  1. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/25/leroy-rosenior-leeds-united-fans-shouting-sieg-heil Cracking read, if a bit stomach-churning. The garbage these players had to put up with is beyond belief. Who'd have thought Leeds and Millewall fans would be at the forefront The bigotry still exists, it's just aimed at different people these days. Tony Finnigan though, don't mess with that lad. He probably needed the machete again after scoring that 30 40 50 60 -yard screamer at the turf!
  2. http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-loanee-scott-wharton-12770082 Scott Wharton seems to be doing ok for himself
  3. http://turkish-football.com/tugay-piece-os-string-west-ham-captain-mark-noble/turkish-football.com/tugay-piece-os-string-west-ham-captain-mark-noble/ Always worth reviving a Tugay thread
  4. I'm not one for some of the conspiracy stuff but I don't doubt for 1 minute we were paying ridiculous wages to anyone and everyone signed when the agents were 'sleeping at Brockhall'. It's in their interests to get the best deals possible for the players, and themselves. If there is no oversight from the people putting the money in and the CEO has also gone 'rogue' then there are no safeguards. The club is still paying out historical contracts. The Portuguesers could well be included in those. or they could have had straight pay-offs. Simon Vukevic was one that Shaw admitted to a couple of years ago, saying people would be astounded by how much he was on, or words to that effect. Cheston even mentions the historic contracts in this interview from last summer:- http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14471425._We_need_to_live_within_our_financial_means___Q_A_with_Blackburn_Rovers_director_Mike_Cheston/ No mention of the 'outstanding candidate' to come.
  5. Jordan Slew was on 10k. He cost £1m. It's frightening how much money Kean and Anderson were allowed to waste. The club has paid for it ever since* *Yes, I know it's ultimately Venky's fault.
  6. You could be right but it doesn't seem to read like that:- "if his talent is good enough then don’t be concerned about things to do with money, because that comes. If you’re good enough and talented enough in this world people throw money at you and you get so much you don’t know what to do with it... Hopefully conversations with his advisers will go well with the club and we will wait and see. " I think that's very clearly aimed at Connor and Connor's advisers. Which begs the question are the club taking the proverbial with their offer, or are Connor's advisers?
  7. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/15146414._Hopefully_he_sees_it_here____Tony_Mowbray_on_the_future_of_Blackburn_Rovers_winger_Connor_Mahoney/?ref=mac Interesting comments by TM on Mahoney and money. You'd hope they are aimed at Connor's agent and not at Connor. I suppose it also depends what the contract offer from Rovers was. Not sure if TM should be alluding to this stuff in public though.
  8. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/15149147.___There___s_been_a_big_emphasis_on_that______Charlie_Mulgrew_on_Blackburn_Rovers_becoming_more_organised_under_Tony_Mowbray/?ref=mac " It’s about boxing teams in and having a shape behind the ball when you have it is as important as when you don’t have it. There’s been a big emphasis on that and a lot of the goals earlier in the season were probably from not being in a good shape and I think the manager has sorted that and it’s something we need to continue with". Mulgrew with a pretty damning indictment of Coyle's coaching ability and lack of preparation. It's an absolute disgrace that that charlatan was allowed anywhere near our club, and even worse he was allowed to continue for so long. It makes me *@*$*@*%$@ angry what these clown have done to our club. Some days it just hits you in the gut. At least we now seem to have a proper football man in charge of the team.
  9. Not sure why I care but I do. If you look at the 'dafabet' sign behind his visible right ear then it's red. The one behind his left shoulder looks claret. I presume they are both red. The Sky bet logo is also a different shade depending on the where it is on the walls behind. Could be a light thing and Mowbrays tie could be any dark colour. We may need to call in CSI Blackburn. Or JAL could be right. That dafabet sign really does look claret. They've took over. They're everywhere the B@st@rds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. That's an old Crystal Palace tie from the 60's. It's fine.
  11. Senior is running the football side. Cheston the finances. Never the twain shall meet.
  12. Cheers Parson, I was getting worried there! If he's in the Garner mould then we've got a proper forward on our hands. Beattie must be the last good one we produced.
  13. Parsons ignored me so I'll ask you. What type of player is Butterworth? Is he quick etc? Good post BTW, it's good to hear how the young uns are doing as I don't get to watch them. Keep us updated. Ignore JAL, he's lost the plot.
  14. I'd imagine Lowe will have to take a big pay cut to be offered a new contract. He must be one of the better paid players at the club, and let's be honest he's poor with the ball. As Mowbray's teams try to knock it around I'd be surprised if Lowe was in his thoughts. Then again every manager seems to pick him so what do I know. Mahoney signing would be a real plus. I think he's going to be quality. He beats people for fun. Not many wingers can do that anymore. Mahoney, Lenihan, Tomlinson and Nyambe are the ones we should be looking to keep hold of and develop. The likes of Akpan, Stokes etc are more than replaceable. Guthrie's ok, but we've fallen a long way if his signature is the litmus test of a good summer. I'd say Mulgrew is the only good central midfielder we have. But if Guthrie can stay fit and build his strength then he may be a real asset to Mowbray. Freebies of the quality of Danny Graham are fine. Like you say though it doesn't matter how much they cost if they are good uns' but our standard of signings has gradually got worse over the years. No reason to think that won't continue this summer unless the Venksters turn the money taps on. Can't see it can you? Regardless, Paul Senior will have to earn his money this summer and recruit well. A lot of focus will be on him this summer. As for Mowbray, he's started well. He speaks in a measured way, and doesn't sugar-coat things in the way Coyle did. But then anyone looks good following the hapless Coyle. Mowbrays test will come if he loses a couple and we slip back in the relegation places.
  15. It's going to be a big ask. They've set the bar very high over the years. What do you predict will happen? I'm guessing a few free transfers incoming and the sale of our better players. That seems to be the template.
  16. They spelt genital wrong. The original headline was 'TM says Big Barry talks a load of old b o l l o c k s'
  17. Do you know much about Butterworth, why he left Man U etc? He sounds like a real prospect. Is he quick. skilful etc?
  18. Course it's proven! Unless I've missed the myriad of medals & achievements that have confirmed Lambo's greatness?
  19. In your opinion. Plenty on here also said that Lambert was a 'great manager' and we were lucky to have him. That has proved to be nonsense. As it was when it was said.
  20. A 'decent' squad and 8th and 9th place finish sounds pretty good. Glad you've finally seen the light.
