  1. Lenihan and Johnson are the 2 main ones that come to mind. I would prefer Scott Carson personally , followed closely by John Ruddy
  2. He terrorised them and then terrorised us with his delivery. He needs to add considerably more consistency to his game. Take January out and he wasn't great. It does show he has the potential though. I would give Downing the nod over him as things stand.
  3. Evans, Smallwood, Davenport, Adam, Butterfield, Johnson, Travis and possibly Rodwell. Can't wait for our revolutionary 1-8-1 formation opening day. Seriously though, as I have said a few times, something has to give here. I have a sneaking feeling Evans and Smallwood will leave I think Rodwells offer should have been given a deadline, take it or leave it. It makes no sense to me that pre-season has started and he is over in Australia. I wouldn't go crazy if he re-signs ,but he hasn't done himself any favours. He would really need to put performances in and quickly. If he signs somewhere else I think we might look a bit silly, the fact we were waiting for his answer.
  4. Hart worries me a bit. You can even see his personality on the panel when surrounded by stronger characters like Roy Keane and Gary Neville. He does be like a little nervous boy!
  5. In some ways, yes. However saying the policy of signing young players is out the window, suggests that was the plan this summer and it was changed. Wheras I think we all agree we needed more experience. Plus, the window is still open!
  6. I think we could all see we needed more experience after last season. Does there have to be a conspiracy about everything?
  7. I just picked Mulgrews slightly against my better judgement, but I just stuck with players we currently have. Could have been Williams either. Ideally we sign a new centre half though. They were just some random teams I came up with. I don't think we could play one that didn't suit Dack. Knowing Mowbray, it will probably be 4-2-3-1 with Johnson, Downing and New keeper in and the rest last seasons side. I'm starting to think he's going think changing the keeper is enough. I think he will sign a centre half, but he won't start him. I would disagree with this approach. Mulgrew would need to have upped his game dramatically.
  8. Some disappeared some was invested back in on mostly shit or pricks with vested interests. I do think things have improved since Mowbray got here, but this is another window and there is still lots remaining to be done.
  9. Ya, was thinking he would cost more. He's got a nasty streak as well, which is good, as long as he doesn't go too mad!
  10. Not sure about that. I think rangers still have a few financial question marks over them. Maybe if they sell Morales. Actually we could do worse than him...
  11. No, I reckon he will go in one of the wide slots predominantly. Graham and Mowbray both spoke about his crossing ability. I can see one of him or Adam with a more physical type like Travis or Johnson in the middle, but I think Adam will get the nod more often.
  12. I suppose the good thing about wingers and pace is we do have Armstrong and, hopefully, Chapman as options. I just prefer the look of Downing in one of the slots now. I just watched so much wastage by Armstrong in particular from good positions in the final third. Clearly Downing is a good few gears slower, but no point beating the full back if A-you don't actually need to or B-the cross will be wasted anyway I would have question marks over us playing with wing backs due to the personnel. I don't know if Bell and Nyambe are well rounded enough to attack and defend effectively. I can't help but think we are going to need to add that string to our bow though. We had problems with teams who played 3 at the back last season, every time. Then we would end up just copying them. Not good enough. We need to be the ones the opposition are forced to adapt and react to, not vice versa It's a lot to do in a few weeks of pre-season when you think about it. At the end of the day results are what matter and we can't be experimenting to the detriment of them come the start of the season.
  13. Depends on the player I suppose. Some can't handle the bright lights!
  14. It's more than being in London though. Their scouting, particularly in Europe, has been too notch and they are now reaping the benefits.
  15. A fair bit because they sold 2 players for a combined £32 million
  16. https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/ The world champions lost 5-2 to Dallas under 15 boys. Not the first time this has happened either. The Australians got an even worse beating off an under 15 boys team https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3609949/Matildas-lose-7-0-Newcastle-Jets-15s-Rio-Olympics-warm-up.html
  17. Weren't we linked with Roofe last summer? He would be a good signing for sure
  18. So a promised change of approach, a few more ballers in the door and potentially a few more to come. What formation would people like to see this season? To keep us on track, lets just discuss players who have signed or are on trial. No potential signings as things can go dream team pretty quickly. Be as elaborate as you like, bring tactics into it too if you know a bit. Can we please not turn this into a moanfest? If you want to moan, keep scrollin! We know we need a keeper and center half. Everybody to a man or woman knows this. Here are 3 potential formations. I think for any of them to work we need to drastically improve our deliveries in the final 3rd. Hopefully Downing can go some way to improving this. We were so wasteful last season from dangerous positions. Bell and Armstrong the worst offenders. I know he has divided opinion as well, but I'm actually a bit excited about having someone in the middle like Adam who is comfortable on the ball and gets it moving forward. 3-5-2 Leutwiler Mulgrew Lenihan Williams Nyambe Adam Bell Johnson Travis Dack Graham 4-2-3-1 Leutwiler Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Travis Johnson Rothwell Dack Downing Graham 4-3-3 Leutwiler Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Adam Johnson Downing Dack Rothwell Armstrong 4-4-2 Leutwiler Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Rothwell Travis Adam Downing Armstrong Graham
  19. I scrolled through 6 pages of it. Had to stop somewhere.
  20. See, this I am starting to find funny. People using Downing and Rodwell leaving as some barometer for how badly the window is going ? Downing left last January, it's old news. Most of us could have taken or left Rodwell, PLUS we have signed Johnson and Downing, who I think are far better than having Rodwell. It's up there with "Smallwood will start against Charlton" or "Smallwood is Mowbrays favourite", when in reality he lost his place months ago and is practically nailed on to leave. What's boring is the complete and total overreaction to everything.
  21. The handling of that was strange. I don't know why Raya was sent for the operation asap if he was going to need it at some point. We weren't fighting relegation or chasing the play offs.
  22. I'm not saying he isn't. I just find it funny people seem so adamant he is this or that, whereas in reality they know jack shit. His age and fact he never played seem to be what people are mostly basing the criticism on. IMO Raya seemed to be improving until he got the kick in the head against WBA.
  23. I liked him when he was here. The only fear I have is either A- Wigan sign him and the pitch forks are out for Mowbray again for "not selling the club to him" or B- We sign him and he ends up playing on the wing...and I get my pitch fork out ?
  24. Phew, those last 5-6 pages were tough reading. Repetition , repetition, repetition. Why do some posters feel he need to give us daily updates on their non-changing view of Mowbray, Waggott and bizarrely the GK coach? Anyways, any word on Gallagher? I suppose if we sign him, he is bad and we have been ripped off, but if Wigan sign him he is a great lad just Mowbray couldn't sell the club to him. Fun times.
  25. That was pathetic. I follow his missus on twitter and I used to watch TNA when she was in it doing the beautiful people stuff. She comes across as very whiny , moany and thinks she is a far bigger star than she is. Very hot though in fairness.
