To me on saturday we played Travis Johnson Rothwell Brereton Holtby Armstrong With holtby dropping deeper and Rothwell floating when in possesion
-
To be fair he was playing on the right of the 3. Great goal but strengthen mowbrays resolve in playing him there
-
An entertaining games today. To pick out some performances.. Brereton - took his goal well (poor defending) looked good In general play but missed 2 other good chances. Rothwell - my MotM, a constant threat, drove at their defence and got a goal and an assist. Carter - very steady debut. Didnt do much wrong defensively and kept it very simple with his passing. JRC - looks good but I'm not sure yet where he ends up. Buckley- there is such a good player in there. Needs to be more robust and more decisive In front of goal Chapman- I've written him off bu looked bright and could be a width option off the bench Holtby - best performance that I've seen from him Gally- brave header more of that please
-
Shoot me down but I'm not quite getting the brereton hype after this.

Rothwell and Armstrong look so good atm it's scary.

Rothwell needs a consistent run in the side on the left of this midfield 3. When he is being positive like today he is so exciting to watch.

If we are doing a no budget blood the youth thing then I'd rather it wasn't mowbray doing it. -
Player of the Season 2019/20

I wouldn't say no debate. Armstrong has had a much stronger second half of the season. Travis has been consistent all season. -

Mowbray has the won the championship more recently than Roy Keane and playing a very attractive style of football. -

As a manager both Mowbray and Keane have won the championship. What he won as a player I'd argue is largely irrelevant now. The advantage of being a manager when you were a great player is that you have pulling power with players as they want to work with you. How many of the current crop would be desperate to work with Keane with the persona he has on tv? Not many I'd guess, also a lot of the younger lads wont have ever seem him play. If those leaked texts from the ireland camp are anything to go by then it appears they weren't particularly in awe of him either. 9 out of 10 is a big exaggeration I think. -

I wouldn't touch Roy Keane the manager with a barge pole -

Veron was a wonderful player who just didn't suit english football. Saw him playing in Argentina well into his late 30's and he was such an incredible technician. Ferguson if memory serves me was starting to come good a bit but got a bad injury (Fractured Knee?) up at Newcastle which ended his season and by the start of the new season he forced his move back to Rangers. -
Tbh I'm not bothered about Chapman getting an appearance, he has clearly lost a yard of pace and is likely finished at this level. It's a shame after he was so exciting off the bench in league 1.

I'll be having a look at the team before I decide to watch this one.
-
As much as I think it was a really stupid thing to do I wouldn't hold it against him too much. I've seen enough of Brereton to know he is more on the timid side so it appeared to me to come more out of a sense of frustration and perversely showed he cares (which I haven't always seen from him). The way Mowbray described Brereton when he bought him and what you see in that youtube highlights reel of him at Forrest you would think he would be suited to the role on the right of a front 3 but he hasn't been used in this role.
-
It was a red for me. He had no intention of playing the ball, the lad went past him and kicked him. For me it's more of a red card than a lot of straight red cards because most of them I ca see the player is trying to play the ball. Deliberate fouls like that should imo be treated more harshly than they currently are.

Rothwell had one of those games today where he hooked me back in. There is one hell of a player In there. -

The Riverside Stand Renovation Thread
BlackburnEnd75 replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'd like to see a rebuilt Riverside stand in an ideal world. In my mind it would be slightly but no significantly smaller than it is at present. I think what Prestons newest stand would maybe be a comparison as it jut makes their ground look so much nicer. Another option would be something that looks quite unique to give the stadium a more modern appeal. The rest of the ground just needs someone to bother to maintain it. -
Mowbray: Stay or Go - A Poll
BlackburnEnd75 replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
part of the problem with Armstrong is he was often deployed way too deep. -
On Nyambe's crossing. He has actually vastly improved in this area in the last 6-12 months. The issue is he rarely actually crosses the ball. Could be many reasons for that though, I think if he was a left back with Gallagher or Samuel on the other side he would probably put the ball in more often. I remember last year thinking he was literally the worst crosser of the ball i'd even seen at ewood, he could barely get the ball off the ground and when he did his technique was shocking. When he does cross it now it's to a much higher standard.

JRC looks a good player but he isnt a left back. Where do people think he will end up? I dont know what happened at half time but Johnson who I have given plenty of stick to came out like a different player and played with real determination. Samuel too came out fired up. I still dont particularly rate him but he worked very hard last night and kept getting into good positions. You have to say he is more effective than Gallagher or brereton.

Think it was just cramp tbh.
