  1. Great news. Thought he was excellent at the end of last season. Watching the 'strikers' take shooting practice before each game he was a class above everyone else. Much needed. Welcome (back) to Ewood Danny!
  2. Just before my time at Rovers, I started watching a couple of years later, however, what he achieved for this club can never be erased and for that I'll always be grateful, but for that I'd have started watching Rovers in Div 3 and not Div 2. A great ambassador for football and by all accounts a bloody good bloke. Great to see some TV footage on ITV last night of him taking training with the old Riverside Stand in the background, albeit only for a few seconds. RIP Howard.
  3. I thought it was "messin' around"? Still think it could work really well though, as long as we give it "Da da da da da daaaa" for the trumpet bit.
  4. As Peter Jones said when asked "What's the fastest way to become a millionaire?" "Buy a football club when you're a billionaire" So true!
  5. Don't know if this was in response to my post on Pg1 or not but yeah, I like that.
  6. My personal favourite at the moment, really made me laugh when I first heard it. Can't recall the Scott Dann one though unless is the same but "He can't f*ckin head". Think we missed a trick with JR though, not using Country Roads, something along the lines of: Jordan Rhodes, takes us home To the place, where we belong Premier League, for Jack Walker Take us home, Jordan Rhodes I always liked the Damien Duff "All you need is Duff, da da da da da" Think we need to get a bit more creative. I think the loss of terracing is largely responsible for that, as in the 'olden days' it was always the same groups, stood in the same place in the BBE who used to get things going, ably assisted by a few shandies before the game! Things were more spontaneous. I rember John Fashanu coming to Ewood shortly after Justin came out of the closet to a rapturous chorus of "Does your brother s%^g your ar$e". Not very PC and in keeping with all the respect campaigns etc, but spontaneous & (at the time) very funny. I think we should use this section for a few ideas (keeping them a bit cleaner & PC than the example above though obviously). If he keeps up the performances of the last 2 games, I think Josh King would probably be deserving of one. Haven't got a clue what at the moment though. Anyone?
  7. That was the main one for me - that would've made it 4-0 iirc so they most likely wouldn't have pulled their goal back. It was the miss which gave them a lift. 2nd leg is without doubt my worst ever moment following Rovers. (footballing wise)
  8. I think I might have to! Even given the amount of dross she's had to watch, she's hooked. Reminds me of myself at her age. Only problem is her dancing classes usually clash on a saturday - I'll have a word with her dance teacher & see if she'll change em!
  9. As most have said on here, last night's performance was the best this season by a country mile. Maybe not for the quality of football on show, but certainly for the effort put in by all, and for once I mean 'all'. My main highlights from last night are: Todd Kane - Outstsanding, ran Williamson very close for MOM, never shirked, despite harsh early booking & full of running. Please put a cheeky bid in with Chelski for this guy, hopefully they might not realise what a gem they have with all the foreign stars there. If not, definetly try for season long loan. Lee Williamson - the fact he pipped Kane to MOM says everything. Was the subject of some pretty rough treatment at times & got on with it. Excellent. Scott Dann - finally came of age last night if you ask me. I don't know if it was playing alongside Givet, but he was superb. Gael Givet - Looked rusty for 15-20 (understandably) but got in his stride and was the warrior we know & love. Rhodes - Looked much more comfortable playing with King & Best as he had someone to knock the ball down to & lay off to. Was his usually boring self & just had to put the ball in the net!. Ran himself to the ground! Best - looked sharper than last couple of games, much improved effort. Long lay-off so will still reserve judgement. Brought a good save from their keeper in 2nd half. King - Terrifies defenders when he runs at them, Hudders doubled & sometimes trebled men on him. Just needs to learn how to distribute it better. Goodwillie - Never thought I'd ever write this, but looked really sharp when he came on. Distribution excellent, harassing defenders, efforts at goal.... I'd consider giving him a start at Watford on that showing All in all, left Ewood happy. Moreso with the performance than the result but the 3pts was the most important. My little-un is still 'unbeaten' in her first season (4 Wins & a draw), 100% JR scoring record & came out with the comment of the night walking up Livesey Branch - "Daddy, why didn't we sing the Burnley B**stards song tonight?" After pissing myself laughing I just said "Don't let your mum hear you say that!" (There's no way she's saying 'Burnley' in my house!)
  10. Could you really see Di Canio lasting more than half an hour in the presence of Shebby & Shagnew? He'd have thrown a proper Itallian strop, smacked one of them in the mouth and stormed off. Now there's something on Sky pay-per-view I would pay for! Anyway, back to tonight. Last home game this season I'll get chance to see, fairly hopeful of the 3 pts provided we go with Givet. I know he's 'highly rated' at City (football speak for "will somebody pay his wages for a few months please") but I don't have confidence in Rekik to put his boots on the right feet after his previous showings, never mind be a tower of strength in the heart of defence! Taking my daughter again who's been 'unbeaten' this season - 3 wins & a draw - so hopefully her good form will continue, although she's not happy that Jake Kean won't be playing (think she's a soft spot there, even though she's only 7). JR has scored in all 4 of those games so I'll go for 3-1 Rovers with a Rhodes brace and Best to break his duck. COYB
  11. RIP Kelbo. Always one whose posts I enjoyed reading. As others have said, you know so little about people on here who you are in daily communication with, and having read that he was the same age as my own father it puts a lot of things into perspective. My thoughts are with Ben & the rest of the family.
  12. Rest in Peace Emma. A tragic loss at such a young age.
  13. Great pro, did a lot of good hold up play for SG. Very sad news and at 52 no age at all. RIP Chris
  14. Hi there. I'm new to the forum. Been a rovers fan for around 28 years since I first went with my Dad in '83. Looking forward to having a bit of banter with you guys.
