  1. Oz Haven't had a decent pie at Ewood since Hollands got the boot. ps Called in at Corbieres for a livener this week - jukebox still the best in this hemisphere.
  2. The fences will only be for decorative purposes if the Brantfell Road boundary is left unfenced. Can't fathom that one out.
  3. Mark Hughes stated after the Feyenoord game that he wanted to finish top of the group.
  4. Now I wouldn't mind going to Benfica........
  5. All of the above plus Eastville 1981. Any of the early live tv games. The cameras often came to Ewood when we played top flight opposition (FA Cup on a Friday evening v Southampton?) and we hardly ever won. Any of the numerous play-off games we lost. Nearly all the European results. There are more but too many to mention here.
  6. Can anyone confirm that the Golden Cup has changed hands this week and is now run by Linda Fox of the Jubilee?
  7. It won't be very equal if it's two against one though will it? I'll take Den to win, with Alan on the bench. Either that or we give Vinjay the choice of a Killer BT Fighting Duck or a squirrel.
  8. Went to Manchester yesterday and noticed that trees in Deansgate and St. Ann's Square still had leaves on.......and it's December tomorrow!
  9. Hello Lee! ......obviously the critter was on its way to or from the park!
  10. It would be good to see another British player in the Rovers team. In the 1995 title winning side, I can only remember one non-British player, Henning Berg.
  11. Last Saturday afternoon the place was populated by families, dog walkers and squirrels (I seem to remember another thread about squirrels ).
  12. I would have to agree LC - the board seems to consist of aged pessimists, cynics and kids. Anyone else stand up and be counted.
  13. A local bloke told me that the contractors used Polish workers who drove from Stockport every day. A few of the things that impressed me: Decent gates and railings. Fountains restored. The ornamental lake, waterfall and stream. Working clock with chimes on top of the conservatory. The Broadwalk is magnificent. Planters on the ballustrades lining the steps. Reinstated paths free of water. The overgrown greenery and Rhodedendrons have been cut back to open the place up. The inevitable CCTV to help keep the place in one piece. Very pleasant, even in late November.
  14. Took the dog for a walk today. Very impressed with the restoration work that's been completed.
  15. I thought Mr Gray was poor and careless in posession, in a strong Rovers first half performance. Mind you, I also thought Tugay was class and the ref & one linesman were below par.
  16. Well if yer luck's out, yer luck's out. Bring back George Courtney! Can't wait for Bryan's comments on this one.
  17. I was at Lyon - the following was nowhere this level of interest.
  18. My first away game.....Bury's average gate swelled by 10,000 Rovers fans to 12,000 on a Tuesday night. The home fans had been displaced into the away end so that Rovers had both sides (inc. main stand) and the home (Manny Road) end. The Manny Road End consisted of two halves: the lower was tarmac and the upper was terracing made of railway sleepers which bounced! Garner, Keeley et al duly paid homage to the Worshippers with fags and champers from the directors box. Priceless.
  19. Ta Lee. Re my name - there's a clue in the MC bit!
  20. What was his name Lee?
  21. Postponements...ah those were the days! Part and parcel of football and games in hand were NEVER any good in the run to the finishing line but we all thought that it would be different 'this time'. Anyone remember 'Ewood beach' end of '79/'80 season? Only the corners had grass! And last game one season in the 80's at Ewood (Grimsby?) tee shirts and shorts in the Aqueduct at 2.30 and its spitting. 10 mins later and the match is off - waterlogged! Some of these posters need to queue overnight in Nuttall St in a snowstorm for Jan Cup tickets, then they can moan.
  22. That explains the tranny vans full of pipework and bits of fur!
