  1. thought someone would have said this sooner, it was posted 2.00pn, puts a lot of ??? to rest
  2. i hope the question comes up tomorrow to Souness, Press: "is there a reason why you are unable in recent interviews to mention the names Cole and Flitcroft?". Souness reply: Who are these people?" Press: "you know, the guy you made captain for 4 years and said you wished you had 11 flitcroft's in your team, and other name Cole is the player you signed to save your career in 2001, scored the winning goal in the cup final, the player you insisted had to go to the World Cup and socred nearly 40 goals in 90 starts" Souness: Ofcourse i don't remember them , they are not Scottish!
  3. right so the theory is, we are going to release a player valued at 2 million to join another premiership club for notihing, a team that is a likely rival. And the we are going to pay £30,000 a week so he can play for Fulham for a whole year and have no control over the player, this story is so stupid its almost funny
  4. I severly doubt that we are paying Cole 60K per week. Kluivert and Kanu are about as past it as Yorke. Stay clear. Kluivert's only about 27 yrs old so wouldn't think we can write him off yet But anyway this story better be false, if true i honestly think Souness must be going mad. And if this story is false the editor should be sacked.
  5. well hopefully Emerton going to be on form otherwise Thompson may have to play on the right. I think Souness has his eye on a pre-30's player to fill CM with Ferguson, I think that is now our remaining weakest position, with Tugay poor defensively and Flitcroft lacking pace. Shame we missed out on Davis, but a player of his age and quality would be nice if we can raise funds
  6. Impressive. You noticed this how? Chatting with the staff and/or players, or perhaps you were actually in the dressing room during the last few games? Jesus H Christ Tchocky! I have supported Flitty's role on the pitch as long as he has been here, every team needs a basic grafter / growler / getter and giver..... call it what you want, Flitty's heart has always been in this role and he has carried it out admirably over the years to the extent that other so called 'hard men' will go nowhere near him in a true 50/50 situation. Not Keane, not Butt, not Gerrard not even Graveson.... no one! The memory of Phil Nevilles shocked expression and scream in the opening credits of last years TV Premiership progrmme after a typical Flitty hard but fair challenge will live forever in my memory. BUT it's obvious to a blind man on a galloping horse that Flitty has never commanded the respect from his team mates that a 'proper' captain should. Sure he'll put a foot in front of a runaway train for the blue and white cause but whether he is the butt of some humour regarding his IQ within the squad, or whether he is just happy to be 'one of the lads' I dont know.........but he simply never ever impressed me as being of true captain material or as a natural leader of men. Now IF it is true that this issue came as a complete shock to him and that GS had never conveyed his intent to Flitty or his agent to replace him with Ferguson at anytime since Fergusons arrival (and I find it difficult to believe that neither GF or his agent would not have asked that question last summer either during Flitty's contract negotiations or subsequently) then I am somewhat dissapointed in GS, and my respect for him will fall also. hard call if he did or not, i'm sure in div 1 he did and early PM, but great captains are normally international players thats been my problem with Flitcroft, i think Flitcroft's biggest disappointment was never getting a single cap. The way he was playing at 26 yrs old i thought he would have got a cap easily but he got injured and after he has not quite achieved the same standard. The problem for Flitcroft is Ferguson has better criteria's, and huge name that deserves respect, international captain, captain perviously of a huge team that won the treble, SCOTTISH (souness likes that) , youngish but with experience and a record signing. Almost too perfect to compete with really in the eyes of Souness.
  7. Innocent until proven guilty Where's the quotes, I find it hard to believe
  8. If this summer has taught us anything , it is that players should be judged on how they perform NOW not in the past . It should be interesting whether or not Dickov manages to oust Cole this season or helps to improve him. A hardworking Dickov can only be a massive improvement on Yorke either way. ok, but you can only judge players on their past, unless you have a crystal ball, when Cole was winning the treble wasn't Dickov playing in Div 2. Anyway maybe Dickov will do better then Cole, I just think Cole's different class, and that's generally accepted. I don't think you can judge players on one season sometimes, Ashley Ward and Blake both scored 12 goals in a PL season in teams that went down and Dickov scored 11 excluding penalties, which is the same as Cole and Cole had a BAD season by his standards, and Dickov his greatest ever. I would just rather see Stead and Cole on the team sheet, then Stead and Dickov, but not sure what souness has planned.
