Hmmm... been thinking about this and as we look like we are going to get no strikers, Dickov could be injured and Ferguson seems to be off I would suggest this team. I think that is roughly the football equivalent of a brick wall. I think, barring transfer developments, this is what Hughes will go for too (Well, swap Matteo for Johansson and Nelsen for Niell- but same idea) -
That is absolutely disgraceful- you canno only allow one type of CC can you? Isnt that a monopoly?

Believe all you want Rev (and you can keep Revving up all the way to the end of the transfer window ) but to keep Ferguson we really have to be sure that he would be giving his all for the cause and trust in his professionalism. A month ago I'd have had no doubt about him giving his all for the team but his conduct over the last three week in despereately trying to engineer a move home DESPITE the team not being safe means I'm not sure that he will be providing his services to an acceptable level if he stays. The worrying thing is that none of us knows just how he would behave because in the career of Barry Ferguson there is no precedent for the current situation. That's why I would take the money if it is near the valuation. Besides even if he was gloriously happy here a quality forward would still be worth more to Rovers than Ferguson if it was a straight choice and I'm sure we all must agree after the desperate mix-and-match of Monday night strikers. How many weeks to the end of the season? I think it is around 14. 14x c.30k = c. 420k In the scheme of things, if we are not getting in another player, it is worth paying to have him If Rangers cannot come up with the six million. -
Could they not show all three? The deal has been three BBC matches and one Sky per round. In terms of national derbies in the modern era Burnley versus Blackburn is one of the more low profile ones- but if they showed Oldham Bolton I cannot see how they would justify not showing this one. To all Roverites in Edinburgh/Lothian (McClarky etc.) any chance of anyone sorting out a poor student with a lift (obviously I would help pay for petrol etc). I really want to see this game! ps. Just realised I do not have a rats chance in hell of getting a ticket. ######.

But it wont be if he stays. We will then get who will be club captain, what should we do with him, should we play him, has he the right attitdue, will he go in the summer etc.............................. What I mean is he will know he has to stay till the summer and in order to maintain interest in himself he will want to play. Utterly agree that he should lose the armband. We seem to be loking at a bad day- Ferguson will probably leave, Bellamy to Celtic, Carew staying, no direct replacement for the midfield. Only one that sounds positive is Sokota. Pull something out of the bag Hughesy..... -

Well it will be over one way or the other by the end of today. One good thing from having a transfer window I suppose. -

Tashor, great post. We are not going to be able to survive in the Prem unless our supporters turn up. They are not essentially because we do not win every week. I cannot understand that mentality because only a couple of clubs can win every week and they have a shed load of cash. ###### to the lacking a "hero". Who in the bottom half of the Prem does? You want a world class player, someone local and committed? they will have a decebt ciuple of seasons then Chelsea, Man Utd or Arsenal will buy them- Duff, Rooney, Parker are all good examples of this. Alan I am not sure how you think these things can be achieved, or what other teams you are looking at saying "crikey, they are the kind of club which do not over charge for tickets, stocked by local heroes and play cracking attractive football. Why, Rovers pale miserably in comparison". Indeed Rovers are subsidised as Tashor says and have the cheapest season tickets in the league. I cannot see anywhere you get as much talent for the price of the tickets. Simple answer is we are screwed in the long run- when the Walker money runs out we will drop out of top flight football. We should enjoy it at the moment, these are the good times. -
He'll only join a championship team if he wants to. They could let him rot, but that's gonna cost Newcastle a fortune to do that. There's no real difference between our situation and Newcastles. We would loan out Amo, De Pedro etc if anyone would take them. There is no desire for Rovers to pay their wages for sitting in the reserves.
-
Does anybody know whether the money for Bellamy is dependent upon the sale of Ferguson. I cannot see how we could afford it any other way unless we are counting our chickens on the Dahlin compensation. A side of: Is full of quality and I would be quite excited to see it in action
-
Player Power! As we keep getting told the players hold all the cards. If he doesn't want to go, newcastle can hold on to him or loan him out! Um, Ferguson would be a good example of a club forcing their way.
-
The quote is just from a supporter site and looks like speculation. No way we can afford him unless Ferguson goes which looks unlikely from what Hughes said on Rovers World. Bellamy on loan would be a coup but I cannot see Newcastle allowing that when they have a cash offer on the table.

