I think sony have dropped the ball here. This means that the 360 will have had 2 xmas periods before the ps3 comes out and with the 360's games catalogue being a lot larger its not looking good. Throw in the £425 price tag and a spring release and I think they will struggle against the 360 (in europe anyway). I bought a 360 as a stop gap before the ps3. Now i'm considering not even buying a ps3 on launch but waiting for the inevitable price drop late next year when Sony realise what a hash they have made of the European launch!

When I was doing my research Samsung and Sharp were getting all the best reviews for LCD tv's. The second TV you show there I already own. I bought it for my bedroom and also decided to use it as my PC monitor and I have to say I am very impressed. PC picture is sharp and the XBOX 360 is also very sharp (at 720p). It has all the connectivity you could ask for (HDMI, 2 x SCART, composite, progressive scan). Microsoft used the LE26R41BD (albeit the 23" version) to demo the XBOX 360 in stores! Highly recommended if you are after an LCD tv.

Has anyone actually managed to pick one up yet (not imported)? I managed to get my hands on one but had to buy it from Spain whilst I was there for the new year! Must say I've only ever gone "wow" at the PS when that first came out - I have now done the same with this (PGR3 has to be seen to be believed). God only knows what the PS3 is going to be like!!

Currently in Work in West London and a lot of people have failed to turn up for work. A lot of frantic calling and e-mails are being sent out by our HR dept. Luckily my family managed to get through to me. 1 of my work coleagues (whom I have just spoken to luckily) arrived in russel sq literally minutes after the bus exploded - he's pretty shaken up and still cant gwet home as the whole area has been shut off. Hes' gonna be walking home. I work for the Carphone Warehouse in the HO and Charles Dunstone told us that the mobile netowrks in london were shut off for fear of that being use as the detonation mechanism. Looks like i'll be walking home tionight, but i'm just glad to be safe. I hope anyone with friends or family here manage to get in touch. We cant let terrorism win!!!!

You'd have thought so (regarding the ps3) but Sony are still sticking to their guns and insisting that they were not pre rendered but all in real time. But the cyninc in all of us is bound to want to believe otherwise.......... Don't give a flying toss about the screenshots and movies. it's the innovative technology i care more about - where does the PC go from here with leaps in performance like that. The pc's architecture is creaking now and is taking longer and longer each time new consoles are released to catch up and overtake. Took 2/3 years from XBOX release for it to catch and over take it. It's gonna be harder from this point on to do that without spending bucket loads of cash. The debate is all part of the fun....we have months to go yet and these are just the opening moves...

There are some good articles on this site about both consoles eurogamer Personaly it looks as though in terms of raw power the ps3 is likely to be the most powerful console we've ever seen. Sony's cell technology is a step up from the classic chip architcture and IBM have said they are likely to put these cells into their future mini computers as they are based on IBM's powerpc chip (just like the xbox). BUT....XBOX 360 is still a powerful beast and since i'm fortunate enough to earn enough to buy both i'll have the best that both has to offer. Nintendos revolution looks like it'll be good to play retro gaming on and is backwards compatible with GC meaning good games like Zelda Windwaker/resident evil 4 will be available to play. Now, Microsoft have said that "some" games will be backwards compatible and have recently said that the older games will have to be recompiled against its new architecture to work!!! I dont think microsoft will be daft enough to carry on like this though before launch as sonys machine is backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 because its got full versions of those consoles on one chip on board. Still a long way to go folks and there will be claim and counter claim leading right up to xmas for the xbox launch and then up until the ps3 comes out next spring. Personally can't wait!!! Hope they change the shape of the ps3 though - it looks awful.

Damnit!! Ordered mine on Tuesday morning too (when the computers were down) and didn't find the tickets on my doomat when I got home this evening. If they don't arrive tomorrow i'm going to start to panic. But I do live in West London, so it may take an extra day to get here (Picture me standing here with a bunch of straw in my hands). This is because of the bovril brigade and the fact that a lot of families go in the JW. Personally I think a lot of bbe regulars will be forced into the jw stand due to demand outstriping supply. Hopefully this will mean that we'll be able to generate some sort of atmosphere without looking like a complete pratt as you start up a song only to be greeted with silence. It's soometimes worse than a doctors waiting room.

Got mine about 1 hr ago. The queue is pretty quick once you are on it (it also helps if you have a mobile with a loud speaker). They also told me that when they got in this morning their computer systems had gone down, it sounds as though they were writing everyones details down Talk about timing!!! Come next Tuesday i'll have a 400 mile round trip from Ealing in London, and still back at work on Wednesday. Wouldn't miss it for anything.