  9. And your proof is...? Souness even preferred Nisse on the left wing ahead of Gresko, which is saying something. Rovers should look to offload Gresko as soon as possible. He was rubbish in Italy. He's been rubbish for us bar that initial loan spell. Yeah agree, he's so bad, you can see he has the ability in him, but he consitently has a rush of blood and lacks concerntration. Schoolboy stuff a lot of the time. On the other hand I think Gray has been class and has another good 3-4 years in him hopefully
  10. I was thinking about using Jaws sound track dom, dom...............dom, dom........dom, dom.........dom, dom......dom, dom...dom, dom..dom,dom dom, domdom, dom dom,dom dom, domdom, dom dom,dom dom, domdom, dom dom,dom dom,dom dom,dom dom,dom MATTTEEEOOO!!!!! Top stuff! Intimidating yet fun, the ideal combination for any chant. Seriously think this should be adopted. good for corners

  12. I'd rather see Matteo and Short. i am willing to accept that Amo and Matteo will start, I hope that Amo will prove himself over the next 10 games of the season, now that he has no injury excuse. thankfully we have Gray who is 10x better the Gresko, and now Matteo should be ableto support Amo, Neill has to prove himself this season aswell. Also still would like to see Flitcroft in the starting line up ahead of Tugay, Flitcroft can at least protect the back four playing defensively, allowing Depedro, Emerton and Ferguson to be more offensive then if Tugay was in theteam. Still pleased with Matteo signing, hopefully his legs is OK, and lets keep a look out for some younger bargins now
  13. please tell you are not trying to say that the second best goalscorer of all time in th PL is not as good as Paul Dickov, who most his career has not been good enough to even play in th PL, unless he's got relegated in a single season.
  14. i agree that Dickov is an ok deal but no way at the expense of Cole, he's different class to Dickov, just look at their careers, i know Dickov scored a few goals last season but he can't even play regularly in the Scottish team, Cole has got the second best scoring record of all time in the PL. thankfully i think that Cole knows that the fan like him, we treated him well, i even remember a couple of situations where people we screaming abuse at Yorke when warming up with Cole, yet we were singing Cole's name which was common. Hopefully this will help him to stay.
  15. yeah i think if Flitcroft can get some good fitness then he could be the perfect partner if he's still up to it, its like with Gerrard you have a Hamman, with Scholes you have a Keane, or Lampard a number of possible defensiv midfielders etc etc. don't like the look of Tugay and Ferguson as a starting pair.
  16. strange comments by Souness in LET today, he appears to completely blank out Flitcroft from the midfield, rather mentioning De Pedro, Thompson Emerton, Tugay and Ferguson and the main 5 players, you would think he would mention Flitcroft with these players and a likely starter if Souness still had any faith in Flitcrofts abilities.
  17. At least Dailly did not nake Captain that would have been worse then Carsley, WestHam fans poor every game, I hated him, poor West Ham Actually if I remember correctly Parkes made Carsley captain because he said, Carsley will be here longer then most players, obvoiusly rated him, well Parkes said that's why he's captain, could have been Kidd that first gave it to him.
