Maybe there will be a miracle this season,but I know the dreams of that can disappear quickly. Ya, next season will be even tougher. Something about this year feels a little lite quality wise. If we don't go up,it's going to be tough. We definitely will need to replace a few just to stand still. Dack will be back in September(hopefully) ,probably October more realistically. I don't want us to be where we need him to save us. I want him to come into a winning team.

I think we could still sign someone on Smallwood's wage,even if he stayed. I do find it odd no one would take Smallwood. If I was a league 1 manager I would be on that all day to be honest.

It doesn't seem like that's the issue though. We can afford the wages of lads from Europe or the lower leagues as is. It sounds like we haggled over players outside our wage cap where we wanted the parent club to pay more.

It's not a case of us not being able to pay Atsus(for examples) wages, it's that we don't. Smallwood leaving wouldn't change that. If they want to stay, I see no major issue. Ok, well that's inexcusable in my opinion. No doubt one or more of the 2 CBs or Bell will get injured. Even allowing for the likes of JRC and Chapman, we are still light upfront.
