I was just told on Saturday by a chap who’s very involved with the academy side of things at the club, doesn’t work at the club, but attends every game and knows people who are involved in the set up and he’s been told it’s being downgraded to cat2, as cat2 means the club don’t have to spend the same level of money but can still play similar level opposition.

Academy is being downgraded to cat2, thoughts people?

It may have been discussed, however how do people think about the academy being downgraded to Cat2? I thought that was venkys baby and they would always fund it? And to be fair the academy has been one of their very few successes

I got mine today and they said there was quite a few left, so presume the initial 2000 has sold out and they have asked for more, so if they shift a few more tomorrow and a few walk ons we could have around 2300 there.

I’m not assed what anyone says, that was another crap performance. Created naff all, again, I don’t care if they have better players, we should be performing better, the terriers won there a few weeks back, and we are man for man better than them. Bugger? Was that the rear end of the stadium? I get what Matt was saying, but it’s pretty irrelevant, they wouldn’t fill a much bigger stadium on a long term basis, and the other poster stating the catchment area, again, irrelevant mate. They will never attract massive crowds. okay they could build a bigger ground with say a capacity of 20k, and they’d fill it in the EPL, in big games, but bar that they won’t fill it and it would cost them millions upon millions, and I’m confident Bournemouth will become pretty irrelevant once again in the next few years. They’re a small club and always will be.

Their ground holds 11k, and they have plenty of empty seats every week in the championship. Build their ground bigger as much as they want, but in this league they won’t get more than 9.5k home supporters.

They should never have close the Darwen end to home fans. So what if there was only 800-1000 max at anytime. It generated atmosphere, and at times like now, people like that, the ones who like a song song and will be encouraged by some positivity for the first time in years (I’m not counting that joke of a season in league 1), they will come In some decent numbers, but now you look at ewood and it’s dead, no atmosphere at all, it’s simply boring.
