  1. To be frank, I don't think Ferguson needs advice on how to be a good captain. In fact, it would be bloody cheeky if Flitty offered to tell a man who has captain Rangers and Scotland how it should be done. Besides, everyone has their own methods. Seems strange that there are no quotes consoling and thanking Flitty from our manager. Mmm, not another bust up... I think Flitty could be off. thats a good point, i was disappointed he didn't pay respect to Flitcroft, hopefully edited out by LET. Still really look forward to Ferguson leading out the team
  2. Your comments seem odd to me, basically most people here have agreed with Souness to pass the captain position on to Ferguson, and you are using Flitcroft SCORING in a single game, so what Warhurst, Gallacher, Gilespie, McKinlay have all scored against Man U, i don't get it, winning goal 2 years ago or not its a team performance. What i have read is most people think Flitcroft has done well for Blackburn but is now not going to be regular so have agreed with Souness. Ferguson has work-rate, ability and experience and is Souness's main man obviously, makes perfect sense. I fully back it.
  3. I hope Bazza being captain does not mean he can play out of position, take all our penalties even if he misses three important penalties in a row and blame grass for defeats
  4. How can you say that when he has been captain whilst we have won promotion, won the WC, and qualified for Europe by finishing 6th in the league. He must have been doing something right!! sure he didn't play in the cup final, Berg was captain in the great match He was made captain when we were in div 1 and he was 28yrs old and one of our best starting players. Now nearly 32yrs old after a bad season, not likely to always start and being one of a few non-internationals, its fair to let a guy who captains his country and is in his peak and a must start and our best player, to have a go. So good move
  5. i heard rumours our next friendly is in Saudi Arabia, i can't wait, lucky I'm half Swiss so I will take my Swiss passport to avoid featuring in any internet videos
  6. if anyone writes a song for Javi with the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody, i will hunt you down
  7. quite funny but not sure it will catch on
  8. rather then arguing about how he's going to do lets wait, if a small majority can't get excited and a new left winger who obviously has talent/potential thats their problem, they could be right or wrong, who cares, it ALWAYS the same people! but we don't have a crystal ball so nobody knows P.S. Actually I do have crystal ball downstairs but it does not work like that
  9. So, De Pedro has an "unknown" problem that frightened off Saints, plus he's had a falling out with Sociedad. Sounds like his agent has done a perfect selling job on Souness. Good old, Souey, the Arthur Daley of football. He'll take on all the rubbish no one else wants. yeah because some random fan said so it MUST be true,
  10. He might collect spoons. We know what them lot are like after the last one we had keep him and Jansen apart then
  11. I'm with you on this. It's the whole transfer strategy that is puzzling me. Soon when the Sportsworld deal ends, we can lease the ex roverthemoon shop to a retirement home. I just hope that we continue scouting for a striker and a left winger despite signing Dickov and De Pedro because realistically we need to planning for replacements for the both of them next summer. I just feel that this summer Souness has got sick of this whole transfer business and just tol JW to go get him because he was free. Anyway, it's always nice to have a new face in the team. i'm fairly good with numbers and remembering them, but icould be slightly off Freidel 33yrs old, peak age for keeper Gray 29 yrs old great age for defender, experienced not too old Amoruso 33yrs old getting to the end but two years in him, never been quick Todd 29 years old good age 4 or 5 years Player of season Neill 26- reaching peak but last season not great Emerton 25 years old reaching peak Thompson 27 years old at peak age Flitcroft- maybe slowing down at 31 years old, need younger player here Ferguson 26 years old- Perfect age, hitting peak De Pedro 30 yrs old- it is pushing, i take heart in Ginola and Waddle winning player of the season at 33yrs old Stead 20 yrs old- young player may years ahead Cole 32yrs old experienced and still has allot to offer in his final year i think these are the likely starting players can't pick between Thompson and Emerton, but mixture of youth and experience i think
  12. His free-kicks appear to curl straight into the face of his own striker judging by that photo. That's going to annoy Cole. Good news though. At last we have a left winger on the books again. Wonder where we'll play him well emerton isnt playing that well, maybe souey will put him on the right competition for places, thats what i like, Reid, Thompson, Emerton, Pedro all fighting, hopefully it will mean produce the goods or you have no chance. I'm quite enjoying the signing this pre-season, really increasing compeition for places and taking care of the left hand side, generally i have confidence in 90% of Souness signings, so hopefully a couple younger player could continue to improve squad.
  13. having no money is rubbish, but smart tactics, Souness has admitted before he will feed the fans and press crap to help him achieve the clubs targets. Anyway thats two 30+year olds for 150,000 toal transfer fee, 31 and 30 thats fairly good, now we could do with a bit of youth to keep things balanced, any good young defensive midfielders around and don't dare say Douglas.
