I think we are onto a whuppin here. Su derland seem to score for fun and we ship em for fun. 3-0 to Lemon Drizzle United. Sunderland have 3 shots on target where as we spur about 5 gilt edged chances.

I always thought Wilcox was a decent player but remember sarcastic shouts of "give it Jason" from the Blackburn End when were attacking.
Look at your mail.

Like I said well in advance of the game, first team to score would win this fixture.
I thought we were very good in patches, and bafflingly bad in others. Dolan's early miss reminded me of a game I played in 40 years plus ago in Clitheroe, where I'd been put up front as a makeshift striker (my normal position was goalie) and a looping cross came in from the right, to me loloping forward to the 6 yard area totally unmarked. Our 'trainer' (a phsyio called Jack Blackledge who worked at Brockhall Hospital for many years) said quite distinctly 'He'll miss' which of course I duly did - almost identically to poor old Tyrhis, getting under the ball, and heading it ignominiously over the bar.
As a goalkeeper, those type of crosses are a nightmare (slight outswingers) but as a makeshift / makeweight striker, the amount of time you have to watch the ball coming to your head is even worse. That kind of cross needs to be met by someone with the strikers' instinct, otherwise it is more likely it is going into row Z. Dolan isn't a striker, in the Craig Bellamy, Alan Shearer, Simon Garner, David Speedie, Paul Dikov or Roque Santa Cruz mould. That's FO SHO!
Anyway, we won. We deserved to win. JDT is a genius. And Semir Telavic is the new Shefki Kuqi 🙂
BRING ON THE DIVES !
Always liked Shefki.

Great win, they're all great wins but as most have said, we didn't half make hard work of it.
I'm feeling it for Dolan to be honest, he maybe needs taking out of it for a while, that was an absolute sitter, although from my angle, Gallagher's looked like it was a bit behind him and wasn't as gilt edged.
Pears got away with one, but made some cracking saves, especially late on when he definitely got his angles right in a one on one to win the match. On the whole he had a great game to bounce back well.
Szmodics could, should have had a hat trick but what a performance. He epitomises what a fan wants a player to give.
I've aleays felt Dolan does better off the bench than he does starting. Been tellin ya, gone to his head already with this lad.

Boro struggling, so what do we expect. 1st game back and a charitable donation for Carrick to take the pressure off. Would love to see us hammer them but odds on O Brien notching a winner.

Saints are a mess. Look more porous than us at the back.

Well Mr Hedges, it has taken 127 days but you are now officially forgiven.
Strange how Hedges gets hammered for that yet no one mention Pears not killing any time right before that. Pears handles it right and the Hedges thing would never have happened.

In hindsight, yes, but it takes a brave 19 year old in his second start to grab the ball out of the hands of one of the most senior players.
For some reason I think this kid would have relushed it AND put it away. We will never know for sure.

Hey! No picking on "Ciccio" ; he tried his best & if the goal against Barthez had counted his story might have turned out very differently. Besides, those were happy times for us for the most part.
Inalways thought that too, it WAS a good goal and that could bave changed things

Did not get to watch much so can't comment much, I saw their goal and Sammy having a bit of a mare, saw his first, glad for him. Good comeback, would not have been last season. I did see their keeper taking liberties with time, taking the piss really, and nothing was done. Did the new rules exclude keepers?

Lads - we don't know each other or even a whole lot about each other but we're all here aren't we, so we have that much in common. Best of luck to both of you. 💪
I think some.of our long time posters have a bit of a kinship, from the times we (EiT was it?) made copies of Rovers games.and mailed it all over America, sort of a bond of sorts. Loved your positivity

What a good game of football that was. These extended (actual) stoppage ti.es are going to be the death of me if we are up by one. First half I thought we were 2nd best, West.Brom looked good, sharp, good movement skilled players with beef. Was still scratching me head how we were 2 up at half time. What ruthless football, I think we saw a chink and exploited it with almost carbon cooy goals, both good finishes. Tronstadt, did not know he was olaying for a bit but two lovely forward passes gave me encouragement for future, him and Wharton will gather some assists when the forwards click on which run to make. We.are.going.to slice open some defences I think so our forwards need to be able to finish.
2nd half I think we were fitter,.we turned it on as they.faded.some very nice exciting football played then.by.us they came back into it some when they introduced fresh legs but we.mamaged the game better. Pears has learned from his gaff of returning the ball too quickly instead he burned as much time as he dare. Enjoyed the game despite the stress levels may we have more of, liked Leonard since his first cameo, he seems to have something about him. Great finish, I'd bet me house Gally does not score there. Gally is not even in the right spot likely.

Just watched the replay and after the posts I saw on here regarding Dolan being no good I kept a closer eye on him than usual and I gotta say I thought he played just fine, couple of mistakes but nothing deserving of the criticism I saw on here.

I have found the games quite entertaining. Slower than the mens game but just two footy teams going for it. No rolling around no harrassing the ref no play acting bit like the men's game used to be.. I like it.

Anyone remember Forest 1-4 at home last season?
Markanday stood out to me that day. Never gave the ball away and excellent close control dribbling.
The couple of times I saw him he had impressive moments to me.I was surprised to see him first frozen out then shipped off. If sitting on the bench in Scotland did not serve as a wake up call nowt will. Was highly rated coming here but has not clicked yet. Hopefully this season is a rebirth.

After being mostly billed as not good enough or consistent enough for Manchester United for the past several years, I'm having a bit of a chuckle at David de Gea being described as a legend in social media circles now that he's left.
I think they held on probably 2 seasons too long.
