  1. Is that the definite figure? I thought more would have been sold by this time today, possible more will be sold by this time tomorrow. Although I know a lot of Rovers fans wanting to buy tickets on Wednesday morning. By the way Leeds took 4k to Burnley on Saturday.
  2. Depends which train station you decide to arrive at. Burnley Central Station is about a 20 minute walk and Burnley Manchester Road is around 10/15 minutes.
  3. Rovers 0 - 1 Norwich I've just got a bad feeling about this one. Our lack of goals could really cost us in this one, a scrappy game. Attendance: 20,253
  4. I phoned up just before nine this morning and was 41st in the queue. I rung back an hour later and was 15th and got two tickets fairly quickly. Last I heard was that we've sold around 1000 at 2pm. Can't wait.
  5. I hate having to rely on other teams. It's up to us whether we stay in this league or not. We have the ability to stay in the league but we can't score, so we won't win. Southampton have proved they can score, they just keep letting late winners in quite often. Everton did a favour for us in equalising at the end.
  6. Agree with you there. Neill was at fault for the goal on Wednesday against Chelsea and yesterday at Boro. He wasn't even anywhere near Robeen when he was on the ball and Todd had to deal with it and was beaten. Yesterday the ball was whipped in to the box and missed everyone. Neill had time to take a touch and get it out, he headed it and cocked it up badly giving it straight to Downing, who passed it on to Quedrue. It's time for Neill to be dropped and Matteo who was just as bad yesterday. Neither of them can defend or pass.
  7. Who cares? I couldn't care less if we or they sold out their allocations or not? Both games were televised and it's up to supporters from both clubs whether they'll turn up for the game. It'll be like that on the FA Cup game. We won't sell out, I'm fairly sure of that. It's on BBC, some people may not want to go and take their kids because they might fear that there will be trouble before and after the game.
  8. That was one of the worst performances I've seen from Rovers all season. Nearly everything about us was bad. Matteo couldn't do anything right for a start. When he got the ball he gave it away, Neill was more a less the same yet again and was at fault for Boro's goal. Boro were all over us in the first half and could have scored more than one. Rovers never really got going until late on and even so we didn't create many chances, only Dickov coming close with a header tipped over the bar. We are really in need of a striker, although we keep knocking the ball up to Dickov against defenders who are twice the size of him, where's the logic in that? Clear penalty, but Mike Riley was the ref. We were poor and Boro played better than us in a scrappy game, they deserved the three points. Middlesbrough 1-0 Blackburn I was worried up till the Bolton game at The Reebok with the concern of going down, now it's come back in my thoughts. Next week's a must-win game, nothing less.
  9. Cheers for that. I don't blame people for being un-happy if that was to happen. Fair is fair and I'll be buying my set of tickets first thing on Monday morning. I still don't think we'll sell out though.
  10. Mourinho's entitled to his opinion. Chelsea are a top side there's no doubt about it. But does Mourinho really expect to win the Premiership if you can't fight for the odd three points? It's what football's all about. At times when we won the league in 95 we never won every game by playing great football, there are times that you've got to battle and prepared to do that. Chelsea in my opinion didn't look as strong when Robeen was taken off. It'll be interesting to see how Chelsea cope without him but it seems they've got more than enough points ahead of the rest to win the league.
  11. Well said. We were never going to match Chelsea for skill. I think with the players in our team we are now much more of a physical team than we once were. But I don't think we're a dirty team. We can still get the ball down and play some decent football. Savage does make his fair share of bad tackles but who doesn't? Notice how the Chelsea fans never mentioned the elbows that some of their players left out and Makelele's push on MGP.
  12. I'm still un-certain on what the ticket details actually are. From what I've read on the website it says that you can buy four tickets per person. I have five away stubs as with my mate and two others both have one. So either me and my mate who both have five stubs could buy four tickets on either of our season tickets?