But Abbey you must realise we cannot let that kind of investment rot in the reserves. We do not have the cash to justify it. The only alternative is to phone up Rangers and tell them we will take the 4 million after all. Its a shoddy situation but we are not in a position to mess about. -

I hate to say it but Hughes has to be very careful with this. As he on our books we need him to play, we cannot have him sitting around for the next six months. Despite what Jan says he is a good player and will be far more effective than Thompson or Flitcroft. If the LET article is accurate what he has done is disgusting, but what can we do? Phone up Rangers and tell them we will take the four million after all? No way... -

If fit I think Ferguson has to play, albeit stripped of the captaincy. As he is staying the sooner the crowd and himself settle down for the rest of the season the better. 3-0 Rovers -

For what its worth: Unless we manage to get a quality striker in I cannot see how we can hurt Chelsea at all. The midfield is going to have to stay deep and work hard to just prevent Chelsea tearing us apart (nullifying any chance of midfield goals) and I cannot see Gallagher or Dicov getting the better of their mean mean defence. Set peices are going to produce the best chances for us, but we must be one of the worst sides at setpieces in the league........ 0-2 Chelsea (Duff, Lampard) -

I disagree. We have a very good midfield and decent defence IMHO but no decent strikers which is a shame. Someone mentioned recently that we have the poorest forwards in the league, and I do not think thats far wrong. We have a nasty habit of far exceeding our opponents chances on goal but putting nothing away. Still, our all round side at the moment is certainly better than last years effort. If only Andy Cole was here, we could use that kind of ability to hold up the ball. Lets see what Hughes comes up with on loan. As for Ferguson, I hope he assumes the attitude of just getting on with it and performing to earn him a good move in the summer. Playing poorly or throwing his toys out of the pram will do him no good at all. A Savage-Ferguson partnership promises alot. It is a ridiculous position to be in, a fine midfield and desperately bad strikers- but that is what we have. Oh, Savage at the club could allow Ferguson to get forward in the way that so excited him at the start of the season. -

Hmmm... looks like Phillipl could have been right. Will the fans be able to forgive Barry? Unless Everton or Newcastle come in it looks like he could be lining up against Colchester.... -

We would of had much better distribution of the ball, although I agree it would be a bit much to call him a match winner. -
For what it is worth I thought we played okay. Allerdyce did his homework and knew we had better players than him so he packed the midfield and soaked up the pressure, hoping he could hurt us on the break. It worked, through some shameful cheating, and they won. We had most of the posession but lacked quality in the final third. None of our strikers could hold up the ball so we found it difficult to create openings. Expect to see the Ferguson money be used to bring in a Forward. It is not all doom and gloom. We looked the better side against a decent team, we have won a few gamess recently and have quite a few good players on our books. Some difficult games coming up, it will really test the mettle of our side.

Nonsense, we have quality players. Emerton, Reid, Pedersen, Savage Thompson, Dickov, Gallagher, Todd, Niell and Friedel are all good players for a mid table team. We cannot win every game FFS. I cannot see how Mokeona and Flitcroft are much worse than the players available to other teams in our position either. Can we inject some realism please. If Ferguson goes it will be a loss but we should get a decent price and the addition of a quality striker could see us improve dramatiacally. ps. Are you suggesting that Rangers have a sell on clause? I do not think they do. The money that we still owe will be budgeted for so no matter where Barry goes the money will be available for transfers. -

At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious, how about a winning team playing attractive football ? We were doing that a few seasons ago until the manager got rid of all the best players. I say this hesitatingly because I cannot attend regularly due to not being able to get down from edinburgh, but if we need to play good football to get decent crowds we are screwed. We cannot sustain a Premiership club on the attendence we get, and except for a few purple patches it is unlikely we will always play good football. We will eventually be replaced by the likes of Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds, Forest, Ipswich, West Ham, Liecester, Sunderland who can attract the fans even when playing dire football. It all comes down to catchment areas. Wecannot complain about prices because we are the cheapest in the Premiership (for season tickets, anyway). If people want them lower we will need to drop down a league. It is just the raw economics of it. -
I would watch want you put down on this board, I would hazrad most of us do not want that kind of bile on here. It does not impress anybody and could land you in hotwater with the police. As for Diouf, surely he must get a ban?

....because he has played his last game for the club. He will be back at Ibrox by Friday, if not before. Insider infomation Jim, or a gut feeling? Will they pay 6 million? If they do I would think Hughes will be happy as Larry... -
No Ferguson. Bothroyd, Gallagher up front. Niell keeps his place, Neksen not even on the bench. Friedel, Niell, Matteo, Mokeona, Todd, Emerton, Pedersen, Savage, Thompson, Gallagher, Bothroyd
