport website recently ran an article about Birmingham City maybe facing points deduction for transfer misdemeanours - would be strange to see 2 clubs put in a position of almost certain relegation so early and potentially only one relegation spot in the championship this year.