  13. I didn't expect to get anything at all from the game last night. Thank God the team didn't have the same feeling as I did. Chelsea are a class team on their day, there's no doubt about it. Their goal proves it, we lost possession and it only took them three passes if that to get it to Robeen who scored a good goal. People are blaming Friedel, I'd like to see it again before commenting on it. The penalty incident. I haven't had chance to see any of the highlights so I don't know whether it was or it wasn't. However I was appealing for it when the incident occured. Dickov rushed his penalty I thought, he could have been a little more composed perhaps. Great save for Cech. That was the turning point in the game, from then on I knew we weren't going to get anything. Lucas Neill, I do really wonder at times how he became a professional footballer never mind getting a place in the team every week. He's just been awful this season. Even though we lost, I came away from the game having belief in the team that there's players now in the side who are willing to give everything to for the club. Blackburn 0-1 Chelsea
  14. Didn't get chance to watch the game but watched the highlights. Best set of highlights I've watched in a while, game must have been brilliant to watch. Arsenal started well, but once again United showed their determination and fight to come back and win. How many times have United done that over the last ten years or so? Arsenal started of well, great lay off from Rooney for Giggs's goal. Ronaldo played well again, great finish. Arsenal have had a poor season in my opinion, especially letting United beat them in the way they did. Once United got the equaliser the whole ground seemed to sense that United were going to win. The Arsenal players stopped and never showed the fight to play on unlike United. Highbury tunnel players in clear
  15. I voted yes. There's no point in keeping a player like Ferguson, if he's 'homesick' and wants to go. He put a transfer request in and from then on I feel there's no point in keeping him. I'm really dissapointed in Ferguson, not because he hasn't played well for us and has shown why Souness paid a lot of money for him , but Ferguson's attitude to the last month. I haven't heard him once come out publically and explain his reasons. The club stuck by him when he was injured, probably the best medical care around to get him back a.s.a.p. And Mr. Ferguson decides to go back to Rangers. Well, if you're reading enjoy the big games, there's only four. The Scottish fans make out that Ferguson's a huge talent. He isn't, he hasn't proved that in the English Premier League, but I'm sure he will in the SPL. Ferguson clinches Rangers return
  16. And that's what most people in the English Premier League who have seen Ferguson play in this league as, especially Rovers fans. Majorly dissapointed with Ferguson but I'm glad he's gone. He doesn't want to stick around and prove the critics that he'll get that he couldn't make it in English football.
  17. Well said Ricky. It's not over yet the deadline, the club should be doing everything they can if they want the club to have a relegation-free worry come May. This is the latest link I've found on Ferguson. Ferguson set for Rangers return
  18. Reporter on Sky Sports News from Glasgow said that if Celtic are to clinch a deal with Newcastle over Bellamy then Rangers are set to push their bid higher for Ferguson to determine who will win the SPL. Come on Celtic.
  19. Tickets should be offered for so long to season ticket holders who have been to away games in the league and in the FA Cup this season. Fair's fair. I'll be extremely annoyed if there's a cock-up with the tickets and I don't get one. Does anybody have any idea when they go on sale?
  20. I'm not quite sure yet if I like Kasabian are not. They have done a few good songs that I can listen to quite often, but I don't like the rest of them. I prefer The Killers over Kasabian by a mile. Rovers play one of their songs to some footage of play on the big screen called, "All the things that I've done."
  21. Saturday sees Rovers travel up to the Riverside. Form guide: Boro – LWLWDD Rovers – DWLWWL I’m not sure how this game will go. We all have fond memories of last year’s game at the Riverside. The debut of Jon Stead, who scored the winner seems a long time ago and let’s pray and hope that Stead can score at the Riverside and begin to show what he can do for us again. Our confidence may not be at it’s best come Saturday, depending on the result on Wednesday evening after the Chelsea game. But based on recent performances in the league, I’m being hopeful in predicting a 2-2 draw. Here's some questions and answers from a mate of mine, Marc. What were the supporters expectations of Boro for this season? I expected nothing more than a top ten finish for us this season. The players that have been brought in to the side have settled extremely quickly and gelled together. Steve McClaren has done a great job at Boro, making some excellent signings for good prices in the summer, which of the summer signings has impressed you the most? Ray Parlour has been brilliant for us. A much better player than I gave him credit for when he was with Arsenal. There's nothing fancy about him but gets everywhere and is always there biting at the opposition, tackling, intercepting and he has a cracking shot on him - he is going to whack one home eventually. He was our least glamorous summer signing and people were dubious about him but he's a firm favourite on Teesside now and as the chant goes: "ONE CHARLIE DIMMOCK, THERE'S ONLY ONE CHARLIE DIMMOCK". When he has played(which hasn't been often) Mark Viduka has been superb, he brings the best out of Hasselbaink and as a pairing they are dynamite. How do you feel Mr Souness is doing at Newcastle and are you the top club in the North East now? Mr Souness, in Teesside eyes, is doing a fantastic job at Newcastle and long may it continue! Yes we are the top club in the north-east. Middlesbrough's first choice xi is a better TEAM than Newcastle's. That's the key for us, it's a happy camp and we've a team of honest battlers but with a bit of flair chucked in as well. It's a great mix. There are several players that have come through Middlesbrough’s successful youth system so far, are there anymore to make the step up to the first team? In addition to Stuart Parnaby, Andrew Davies, Stewart Downing, Tony McMahon, James Morrison and Danny Graham the next couple to come through, I reckon, will be central defenders Matthew Bates and David Wheater - they've been a formiddable defensive barrier for our youth cup winning side over the last couple of years and they should break through over the next couple of seasons. Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull is also highly thought of and has already had a call-up to the England under-21 squad, currently on loan at Barnsley. Downing has impressed many so far this season and looks to have a great future. When do you think he’ll be eventually picked for the full England squad? I think it's more or less accepted that he's going to be in the next England party for the Holland game, he should have been in for the Spain game at the Bernebeu. Middlesbrough are in a similar situation to what we were two years ago. We had Duff, like Downing a good left winger and couldn’t say no to big money for the player. Do you fear the same will happen with Downing? Long-term - yes. Downing has got everything and it's inevitable that the big clubs will come sniffing around. We will never, realistically, be in a position to offer him regular champions league football and the more the likes of Man Utd are linked with him - the more he'll become attracted to the thought of playing on the biggest club stage. In the meantime though we're not a club that urgently needs to cash in on our players and it would take some bid to even tempt us to sell him. He is our best player and there would be a riot if he was allowed to leave in the near future. In the Rovers team, does anyone you think look to cause Boro many problems? Paul Dickov always seems to be a nuiscence. He scored against us twice for Leicester last year and he'll keep our shaky defence on their toes. Apart from him the only worry for me would be Savage and whoever his partner is in midfield(Ferguson, Thompson, Tugay or whoever) getting ontop of our midfield which will be minus George Boateng - for me our most influential player besides Downing. What kind of team do you think McClaren will put out on Saturday? We're hoping to have Bobo Balde and Geremi signed in time but going by what we've got currently available I would hazard a guess at: Schwarzer, Reiziger, Queudrue, Southgate, Cooper, Parlour, Zenden, Morrison, Downing, Hasselbaink, Job. What are your impressions of Blackburn this season? Woefull against us at Ewood(i'm sure you don't need reminding of that!) but Hughesy seems to be slowly steadying the ship. On paper Blackburn look a handy side especially as that defence seems to have been strengthened however I look at Blackburn's pool of strikers and nobody genuinely puts the frighteners on me. I think Rovers will stay up fairly comfortably. Your prediction for the game? It's always a tight, scrappy game between Boro and Rovers at the Riverside with a single goal usually winning it. This is a game we must win though and despite our recent slump in form, our results(if not performances) at home are still impressive - the only sides I fear at the Riverside are the top 3. Outside of them I fancy us to beat anybody at the Riverside and I think we'll take it 2-1. All the best, if you're coming up for the game enjoy it and I just hope it's not a similar game to last season which was quite possibly one of the worst games of football I have ever witnessed. Marc Up The Boro Cheers to Marc for answering my questions.
  22. I'm not too bothered who we get just as long as we avoid Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United. Anyone at home and on a day we can give anyone a decent game. Draw's on BBC 2, half 1 tomorrow afternoon.
  23. Would anyone here select Ferguson for the Chelsea game on Wednesday? Or consider him for the squad on Wednesday? I'm not entirely sure on him now. He's still a Rovers player and all be it I don't like what he's done in putting his transfer requst in, he's still a Rovers player. If he plays I wonder what the reaction of the crowd will be like. The obvious thing is to boo, I won't. He's still a Rovers player, if the Rovers fans boo him then he's not going to want to play. From Hughes's interviews it sounds as if Ferguson still has some of a part to play for the team. We'll wait and see.
  24. Top post. Agree with everything you've said there Paul. I'm not going to blame people for not going to extra games to watch Rovers anymore. The club have to expect that they're not going to get the season ticket holders at every game at extra games, never mind the supporters who wish to turn up on the spur of the moment at Ewood anymore unless we begin to show improvement in the league. I managed to persuade a friend of mine to go to the game on Bolton, expecting that it'd be a decent game. He phoned me up the next day and told me it was a waste of money and said he'd never come again this season. I found most of the game being boring if I'm being completely honest. A few of us did our best to raise the atmosphere in the ground. But the general ambiance of the place, looked dull. I'll go because like others I love Blackburn Rovers. I don't know what I'd do without them, it's bad enough when we don't play between May and August, apart from pre-seasons. I just pray and hope that it can only get better.
  25. This was mentioned by yourself in another thread. I predicted a dreary 13,000, and we didn't even get that. I was dissapointed at the attendance but not surprised. It's Colchester after all, nothing against Colchester, but it's hardly going to bring everyone out. Tickets were priced quite reasonably I thought, but we aren't going to get more fans to these type of cup games unless we start performing a lot better in the league.
