Fatigue with Buckley. He's gone from not playing at all to a sudden burst of games recently. I think Forshaw was champing at the bit yesterday and they will need some rotation for the big push

I heard Forshaw might be replacing Buckley. Presumably injured?

I'm at the game, sitting near a very tired looking John Eustace. Dennis is quite flashy and very greedy. Ribiero reminds me strongly of Pickering (sadly not Fred) and Woodrow is playing centrally but a little deeper than Dennis and is tidy, if unspectacular. Pick of the bunch so far is Montgomery in midfield who looks a nice player.

I think Weimann might get the nod as centre forward tomorrow. He looks to be our most instinctive finisher. Big opportunity for Buckley tomorrow...

I was really impressed with Weimann's movement around the six yard box today together with his poachers instinct for both goals. He seems to me to be the only player we have with that ability. I looked at his career stats and it seems he is no stranger to what we call the number 9 role. He looks lost to me when out wide. He has a good, strong physique and I would like to see him in the 9 role in a central position working within the narrow confines of the 18 yard box in the style of the older Shearer under Bobby Robson. I think we could get goals from him and, crucially, more than 60 minutes a game.

We have won our home games, that's true. However I believe that our results by and large have flattered to deceive. Let's not forget two awful performances prior to the international break with largely the same lads on the pitch. My opinion is that we are sleepwalking towards a really bad run if we continue this 7 man defence . I believe we can keep it tight but be a little more creative. Hence my inclusion of Buckley over Travis. I don't think Buckley is great by any means but he potentially offers something that the current two can't. On your second point; I'm sure you were being light hearted and not trying to demonstrate that an argument is worthless if it contains a mistake (Andy instead of Adam) but the surname is Wharton, not Warton.

My main concern is that we are sitting so deep with our two midfielders that we are inviting pressure on our back line which will be easily exploited by decent teams. In turn we aren't creating enough threat and aren't testing the opposition keeper. With all this in mind, I would like to see us get at our opponents, and would play: Toth JRC. I dread to think what the scoreline would have been with Pickering playing. Their right winger was a confident lad but Beck absolutely out played him.

At what point does he have a look at Buckley, who has looked fairly dominant in cup and youth games this season. Whilst the two defensive midfielders are useful in protecting our defence, they offer nothing creatively. I think Buckley as a sub at PNE last week might have kick started an attacking threat. Our predicted line up tomorrow will help us at the back but how cautious do we need to be offensively?

I went to this game. A night match as I recall. I was aged nine. My dad barracked Nobby Stiles several times for some reason. That's all I can remember.

Just got back from this. Very little to write home about. No standout performers on the night and absolutely no sign of the next big thing unfortunately.

Reminds me of Glen Hoddle in this respect. The difference being that Hoddle, unlike Rooney was actually a magnificent coach but his man management was poor and he gave his players plenty of sharp reminders that he was technically a superior player to them (which he generally was to be fair)

I would snap their hand off for a draw. A couple of shrewd signings and I think we could be competitive in this league, but a draw definitely signifies that we could be heading in the right direction as a club.

Fantastic stuff. Funny to see Rush and Molby still around when they are associated with a different era than the premier league. Watching this makes me realise how much the passion, drive, excitement and aggression of those times has been replaced by the sterile, chess-like, strategic and frankly boring approach to today's game. Another world entirely.

Good to see Buckley laying down a marker for a starting place. Weak opposition but he has controlled the game and is my man of the match. On his day he can offer a more Whartonesque style than Travis or Trondstadt.

I must say I'm not missing Hedges or Dolan from this team, weak opposition notwithstanding. Siggy and Weimann have it all to play for...
