Value for money is more than just costing less. Marquis is 27, has played most of his career in league 2 and has had 2 great seasons in league 1 and 1 decent one. Gallagher scored 12 goals here in a poor team. Would Marquis score 12 in a season at this level? I didn't think much of him when we played them in league 1. Some of those league 1 defences are awful. Then who would have the greater sell on? I think you would have to say Gallagher.

In fairness, you can can't knock Bruce's record at this level. I think the Wednesday job is the most difficult he has had though. Would probably get them in or around the play offs though. If he goes, I think they are in big trouble. Imagine a few players will be pretty disillusioned. I wonder do they have a chance of appointing Hughton. If he, as you say, would be a good signing. Should everthing else, like him being here before, not be irrelevant? I'm not sure it's accurate to say the margins of profit for defenders is less. It really depends on the player. So I doubt that is the reason. I do acknowledge, for some reason, defence has been pretty neglected over the years.

Funny how some who were critical of us chasing Gallagher "because there must be something wrong if nobody else is interested" are quite today. It sounds like we are in the driving seat insofar as this is where he wants to come. Hopefully sorted today or tomorrow and then we can focus on getting a keeper and centre half! I must say though, Im pretty sure our defence on the first day will be the new keeper, Nyambe or Bennet, Lenihan, Mulgrew or Williams and Bell. We may get someone in, but I don't think Mowbray will put them ahead of Williams or Mulgrew at this stage. Not his MO. Hopefully Williams continues with his centre half displays and Mulgrew ups his game dramatically.

I think we need to take the pressure off Dack to be honest. As @JacknOry says as well, teams know if they stopped him, they stopped us. Credit to him for still reaching as many goals and assists. Having him play back a bit could work, if the team around him offer more. He has had to take too much responsibility on his shoulders the past two seasons. He could then be pushed forward a bit when the opposition aren't prepared, or just arrive late in the box, as he does very well. He would probably need to do more running if he was deeper though and the risk is it negates his goals and the others don't step up. Then we would be screwed.

Hi Cory or is it Jonny? He's good at breaking things up and stands out doing it every now and again. Too few and far between though. Offers nothing in attack apart from raising my hopes last season and the season before at crucial times. Some man to miss chances.
