[Archived] More Madness From Mcclaren

Looks rather like Mc Claren has been tapping Beckham up to employ him when he loses his job as England manager. -
[Archived] Citeh To Sack Barton?
Fife Rover replied to LeChuck's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I am not angry at all Theno; I just happen to believe very passionately in the observance by all of the rule of civilised behaviour, and this applies equally on the football pitch as it does in the streets. That's why we have laws both in society as a whole and in games. I can honestly say that in my entire football career I never once went into a tackle with the intention of hurting anybody; but just to get the ball. I was not always successful in this as you might expect and conceded my share of fouls like anyone else. But the point is I NEVER intended to foul; it just happened. And in my entire career I was only ever booked once, and that was for foul and abusive language aimed at my team mates when we were getting trounced. -
Thanks for the warning DG. I will retire immediately.

The day that Rovers sign a violent criminal like Barton will be the day I stop supporting them. -
He is, but he's not perfect. I rate him a better prospect overall than Neil though.

Huge admission prices?

Whatever happened to the days when for the whole week at work you could only think and talk about one thing: Rovers? There was only one place to be on Saturday afternoons: Ewood Park or alternate weeks :Deepdale. The entertainment we got then for about the same price as a pint of mild! Unbelievable now, but for me and many thousands now lost to the game, a very cherished memory. You never know; those days may come back when the bubble bursts for the get rich quick brigade and the TV finds other things to exploit.

Warnock is proving to be one of the best LB's I have seen at Rovers. Not THE best, but certainly one of them, and there have been quite a few. The one that still stands out from all the others though is still Bill Eckersley; he had the lot: great tackler, could bomb up the wing and send great accurate crosses in to the CF, and could dribble and beat a man as good as most top wingers of his day. Tom Finney says Bill Eckersley was the one of the best full backs he ever faced. -
That was my favourite place for years, and was the reason I had to ensure I got on the ground early as it was always a target for the early comers. Absolutely fabulous view with no chance of any one in front obstructing your view because they were at least 3 feet below you.

What a pity that the Man U. fans will not be doing the selecting when the time comes to find a replacement for RFW. -

[Archived] Bowen For Norwich Job?
Fife Rover replied to trs's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I think in general you are right there Theno. But consider the case (which could occur) where MH is offered the Man U job, and wants to take his present Rovers staff with him. Also at the time this happens, Rovers are either in the top 4 or are around 5th or 6th and have built a squad capable of achieving and maintaining top 4 status. What does Mark Bowen do in these circumstances? I would argue he might just be tempted to stay at Rovers as the manager (assuming Rovers offer him the position) and show what he learned and is capable of. -

Very good that Theno. I am sure He will if they ask sincerely. -

Reading that article I think Sparky has got Benni well and truly sussed. The last two sentences send a clear message to Benni; it is entirlely up to him whether or not he heeds it. -

Whilst agreeing entirely with the sentiments expressed by Hairway to Steven, I also agree with Cravenblue as I too have never noticed any booing of MGP. Mind you, as I have only the TV to go by that may not be as obvious as as it is to those on the ground. I do however hear others getting booed; Bentley for instance by the opposition fans. All very bad and says much more about the ignorant morons that do it than it does about the person it is aimed at. -

I was flabbergasted that Benni came out for the second half! I was really sure that it would be Roberts, but even when MH did make a sub up front it was young Derbs and not Roberts who I am sure would have given their defence a much harder time than any of our players had up to then. -

Yes Theno, I do remember John Radford arriving at Ewood and the sense of excitement and anticipation which that produced in most Rovers fans. "Big name player, used to play for Arsenal, coming to little old Blackburn Rovers, whatever next?" Unfortunately the reallity turned out somewhat differently. Not that he was a bad player, more that he (to put it in the venacular) "couldn't be arsed". -

This has got to stop Theno; I find myself in complete agreement with you again! PS. That's quite thought isn't it! 50,000 people on that little wooden bridge at once. -

My thoughts exactly Krislu. I honestly cant recall a single thing he did in the whole match that I would call useful. I was surprised that he was not subbed much sooner than he was. We might even have got another one if he had been.
