  1. Looking at the table two teams are already falling away. Portsmouth I think are doomed, they don't look good enough, so we are already down to 2 spaces. Again, I think we might be saved by three worse teams. The worry is this yesr there are fewer candidates then the previous season.
  2. Of the limited amount I've seen/heard and read of Rovers this season it's utterly clear that the bargain basement approach is really coming home to roost. No quality offensively and no one to step up - in fact most of our top scorers have all needed a season or two to bed in - means that the issues in attack has been carefully crafted over the past couple of years. Of our attacking options, where do you start? The Japanese lad was worth a punt. We've always had punts to find strikers - remember Jeffers and Fowler. Difference was back then these punts were combined with investment in strikers and proven talent. As it is I think he's probably an OK squad player/impact sub and probably plays at the level of the team. He won't pull the team up, but in a decent squad as a squad player he'd not disgrace himself. Can see why we went for him, just his role in the team is above his level. Gueye - looks lost and a few levels above his ability. That said since he's meant to make it awkward for defences, which is his best (using the term relatively) skill, having no one up front to capitalise is a waste of his very limited talents. Imagine playing Roberts up front under Hughes on his own, he'd have had a fraction of the impact. Misuse aside he's not much use. Weimann - when someone is released by a lower mid table championship outfit the wrong side of 30, alarm bells should be ringing. If he's not good enough for a limited Bristol side, who are where we "aspire " to be, why bring him in? A worrying transfer, whose asset of experience is overly magnified by the derth of it elsewhere. Dolan - controversially I like him. He's a one trick pony but when it works it's very good. Problem is it only works about 1 in every 3 or 4 games. In other games he's useless. In a squad game having Dolan in the squad as an option for when it works or you want something different is fine. When you are relying on something that, perhaps charitably, only works a third or quarter of the time, and it's that integral to your plans, it's asking for trouble. Hedges - the forward version of Jason Lowe. A good engine but a useless footballer well above his level. Cantwell- to me he's an enhancer and creator, whose usefulness is massively undermined by the fact we a) have forwards who can't finish chances and b) have no pace or good movement in the rest of the front line. With that being the case, and him needing to play in the hole - when all our striking options need someone up front with them - we really aren't going to get the best out of him. Leonard - jury still out for me on him. Better than other young players I've seen and has potential but yet to be convinced. The formarion - whilst our defensive mids are probably our strongest area, having both in the team means we are essentially playing with 6 defenders and 4 very limited attackers. With only 4 offensive players it's not a good start even before we consider their quality. The rest of the team has to offer more going forwards. As I type I recognise the issue is probably more with the defence than the 2 sitting mids. If the full backs offered more going forwards. - and probably.JRC could/should fulfil this - then 2 sitting mids is less of an issue. That said if the centre defence wasn't ancient/slow/poor the full backs could push up more. Even without Venkys stinginess we couldn't alter a whole team so two strong defensive mids is fine, if the rest of the team is any good. But ahead and behind they aren't really. Rant over but it's no wonder we don't score.
  3. I think the squad reminds me a little of the one under Coyle. We had 4 good options up top but were threadbare in other places. Feel like it's similar now in that regard.
  4. Dunno if it's injury fitness or age but in this case Kane is looking like the international version of Rhodes. Great finisher but no pace or presence.
  5. Disagree on how many slices we are due. Given the easier draws we have had tournament after tournament I'd say we've a fair bit of luck
  6. Not sure how that was a penalty. Sure the guy was late and maybe due a card but the ball was well gone out of play before he connected.
  7. Absolutely. And both are players who looked class when you were on top of the game but quickly vanished when the going gets marginally tough. Making that sort of guy captain is just making the problem worse.
  8. I'm not saying it's the right or wrong way but the best way. Um, I think by saying it is the best way then by definition you are saying its the right way. English not his strong point. Anyway fair play to the guy on his achievement. He now has as many successes as Owen Coyle to go with all the dross. Well done. A managerial legend in the making.
  9. Basket case decision by a basket case club. Obviously they are Arsenal fans these owners because Pochettino had started to get some results and had them qualify for Europe, which was clearly too much success for their liking. Not that 6th was a huge achievement for what was spent mind.
  10. If the losses/"investment needed" are near £20 million again then there's surely some financial con on top of whatever other naferous lengthy plot they have going. Inconceivable with the amounts generated, the vastly reduced playing budget and lower operating costs that we can be anywhere near that.
  11. Indeed which is why I'm delighted that City won it. They wanted a closed shop for the bug boys and are now worried the shop is closed and smaller than they wanted. Good! They reap what they sow.
