Lost 8 points so far from it - Blackpool, WBA, Cardiff and now today. Don’t know if it’s mental, stamina or what but it is a problem and something the manager needs to address. Teams know if they can stay in the game they will get a goal late on. It is already costing us and will likely cost us a too 6 finish if we can’t sort it.

On the other side of that, we haven't scored a 90th min or later equaliser or winner for over a season. I mean I can't even remember the last time we did..!

  2. I've seen a few threads with poster's thoughts/opinions on SS. So as to not bung up those threads and to give a consise place to discuss our highest xfer fee purchase during the window I thought I'd start a new thread.

I know it is really early days and I don't want to judge a player too early. However I must say that I'm underwhelmed thus far. It appears we have a over paid for a relatively limited player. And I'm still not quite sure what he is supposed to offer that Dack couldn't?

  3. What a fantastic victory! This was a real test and we passed it with flying colours. Hopefully Brittain and Phillips will be ok for Wed, we certainly need bodies through the door!  I also added the below to the JDT thread but thought it appropriate here too.

What struck me after beating WBA was the difference in the 2 managers. Wba have an excellent squad that has cost a lot of money to assemble. Yes they are missing a main focal point striker at the moment, but we had men out at the back.

However we managed to prevail, largely because or how much better a manager I think JDT is compared to Bruce. Bruce is stale, old fashioned, makes excuses, says the same soundbites. JDT on the other hand is young, progressive, attention to detail, enthusiastic and is demanding of the players.

I truly believe that if the roles had been reversed (ie Bruce managed us and JDT Wba) that they would have battered us today.

Wba may still go up, but it will be in spite of Bruce as opposed to because of him.

I did but not a Rovers' win!  Felt more strongly there would be goals rather than Rovers winning so went for >2.5 goals.  The 'nice red' was mainly to celebrate the win - so nice to have a 'feel good' factor back; the winning bet was the icing on the cake!

Haha! Interesting that you say this game is a license to print money, the bookmakers seem to agree with you.. Rovers were 1.40 a few days ago when you were encouraging us to lump on. We're 1.22 now. H'pool have gone out to 12 from 8 (apologies I live in Nz now and have gone fully decimal with odds!)

    I agree.

There is a horse I quite fancy in the 5:20 at Gowran Park tomorrow (Emphatic Answer at 4/1) and I have placed a decent sized bet.  I strongly fancy Rovers tomorrow and for that reason have made a much bigger bet on Rovers - a 40% return on a big bet is not to be sneezed at!

Merc I noted in the Swansea thread you said you were opening a nice bottle of red to celebrate.. Did you have anything on that game?

  7. TM used to frustrate the hell out of me in these legue cup games as he would somehow contrive to get the worst of both worlds. He wouldn't play many youngsters, yet would manage to get us knocked out 1ST round every year.

Whilst it is not a priority, I'd like us to go 3 or 4 rounds as it is an opportunity for the youngsters to play men's football and give fringe players an opportunity to show what they can do.

Agree with most of the XIs that give Edun, Phillips, JRC, dack, Morton, Garret, A Wharton, Dolan, DM and Vale some minutes. Would also like to see Butterworth too.
