There's certainly a much better atmosphere away from Wombley and the players even look more up for it (from midfield on at least). We could do with an England game up at Ewood Park. That's probably the only time we'll ever see it full ever again.

No surprise there. They were hardly likely to go for wholesale changes with the series still in the balance, besides there are so many players that could de dropped I don't think Smith and Token Taylor and co. would have a clue which ones to go for. You could arguably say 7 places are up for grabs. Buttler, Roy, Bairstow? Root is also a pretty poor captain. There just aren't any ready replacements out there in this form of the game. Made worse by the scheduling. All players are currently still in T20 mode or not playing at all.

Isn't it just a little bit ironic how certain Aussies were banned for ball tampering yet in this series the rules have already seen them twice get a change of ball in a condition that cheats could only ever dream of. As for the umpiring and that 'review'. It's quite concerning to hear a 3rd umpire say 'there's no evidence that he hit the ball' when literally every single other person can see he basically middled it. It makes you wonder what's said in the football VAR room.

It's good to play the 'youngsters' and fringe players in the competitive qualifiers (albeit they seem very testimonial). Though at what stage should Southgate have a settled tournament starting team? It's highly likely that we will have secured qualification for the Euro 2020 Finals in around 4 weeks time.

I think Raya is going to be yet another one of those players that gets better and better as bad memories of him here fade.
