  1. Is there any chance of it happening? I would be , dare I say it, excited about this transfer. Take him over Maddison any day, younger and a full international. Plus after looking at some pictures of Maddison again, I wouldn't trust a player with 2 leg sleeves.
  2. Very true. He's a bit like Jordan Rhodes. His international career has been pathetic, which when you look back at how much he scored here, is very odd.
  3. Ya, but this guy has never won anything and even his win % are nothing to write home about. Does he try and play nice football or something? From his Wiki it's like Man city giving Mowbray the job.
  4. Lenihan and Nyambe would get you the bones of £5 mil each. Travis would surely get a few bob in too. Armstrong worth more than we paid for him. I still think someone would sign Gallagher for £2.5-3 mil. None the cash cow that Dack is. I wouldn't be too happy if we sold Lenihan or especially Nyambe in lieu of Dack.
  5. He probably would, but that wasn't what we were discussing. He would have cost at least £10 million and the figures I read he was on weekly were pretty ridiculous. Talk of him and Dwight Gayle serves no purpose.
  6. Wasn't like for like. The Assombolonga deal would have cost twice as much fee and wages.
  7. Ya, on the academy players I don't think Mowbray will ever integrate them correctly. Look at it this way, he has played Buckley plenty when he clearly isn't up to the physical side, but then refused to play Brereton who is the same age but with more experience at this level. He left him out so long(or played him on the wing) that whatever confidence he might have had coming here, was eroded by this stage. Mowbray sees things his own way and sometimes nobody else can figure out why. He will probably bring Wharton back only to start him right back or something like that. He is a frustrating man. As a poster mentioned in a post earlier, he is an old school manager making a ham-fisted attempt at trying to be modern. The annoying part is he does get players playing for him, so his own chopping , changing and illogical decisions are what lead to them becoming frustrated, disillusioned and out of form. He did it with Rothwell too. He seems to have coached what ability he had on the ball out of him If Mowbray kept it simple with this squad and 4-4-2 , we would be a lot better off. Gallagher on the wing like...FFS. Has there ever been a more stupid decision? Yet, he keeps doing it. Madness.
  8. There is hope for Gallagher. He tries hard when he is on and lumped in his ridiculous peak Mowbray position on the wing. He has scored goals here before. Signing players at the twilight of their career? Can you give one example other than those 2? . Downing alone shows the value in doing it. I think Johnson has had some solid games. Maybe he just needs a run in the team. Will get it now with Evans out. We have no idea what is being done with regards moving players on. As for not enough academy players being involved, I would suggest taking a look here
  9. Could someone who follows Spanish football please shed some light on why Barca appointed Setién?
  10. I have told you 2 posts ago, I have looked at footage of him and I can't see anything. Some ok finishes, but he doesn't look quick or powerful. Outpacing Mertesacker doesn't prove you are Usan Bolt. He was in a bad decline near the end at Arsenal. He certainly hasn't done much effective running at defences here. I wonder why Mowbray signed him too. We wanted Freeman and end up with Brereton for more money. 2 completely different players who play in different positions. Ya Smith could work with Dack or as a 2 with Armstrong. If we ever actually played that formation.
  11. Thanks. edit-actually that's highlights of Forest V Birmingham. Anyway, my other question- So if you watched so much of him and said he was a steal at £7 million, what would you say are his strengths?
  12. See Will Grigg is off to Blackpool. Now there was a flop. Just shows how even transfers that look nailed on to work, don't.
  13. I really need proof of him ripping a world cup winning defender apart. I really do. I dont remember him playing against us, he certainly didnt have an amazing game or anything. Even from his highlights,I couldn't identify his strengths. However I always said I would give the benefit of the doubt until I saw him play for us a few times. So if you watched so much of him and said he was a steal at £7 million, what would you say are his strengths?
  14. Whatever about Brereton being a lost cause, I think there is hope for Gallagher. You say he wont score goals, but he already has here, when he was played up front!
  15. Had heard of him? Disagree. Go back and read the first few pages of the thread.
  16. I know Chaddy,I can use google too. Had you heard of him before 4pm that Friday. Be honest.
  17. Those 2 came to mind. They had incredible raw talent
  18. https://punditarena.com/football/oisinmcqueirns2758/blackburn-reportedly-targeting-potential-move-for-irelands-ronan-curtis/ Report from an Irish website on our interest
  19. Ya, apparently Pompey wan't £3 million for Curtis and that's too much. A 23 year old full international. 11 goals last season, 10 already this season. He can play up front, on the wing and as a number 10. Wouldn't that me a much more logical signing than £6-7 million on an unproven player? Very frustrating, Curtis is going to be a player.
  20. I think most of us admitted we had never heard of Brereton before 4pm that Friday. Personally I gave him every chance before deciding if he was good or bad. Unfortunately it looks as if even Stevie Wonder would say that we have been sold a dud. I don't fully blame the lad, I think Mowbray has made a bollox of integrating him into the squad. To think of the talent we could have signed with that money and bit of scouting. We could have signed the 4 best players in League 2 or the 2 best in League 1. 2,3,4 good lads from Europe either. For all the talk about our European scouting network, ultimately our only signing from Europe is a player pretty much everyone would have known already. Hopefully he comes good though. The BB deal is a shocking transfer all round and a damaging one for a club in our position. Brentford we ain't. I can't help but feel Mowbray ok'd the signing on very little information/research. Very, very poor stuff.
  21. Fixed that for you