  12. Which is why I think he must be a WUM. Because surely if it is umprovable that it was 5 m its unprovable that it's 7. You'd have to be intellectually challenged to not see that. Or alternatively deliberately ignoring it...
  13. Everyone has a level of being dumped on. Under Venkys we are finding out more and more what people's tolerance limits are.
  14. Probably should, although I don't think that excuses your deliberately incendiary posting. Far from it in fact. And you're second sentence shows you knew exactly what he was saying and what an analogy is. Interesting you didn't reply or engage with it properly.
  15. Another point to think on is how many people have already lost their jobs because of Venkys? I mean when I was going as a youngster to Rovers there wasn't really under 20k going to a game. A lot of footfall for local businesses. Now it's half that which must have made an impact on jobs and the like.
  16. Not that Waggot will care but there is the fact that we need to get fresh blood into the club for its longevity. Season ticket holders - even the loyal core who don't care what Waggot or the owners do to crap on the club - will stop for a number of reasons; death, illness, a change in financial circumstances, moving away from the area. It will happen and they need replacing. Even maintaining the 8 to 9k we have takes effort and work. Given we are making zero effort on this long term we won't even maintain our 8-9k. We've seen it already as it's alarmingly dwindled. A drop a division due to a poorly funded team and I reckon it could be another hit.
  17. See, here's my issue. You'd have to be very intellectually challenged to not know what I was going on about. After all I quoted what I was going on about. I mean if that's not a clue... Similarly you'd have to have been very intellectually challenged not to know what the car analogy was about. After all it was in a thread about Rovers transfers, replying to your post, and the average joe can clock an analogy when they come up. So either you are very intellectually challenged - in which case I apologise unreservedly and am so, so sorry - or you are deliberately misinterpreting people - which really isn't on. They're the only two options really.
  18. I think thats the case and it makes me think he's not that astute. Lots of ways he could have bigger them up without it being detached from reality. Makes me wonder about his acumen a bit, plus at Rovers this stuff matters more.
  19. I think in summary the rwo managers has the following although my maths may be sketchy! JDT this season 1.1 points per game. Eustace 1.06 points per game. Then there's the game Johnson had. Neither is particularly inspiring nor fills me with confidence going forwards. Fortunately it has been enough this season.
  20. Your last paragraph shows you aren't using common sense as the chances he will get to shape his own squad when JDT, Lambert, Coyle and even TM at times were not allowed to are beyond minimal.
  21. Blimey, the man's a complete tool. Eustace wants to stay on and help build Rovers to a brighter future. "I hope so yes, absolutely. I came in to help the football club," he told The Lancashire Telegraph. So that’s what he’s here for. To help. Unfortunately his help is akin to my toddler’s help when I’m doing the dishes or cleaning. Also anyone else uneasy about the word help – very subjective, lacks accountability and clarity. He wasn’t brought in to help – he was brought in to achieve success. (Well actually to be a yes man but still…) The loosening of his remit to help, when he’s the sodding head coach is devolving him of responsibility and accountability and shows what kind of person he is. "It's a fantastic football club with fantastic players and fantastic fans. It is a place that I want to be. This is a blatant lie. Now I appreciate he isn’t going to say the players are all crap, but to say they are fantastic is beyond a stretch. It’s delusional and gaslighting. "Over the last 17, 18 games, I think we've had a good consistency in how we have played but what hasn't been consistent is putting the ball in the net and that is something we have to work on and improve," he admitted. Good consistency? What on earth? I suppose we have been consistent, but not in a good way. We’re consistently poor. Again its utter delusion and gaslighting. "The forward players, midfield and defence have a collective responsibility not just to defend but to score. We haven't had enough goals from midfielders or defenders from set-pieces. It's something we will look at." There’s also the issue of our other strikers being appalling. Glad he’s going to look into it at some point, better late then never. What an utter tool.
  22. Said it before but not all opinions are y'knoe correct or should be held in equal regard. I mean if my opinion is the moon is made of cheese, despite some evidence to the contrary, does that make it as valid and to be held in the same regard as other opinions? Who best to take us forward is a different question and completely separate to whether Eustace is the right man for the job. I don't know what 364 x 27.5 is offhand but I know the answer isn't 6! Likewise unsure of who would be best but it definitely isn't Eustace. If I had to go for someone it would be Rowatt despite a bad time at Brum. What he's done at Brum previously and Millwall makes me think he would be a good choice, or as good as we realistically could get.
  23. Yes it's a bit like some lad trying to show how hard he is by insisting he had a Tikka Masala curry instead of a Korma. The whole thing is pathetic.
