A pre-requisite for a full back (even more so wing back) has to be pace. If we line up with Pickering / JRC as our full backs / wing backs this season then we'll be in huge danger - regardless of who we (finally) bring in elsewhere.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s more than 1% chance that he signs a new deal with us. Why would he? He will get a better pay day now or at the end of his contract elsewhere. By a country mile too.

Only problem is he’d cost more than a packet of pork scratchings. And would want a decent Championship wage. Both of these rule us out.

We need to get creative with our wage structure. FFP is obviously a huge hindrance, but so is not budging at all for the right player.

Also, we could bring in the best in the industry, yet given we seemingly pay with magic beans these days, it won’t make any difference no matter how good he is.

Indeed. It’s going to be infuriating should that happen as the bloke is such a breath of fresh air.

I’m on holiday until the weekend. I can pretty much guarantee I’ll miss the square route of bugger all. The ‘urgency’ to ever get things done at our club is beyond alarming.

Yep, or can we act quickly enough. The answer to the latter under this regime, has largely always been 'no'. The proof will be in the pudding, but you've gotta say we surely need to bring in a couple over the next week or so otherwise alarm bells will well and truly be ringing.

We can occasionally come out with a left field move or two, but this is going to have to be off the charts left field for us to actually get a signing or two in over the next couple of days when there is absolutely zero rumours.
