If the club have doubts can they call in a local ref or does it have to be the match ref?

True but why didn't they inspect pitch earlier given the history.

Sky TV shows pitch unplayable and correct to call game off. BUT, 11am? Did we really have that amount of rain or was it the frozen pitch that prevented to rain that started earlier this morning from draining? How good is underground heating? Should or was the pitch covered in anticipation of the weather conditions?

I don't doubt pitch would have been in a bad state if game been on, not helped by additional games played at Ewood on top of Championship games. However, there's a lot of questions as to why it takes an 11am pitch inspection when most of the Pompey fans are well into there 500 miles return journey. We all have a right to see what was done or not done when most of us knew to postponement risk a few days ago.

Pitch has been decent but heavy rain and local flooding is always a concern.

Yeah these international breaks kill the game imo. A lot disagree and see them more important than league games. Football is a funny old game.
