Hmmm. The Mowbray death spiral has been known to stop at 3 losses - although typically it goes on for a game or two longer (not to mention this time round it has a sniff of being terminal). Unless they go down to 10 we won't be getting anything here. 2-1 loss for me - very similar to Wednesday. Despite only having 1 shot, we'll beat them on box entries, so Mowbray is thrilled.

According to him we're unfortunate not to be scoring 5 a game. In reality I could count the decent chances we've created in the past few matches on one hand.

Indeed. He has consistently talked about needing 'men' in the side, particularly at the back. Yet where do we find ourselves? A back three comprised of a rapidly regressing Lenihan, and two on loan kids who are here to play week in week out regardless of their performances. He can't even seem to take his own advice on board.

Elliot needs to be the first pick on the team sheet after Kaminski as he’s the only bugger who can make anything happen. Somebody else came out with a good theory that TM probably hasn’t liked the plaudits and attention he’s been receiving so given him the old back down to earth treatment. He may have needed a one match rest but that’s it. He’s head and shoulders above anything we have creatively and given we’re not scoring and hardly fashioning anything, he simply has to start.

What makes tonight even more galling is Barnsley played on Thursday and Sunday. Truly pitiful.

Without pulling a Mercer I really wished we hadn’t scored that consolation goal as he will 100% come out with guff like ‘we very nearly grabbed an equaliser’ and ‘we pushed them right to the end’. That was the only time we got in their half after the 60th minute.
