  1. But if United paid £100 million for Pogba...............
  2. For all to discuss. Whilst Dack, Graham and Mulgrew invariably attract most attention, is Elliot Bennett not an unsung hero? He'd be my nomination for player of the year.
  3. Tonight's the night, It'll be alright Coz we love the Blues Ain't nobody gonna stop us now! (Rod Stewart). Where's mi coat!
  4. I'm delighted for Accy Stanley, it has been a fantastic achievement for them. If TM and all at Rovers ever needed a wake up call about what can be achieved on minuscule resources, Stanley in League 1 next year should wake all and sundry up. Well done Accy and COYB!!!
  5. They're all decidedly better than 'Barmy Army' and 'There's an ale house...'. I'm loving the new songs this season particularly away. The young 'uns need to get Ewood rocking!
  6. Bump. Just to keep the thread in the forefront of our minds, we've only lost once in 25 games since it's conception. 9 to go.....
  7. Don't apologise Pedro, you could apply the same to both: neither are good enough. Antonsson wasn't good enough at Leeds as a forward so he finds himself at Ewood, tried as a winger and he ain't good enough there either and needs binning off. No argument for me. Samuel for me has plenty of potential physically but lacks plenty elsewhere, particularly above the shoulders. I would guess, unless someone can get inside his head and channel it in the right direction, then he needs binning off too. I can't get my head around trying to sign players and then try to shoehorn them in somewhere else. If we want a centre half (yes please) then fecking sign one.
  8. You miss the point Shaun, plus ca change, and as you say "same as it ever was".
  9. £4 for the season 1974/75, what was the average weekly wage 'up North' then? What was it as a percentage of the average weekly wage of 18-24 year olds? I cannot honestly believe that anybody could have any issues whatsoever in supporting serious concessions for this particular age group. More so for those that have had season tickets for many years courtesy of their parents. That's my season ticket btw. Scan 8.pdf
  10. I have strong opinions on this point and think that we lose countless fans because as a club we do nothing to consider the 18-24 age bracket. I'd ask all those now that pay for their kids season tickets, what will you do (and what will they do) when they come of age at 18 and are faced with paying £350ish for an adult season ticket?
  11. I wonder what all their balance sheets show and how the influx of cash has been accounted for? It'd be worth the exercise to those that know to draw any parallels to our own indebtedness.
  12. ....and you're still in the habit of doing so.
  13. I agree with your points 1-3 but 4 I strongly disagree with. With regards to 2. 'the product' that was has been devalued immensely during the course of the past seven and a half years but that's not the 'debate' as I see it. As regards 'little Johnny', I don't think it matters one iota where he/she lives, the fact is that they disappear from the scene and our supporter base diminishes further. We have a stadium with a capacity of 31,500 which even in our pomp has only been to capacity twice, correct me if I'm wrong. We live in a town with challenging demographics and I have seen this issue for many years when kids reach the age of consent. Any financial incentive to keep hold of any young supporters when they are at a vulnerable age and rightly expected to stand on their own 2 feet financially, should be wholeheartedly endorsed by all, irrespective of their background. I fully endorse the initiatives of both Shrewsbury and Nottingham Forest. They're both clearly forward thinking clubs and have addressed something that they recognise as being an issue as do I and have done for years.
  14. Parents pay for children's tickets Rev and they are good value. 18-24 year olds you would guess have to fork out the brass themselves and most stop going as a consequence because the cost is prohibitive or they've gone away to University. At £100 a season, you would probably keep them 'hooked' until such times as affording a full price ticket wasn't an issue. I would even consider offering free season tickets to 18-24 year olds who had a season ticket for a 5-10 year period prior in order to keep the habit going. From my personal perspective, I'm certain we'd have 2 more full paying season ticket holders now had something similar been in place a dozen years ago.
  15. I think it's a wise move too. Up until 18, invariably the season tickets are paid for by parents. £350/£400 is a big commitment when you're expected to stand on your own 2 feet financially for the first time. Many don't take the plunge and stop going, other than for an odd match and get out of the habit as a result. I'm speaking from my experiences with my 2 lads, who are Rovers through and through still but very rarely go to games.
  16. I take that as a you don't know then? You're a 'Rover' JAL, things are far from perfect, stop beating yourself up and just try to enjoy being a Rover again.
  17. JAL, we're in the third tier. With your 'experience' and Nuttall's 'raw ability', what would you do to make him a 'good 'un'? You need to get over yourself, be grateful for what Jack did for us and get bloody real. We are where we are but I'm enjoying being a Rover again. What would it realistically take for you to feel likewise?
  18. I think Tugay was north of 30 when he signed for us. I also agree we've been spoilt rotten, was having just that same conversation yesterday in the barbers. It was all fundamentally down to Jack's desire and generosity and for that I'm eternally grateful. We've lived the dream that's for sure, just a shame that the legacy has been squandered as it has. Anyway, back to Mulgrew; without doubt he could become a Rovers legend, here's hoping.
  19. Yet. Sign a couple of decent defenders in the summer and Sir Charles could yet step forward to play alongside a combative midfielder. He needs to practice coming to the Riverside touchline on 75 minutes before taking 5 minutes to trudge towards the JW stand, waving to all quarters of the stadium, as he was subbed. Great player, great memories Biz.
  20. With the exception of Mulgrew, I agree with the other 3 and would add Graham to the list. I also suspect Mowbray didn't want Lowe either, which is why he was allowed to leave and thankfully the rumours of his return in January proved false. I believe Mulgrew and his family are happily settled in Wrea Green and his kids are at Arnold School. He may be one that thinks there's more to life than chasing the dollar. He has certainly buckled down and fought the cause so far this season and in the fullness of time, could be seen as an Ewood legend, just as Tugay is.
  21. I agree with all that you've said and much preferred the game as it was played in England 10 or 15 years ago. The authorities need to get to grips with the laws of the game first and foremost. What's a foul? What's handball? For me for the former it's not just about 'contact' and the latter it's deliberately trying to gain an advantage. Many offences penalised these days don't fall into either category in my view.
  22. Yes, dooh, you're right looking at the opening clip. I've always thought it's a great formation to play if you've got the right players but disastrous if you don't.
  23. I'm not saying you're wrong chaddy but how you work the formation out as playing 3 at the back from that 25 second clip, I'm f****d if I know.
