Dilan Markanday was bought for the future not for this season except in dire emergency. Very limited exposure to big boys football and unproven at even Championship level. If he was that good Levy would not have sold so cheaply or is there a buy back clause or big sell on %, apparently our preferred option. His unfortunate injury - did he have hamstring injury history at Spurs? - cannot be used as an excuse for our dire transfer window dealings. We have a manager who says we didn't buy a striker because we don't play that way and yet when I played, at my low level, it was common knowledge that you needed to score at least one to win a game. Just another entry in the Mowbray book of nonsense.

Whilst the keeper was up to his mind games Khadra was stood too straight but just before taking the kick he jigged to his left, destroying any plan he may of had and telegraphing, more or less, where the kick would go. To compound matters it went at a near perfect height to save. We have a 5 million striker who is too shit scared to take a penalty. Words fail me. Did any of our defenders get aerial when that corner came over and our keeper had a brain fade weak as a kitten punch at the ball. Defensively, as a unit, pathetic at the end. Like many I also knew the penalty would be missed and the Thugs score from that corner. When it happened all there was missing was any shocked surprise, which is a good thing and saved any PC damage at the end. I still think we can finish 5th, based on our being a team of fair weather footballers and with an 'easier' run of games, allegedly, coming up and nicer weather on the horizon. Hell even Ayala might fancy a bit of a run about.

Hes a shot stopper who is also decent with shots from distance. He is weak on crosses, punching and sometimes in his kicking - all these when under any pressure. ...... On Gallagher and his aerial prowess - if he actually jumped it would help. He is a big man but not a big hard man. He's a softy and was before he got the lung damage. He can do a decent header but has to be in a position where there is not much challenge. He went missing when the Thugs scored from that corner. He does run around a lot, big f'ing deal, that's what he get the big bucks for. Ashley Ward was better and that sums it up. Mowbray - my position is unchanged and will remain so whatever we do. Having said that I expect him to be offered and to accept a new contract. I preferred Bowyer.

That's how I visualised it working

And we are still in the top 5 for 'goals for' and ahead of tonight's opponents. But in the absence of the man who has scored half of them its difficult to see where the next one is coming from. Our best chance is for our CBs to head on target from a set play or an out of the blue cracker from anybody. With our defence we maybe need just 1......

No, he's not that bad and another plus is that he runs like a footballer, our one cant even do that. Anyone expecting SG to replace BBD goal scoring potential can also expect disappointment, Buckley has more chance. For @Sparks RoverYes, we should have gone for Whiteman

Forest signed Davis on loan on 1st January, obviously they had done their homework early. Both Davis and Archer look and play like pro footballers and we have a galloping donkey. Forest can then sub Davis for Sam Surridge .....

30 pages for a non game! Impressive going, well done to all who made this possible. It is rumoured to have been 4 to 10 but could have been 7. Roll on Wednesday! -
I kind of left boxing alone for quite a few years but have slowly got my interest back. I need to get up to speed on who's who in the sport having now found a 'way' into actually watching live. The 'way' covered all the bouts on Khan night and with a choice of US or UK commentary, the US guys were very good. I'll look out for Taylor v Catterall 👍

Firstly let me day that imho the standard of refereeing in English football is at a low ebb, perhaps the most noticeably lowest in my lifetime with so much TV and internet coverage. However the refs who called games off at a late hour were dealt a bad hand. Call it off and be damned, play the game and abandon and be damned, play the game and it's a farce or a player gets seriously hurt due to conditions and it's their neck on the block and not some club CEO or manager who doubtless will be in full culpability denial mode. I cannot visualise a ref calling a game off late as part of some ego trip. They seem more inclined to strut their stuff on field where the cameras are pointed. Not even Etherington, who I view in the same way as I view the likes of Ward, only slightly ahead of the robot like rubbish now emerging from whatever passes as ref training courses. -

Could it possibly be, however unlikely, that the pitch at Deepdale has been better maintained over the past decade and invested in than that at Ewood? I am not levelling any criticism at the ground staff, soley aimed at the owners and those in any position of power at Rovers. The Ref looked at the pitch with the snow removed, tested it and made his call. -
I wonder if the Blackpool lad got the standard punch bag fee. The girl was not much better. I've seen better on a Saturday night in the pub. Khan was out of it. Ref saved him from punishment.

I am surprised that there wasn't a push on for a pitch upgrade when Mowbray decided to go on the failed Barcelona experiment. The owners sign all cheques that they are asked to.......... So, if that is true, then logically the owners were not asked ... that is actually not too far a stretch but can't be accepted, one reason being it means someone at Ewood it dealing in pork pies.... -

They have only been putting sticking plasters, non waterproof variety, on Ewood all through the Venky dark ages. Its an odd business model where the owners allow the clubs most visible asset to fall into disrepair. Makes me wonder what their chicken extermination factories are like. -

Elland Road was fine at KO. There was rain and the huge downpour came at about HT which produced some standing water. The pitch actually coped ok ..... because of the new drainage system Leeds invested in quite recently. Infrastructure has to be well maintained, if not it becomes an Ewood Park situation. Lack of such investment is what led to yesterdays postponement. The inability of the pitch to cope with the weather thrown at it. That is the bottom line as difficult as it is for some of you ever to admit the club messed up.
