  1. I'd like to see something similar but for me Buttler's average at 6 was very good, I'd move him back. I'd recall Foakes if fit and drop Bairstow who has had another stinker. If Roy gets another go then it should probably be at 4. I'd go: 1. Burns 2. Sibley 3. Root 4. Roy/Northeast/Vince 5. Stokes 6. Buttler 7. Foakes 8. Woakes 9. Archer 10. Broad 11. Leach
  2. He won't need to be racing back as he'll be sat in front of him anyway
  3. Reading Mowbray's he was brought in help us see out games and even play left back when needed. TBF i'd say he was more of a cautious winger, he's not going to go beyond the play too much and he'll keep shape defensively.
  4. You listen to what he was saying in the press and at these supporter meetings and I thought the penny had dropped. You also look at his team selections in the last 6 games of the season and it seemed to suggest he recognised some of the problems. But 1st game of the season back to one defensive winger and one attacking winger. No Rothwell (which personally annoys me more than the defensive selections). Mulgrew back in, Bennett preferred to nyambe. All it was missing was an appearance from Smallwood. To correctly identify the problem then to row back on that is weird. I've lost a LOT of faith in his judgement. I hope he still has the desire to sort it out.
  5. We all knew that the back 4 wasn’t good enough last season. He’s not only decided not to sign another right back but not to start are actual right back who whatever you think about him an actual right back. Mulgrew is done at this level and isn’t good enough, we knew this and has to be dropped for then new lad no excuses. Bells only redeeming feature is he’s a better left back Williams. Another position we could’ve chosen to improve but haven’t. Let’s just hope that Hart is better than we think Dropping Rothwell imo was pathetic, was option for him. Downing was tidy and Armstrong ineffective. I just don’t see what more Rothwell has to do to be considered first choice. id be more annoyed if I hadn’t seen this sort of team selection coming.
  6. Just seen Krystian Bielik who was on loan at Charlton in league 1 last season has gone for £10million to Derby. If that is the going rate for young centre halfs then I can see why we've had problems getting one through the door permanently.
  7. Tbf I think he meant to say Tyrone Mears. Who is 36 and crap
  8. I've got Charlton down to get relegated they've got them down to finish 8th. Suppose it shows what a good league the Championship is.
  9. It will speed up set pieces by stopping pushing and pulling but why would you want to stop the attacking team creating a hole in the wall? It gives an advantage to the defending side which is surely counter productive?
  10. he did, about 3 seasons after he built the team around him , Duff and Jansen
  11. I was talking to someone who knew Joe Nuttall before he got taken on at city. Apparently they get a letter through the post every month to tell them whether they've been kept on or not all the way through the youth system. He's 21 and City still want him around, add those words from Guardiola and him playing 30+ games for the 4th place team in this league last season and I'm quite excited about signing him.
  12. The change in the free kick law not allowing any attackers in the wall is a strange one. Not sure why the powers that be have decided to give more benefit to the team that committed the original offence.
  13. The Palmer situation reminded me off the Alan Judge/Chris Taylor thing we had a few years ago. Whenever a slot opened up on the wing Bowyer played Chris Taylor rather than Judge, Judge left in the January due to lack of game time but if we'd played him instead of Taylor more then he wouldn't have left and he turned out to be by far the better player of the two. With Palmer, Mowbray tried to accommodate him out wide sometimes when really we should've been giving those chances to Rothwell (our own player) who I believe is a better prospect for us.
  14. I'll second that. I just don't understand how we Rothwells position can be under question. Especially if its to accommodate a striker out of position. My Team would be Walton Nyambe Lenihan Tosin Bell Travis Johnson Armstrong Dack Rothwell Graham Subs: Leutwiler, Mulgrew, Bennett, Buckley, Downing, Brereton, Gallagher If Tosin doesn't sign then Mulgrew will have to start with a youngster on the bench.
  15. That is probably the most underrated part of Ferguson's tenure at Man Utd and how they managed to continually refresh themselves. As he got older he spent very little time taking coaching sessions but relied heavily on a modern assistant manager or first team coach who basically ran the training. If we're going to push this new style of play then new more focused ideas in training is a good move.
  16. Mulgrew wasn't dropped despirte his really poor form. He got injured and when he came back Williams had played a few decent games at cb so was left on the bench.
  17. I think that system would work for a few of our players. Armstrong on the right can push up and use his pace with through balls between cb and left back. Rothwell has license to come inside. Gallagher can be a mobile target man. I;ve seen Johnson play that left centre mid/dropping back into a deep left position in attack under clement at Derby so that could work. Travis gets up and down. Dack would have to play more as a 10 than as a second striker. Bell hugs the left flank in attack, Nyambe doesn't get as advanced at right back but is useful vs the counter. Thats if he uses those players in that system.
  18. £5 million for a 31 year old playing in league 1 with year left on his contract. No chance of anyone paying £5million for him
  19. If we let him go on a free back to Scotland now it would be the best solution. If left left now he would be remembered very fondly, all those goals from centre back and the promotion season. If he continues last seasons form into this he'll have his reputation dragged through the mud. He could still do a job at a lower level like the SPL. Really I think Mowbray should have been brave and given the captaincy to Lenihan, but it's easy for me to say that as I don't know how that would go down in the dressing room.
  20. If Nyambe is a centre back now we need a proper right back. Bennett is a bloody good squad player but 1st choice right back he ain't. Mowbray saying he likes versatile players, a few players like Bennett is great but we need specialist now especially in defence.
  21. I hope so but I doubt it with each coming day. Maybe his problem is sometimes he's too open with the media as he's now said a few things which we all expect him to deliver on, yet he may have had a change of heart. He's on record as saying this year is a play off push and he will be judged on that, even what we've spent to date is good for this division. The warning signs are there for me, the way he talks about certain players like Reed and in particular Rothwell really don't add up to me. If he benches Rothwell again vs Charlton I think that will tip me over the edge tbh.
  22. To me it looks like he was playing with the B team and indicates that he won't start vs Charlton. The lineup vs Blackpool at the weekend will likely be the team that starts vs Charlton so it'll be very interesting to see who starts.
