  1. Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Pardon My Heart
  2. How is Bennett meant to decipher that though? I want a motivated player on that park, not someone who thinks “why bother?” (Not that Bennett has ever given less than 100% but you get my drift). Its a difficult question and I don’t have a ready answer for you to be honest. Can’t see for the life of me how booing helps though.
  3. Fair enough mate, booing our own players is a pet hate of mine. It’s absolutely okay to dislike players or not rate them, but when they have a blue and white quartered shirt on they are playing for us. Particularly pre-match.
  4. The best teams have eleven captains on the park. Go through the Rovers premier league champions - even the wingers would have been fine captains. Same with the promotion sides of 1992 and 2001
  5. Yeah in any given game obviously but when you ‘announce’ someone as the new captain, taking over from the club captain (which is what Mulgrew was) he isn’t saying “this guy gets picked automatically”, he is saying “this guy is the captain”. Hanley was Norwich captain last season but barely featured in their team. I actually agree with you in respect of Bennett’s ability as a footballer but I can never agree with your attitude via a vis booing.
  6. There’s no such thing as a ‘match day captain’
  7. That’s not what you posted though was it? What you posted was this...
  8. Anyone who has ever watched a Rovers match with me will know that I never sit in silence. But then I would not boo a Rovers name read out over the tannoy. Save that for the opposition. As I posted earlier, Bennett wouldn’t have been my choice as captain but I can understand why he got the nod. Incidentally, the ‘club captain’ doesn’t necessarily start every game. Exhibit A being Charlie Mulgrew earlier this year.
  9. If you think booing one of our own because he has been handed the captain’s armband is okay then you crack on mate.
  10. Brilliant! And in a similar vein, the late Brian Johnston was commentating on TMS for an Ashes test in (I think) the 80s when Steve Waugh, fielding at short leg, took one in the nether regions. After lengthy treatment he said “And Waugh is off to long leg to lick his wounds” which was greeted by about a minute’s laughter (and zero commentary) from the TMS booth.
  11. Then please stay away. Rovers don’t need ‘fans’ like that.
  12. I would have gone with either Lenihan or Johnson myself but it’s not difficult to see why he would choose Bennett. Bit of an overreaction to throw the toys out of the pram on this issue if you ask me.
  13. Mowbray should play his strongest team tomorrow. Whatever that is.
  14. Gene Chandler - Duke of Earl
  15. Secret Affair - Time for Action
  16. I do indeed mate! Syl Johnson - Black Balloons Edit - this one is for you @Audax I know how you like a bit of great music.
  17. Couldn’t agree more Tony.
  18. He’s not just an ex Celtic player, he’s a ‘Celtic man’. Two totally different things. I think the modern description is ‘Celtic minded’. i’ve spoken to Charlie often enough to know he would never consider joining Rangers.
  19. Was just talking about this tune with my partner last night Mark (she’s a musician) - it was the theme to Van der Valk wasn’t it? Anyway back to the game. Blur - Parklife
  20. If ever a post managed to put things into perspective it is this one. Andy and Gary would be proud to read this adopted scouser. Sorry for your loss and RIP Andy.
  21. Take a bow mate, made me laugh on an otherwise depressing Saturday evening.
  22. The “blazing argument” part of this is entirely believable - things like that happen on training grounds every day. The “wanted to go to Rangers” part of it is pure invention I’m afraid.
  23. I have a feeling this thread will be busy over the next couple of hours.....
