The commentator was really good I thought, he actually made and effort to learn our players' names and their backgrounds etc. The coverage was better than what we get on ifollow with replays and different angles. I would imagine that the full game will be on Southampton's YouTube channel later on for those that missed it, definitely worth watching.

He looked really good apart from his goal, held the ball up well and worked his socks off. A really good performance again.

And I will trust my judgement over your's ... your post gave people the impression that Doyle is ready for first team football, he isn't. He didn't carry out his role to perfection, I can't remember one cross he put in or him standing out defensively, that is not perfection. I never said that these lads are the finished article, they aren't, I said that the vast majority aren't ready to play in the first team yet, they aren't. Using Mahoney as an example of someone that has made the step up is poor, he's done nothing in his career to date.

He isn't ready. The bloke above you saying Doyle carried out his role to perfection is so unfair on him as it puts unnecessary expectation on him to make the (massive) step up. Although last night was a good team performance, I specifically went to see if any of the players were good enough to play for the first team at this moment in time, and there was only 2/3 that would even possibly be ready. Tomlinson doesn't read the game well enough yet and often mistimes his tackles and interceptions, he could do with going out on loan to League 2 for 6 months and get some real games under his belt. What I will say though, is that we could do worse than giving Damien Johnson the first team job.

He is definitely a strange player, he doesn't look like a footballer at all, flat footed, long arms, yet I thought he played quite well.

They played 3-4-2-1, so a bit different to the 5-4-1 on Saturday, but they actually look like they are well drilled and know how to play it. Mols does look decent, works hard and has a bit of pace, looks like he can put a cross in as well. Nuttall is very raw but definitely has something about him. Tomlinson didn't stand out, and I can now see why his first team opportunities have been limited. Jack Doyle isn't ready yet so we certainly need a new left back before the window shuts. I was very impressed with the middle centre half, Platt, he is definitely no worse than Ward and deserves a go.