  18. You can't compare the fees for Gerrard and Duff. Duff had a clause of £17mil in his contract and no club was going to pay more than that for him. If Gerrard had a £10mil clause in his contract that how much he'd go for course you can, Blackburn valued Duff at 17 million when the contract was made, likely expecting nobody could match it, it was quite high really, Liverpool value Gerrard 25-30odd million. Gerrard would "not" have a 10 million clause because he is worth more then 10 million, Gerrard would also "not" have a 17 million clause because he is in Liverpool's opinion worth more then 17 million. That's a pointless arguement. Very simple when you think about it. Blackburn never expected anyone to be able to afford / pay that much for Duff. Abramarich had never even been heard of in the footballing world. If he had Duff's clause would probably have been higher, just like Gerrard and Rooneys price tags. As for Gerrard being worth more than £10 mil, the Gerrard in Euro 2004 was certainly not worth anywhere near £10mil!!!!! And it can't be that pointless if you have bothered to respond then how would you have ever known it was pointless? If you are judging every player on 2004 then Beckham's worth 10p, personally don't remember many England players that didn't consistently give the ball away, but they don't do that for their club e.g. Scholes, Lampard, Beckham to name a few. as whether Duff would have cost more had we known of Abramarich, well nobody has the answer to that, Duff was important to us like Parker was to Chalton or Saha to Fulham, it doesn't mean just because of Abramarich any player is worth 30 million overnight, I still think 17 million was a good fee. we will have to agree to disagree
  19. You can't compare the fees for Gerrard and Duff. Duff had a clause of £17mil in his contract and no club was going to pay more than that for him. 20. I agree, they should force kids at schools all across the country to read Garner's book , infact why not sing hymns able Garner at asemblies instead of them Christian hymns
  21. You'd rip Chelsea's hand off for that offer. Parker is a very good player, and while he isn't as good as Gerrard- he could do a job. In Duff they'd be getting a very special player- and then 20m to strengthen in other areas. I don't think there is a player in the world that I'd turn down 20m, duff, and parker for. A united fan I know said he'd sell Ruud for that offer. Yeah think I would take it, i have only seen about 5-10% of the Liverpool games this season, but Parker has not made a great impact at Chelsea and Duff is injuried half the time, really I think most Liverpool fans want to build a team around Gerrard, he their best player and they have Kewell and "The Fuhrur" to fill Duff and Parkers role from their point of view.
  22. Scousers used to enjoy a reputation for being the most knowledgable fans in the country...........well this sure explodes that myth! However Chris I do agree with your belief that Gerrard is indeed 'different class' to Duffer! Gerrard is a damned good Sat aftenoon player without question but various adjectives that commonly accompany his name eg 'great' and 'world class' are miles wide of the mark. I dont know if Opta is up to date but I feel our Stevie might just be the top English player to have given the ball away more than any other in Portugal. imo in a Fantasy Football situation Gerrards value to us would be as a replacement for Flitty. He would do well as a 'water carrier' for Tugay who possesses more footballing talent in his big toe than Gerrard has in his entire body. well there must be some reason Duff was worth 17 million Parker 7 million and Gerrard 31 million(so reports say). Gerrard pretty much carried the whole team throught the season, Liverpool that is. Infact when i told a couple of Liverpools it was Duff, Parker and 20 million they all said no. Can't be replaced. Really we have not been watch Liverpool consistently to judge whether he is as great as they say, or worth 31 million. I didn't think he had the best Euro 2004 but other high profile players were not much better e.g. Henry, Beckham, Owen. I think if Duff and Parker were signed for Gerrard, Owen would likely leave still. P.s. I don't think Tugay's good enough to clean Gerrard's boots, talk about giving the ball away.
  23. I didn't know any of the others, obviously know Garner. anyway don't think they could get well known names like Marsh or Best to dress up as a sausage or wear a wig
  24. Gerrard IMO is a different class, and most Liverpool fans i talked with would not be happy with Duff and Parker if they lost Gerrard. Duff has two great abilities, one is running with the ball past players, and the other is consistently being a sicknote, when he is injured it takes him 2 month just to regain form. Duff would have done little to nothing for us last season, like he did for Chelsea. BTW RevidgeBlue we would have bought Gresko, Amo and Emerton and possibly Reid without selling Duff anyway, Emerton and Amo were signed before Duff was sold. The players that have come for Duff fee is particularly Ferguson, Stead, De pedro and wages of Gray, and possibly any future signings. Ferguson is not a sick note, hes been consistent for many years, unlucky injury, don't think this will be a common theme. I'm not amazed Chelsea maybe replacing Duff with Robben