  14. never seen him play but he has a big rep, is free and has a good left foot (I expect) so hopefully smart business, well on paper anyway, players like Ginola,Pires and Giggs were/are all still brilliant a 30yrs old. Hopefully this signing will at least please some fans complaining about Dictov being too "small" of a name to re-new their season tickets
  15. Rooney , Gerard , Lampard , Owen.....I think you're over playing the French a bit , Mr Paul. We more than matched them last night . If (hopefully) we play them again I know who I'll put my money on . Owen, yep agree always worry about him when Liverpool are in town. Rooney - well not on the basis of seeing him at Ewood but after last night, yes. Rooney looked like he might create something and of course, did. Gerrard, Lampard - no dont agree. They wouldn't worry me every time they got the ball. That is the sort of thing I'm trying to get at; the "oh ######, it's Owen/Henry/Zidane" factor. It's the feeling every time Shearer had the ball - something was gonna happen. you should worry about Lampard, second best player in UK last year behing Henry and he scores s**t loads of goals from midfield, just like the last two games for England he has scored in.
  16. I think Matteo will do ok, hopefully we can him cheap, he was with Leeds when they were quality and a regular at Liverpool, and he's 30yrs old which is perfect age for a defender. Certainly an improvement on Dickov who will find it difficult to start if Cole and stead are fit. So far we are looking at 1 million Matteo, 2 million Pedersen, 150,000 Dickov and then we have approx 1 million for another player. Hopefully a defensive midfielder.
  17. Simon Garner praises the signing of Dickov then he says this: "He reminds me of another Scot I played alongside when I was at Ewood Park, David Speedie. Speedie was a much better player and scored more goals than Dickov but he did a similar job and had the type of experience that Dickov can bring." is it still a complement or an insult
  18. now lets take Dictov on a training trip to Spain, he knows how to party
  19. yeah great point, i have asked a few that don't post and they think he's not great, but when they had a think about it, £100,000 and consider him a replacement for Yorke as most hate Yorke then it looks better.# The fact that Dickov has not even been able to get a regular starting role in the Scotish team in the last five years, when Scotland are crap is worrying but he did do half decent last season, but(again) then Blake and Ward achieved 12 goals in the PL in their careers before rovers transfers. A lot of but's for me to have confidence about the signing, hopefully we are going to see some better signings still, I expect so.
  20. not really sure about this one, is getting old and although 11 goals is not bad, some were pens, so in open play probably not an improvement on what we have, still he's cheap and hopefully will be happy on the bench, but more important then Dickov will be the signings in key areas in midfield.
  21. is O'Neill really proven, ok he got Foxes mid table and won a couple of micky mouse cups, but in Scotland you are either going to finish 1st or 2nd with Cetlic, there is not other place, you could buy average PL players and they would be a different class in Soctland e.g. Lennon, Thompson, Hartson. Liverpool is a job that O'Neill has not come close to, buy world class players to go with Owen Gerrard, Kewell. He can't go and buy average players and make the half decent, thats would not work at Liverpool.
  22. what rubbish!!!! When tugay plays, we lose more than we win Shut up!! He's our creativity, he's the one that makes things happen. Fulham away ring any bells? Birmingham at home more recently, he was on another planet for the first 20 minutes of the second half. Our players weren't good enough to predict what magic he's going to pull out next! maybe our players can't predict what he is going to do but in 70% of matches the other team has, Tugay has been poor in too many, Greggyk is right, think this season we have lost more games with Tugay in the team then we have won, i think its because Souness has expected too much from Tugay, hes good at passing, but he slow and can't tackle, he needs to play further forward like he has done in the last 6 games. People that say to replace Tugay would cost 15 million, well at 30 years old he was only worth 1.2 million, for 15 million i would expect a player that can tackle or score 10+ goals from midfield a season, but most important, a consistent player, Tugay has never been consistent over a season.
  23. i think we can move on and let Tugay go, he was good in only around 25% of games this season, the rest he was fairly poor, such inconsistency is not good for the team, and he's nearly 34yrs old, maybe its time to consider moving on, he is replacable, he does not score and can't tackle and is not consistent, Ferguson can score and can tackle and has been consistent for Rangers, but on top form Tugay can switch play and spread the ball with great passing so weight ther pro's and con's.
  24. I remember mid season when both Yorke and Cole were getting terrible stick from the media and they found themselves on the bench, well the fan sang Coles name and ignored or insulted yorke "lazy you know what", so Cole had to be please that he came through that bad patch ,leaving Yorke behind and had a great end to the season like he started it.
