  1. Crouch? Doesnt really fit the young and hungry looking to make a step up. Wages would be big too.
  2. The man certainly has a plan. Lets hope the V's give him what he needs so we can get started on this transfer window quickly. Adulakan and Otzhumer on frees are no brainers no matter what the budget is.
  3. For the unsympathetic sympathetic Claret. These were just some of the players brought in on impressive agents advice to get us back to the PL....look how their careers have turned out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edinho_Júnior https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diogo_Rosado https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Jorge_Gomes_Pereira https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuno_Henrique_Gonçalves_Nogueira https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fábio_Alexandre_Silva_Nunes This is without including Jerome Andersons own son who now plays for some pub team.
  4. Well he did spot him and bring him in but I think that is one of Bowyers strengths due to his history with the youth team, he could spot a player and certainly made some decent profits. Bowyer at that time lacked a bit tactically in my view and this is where it cost him. That squad he had that he failed to even get into the playoffs was actually quit criminal but it was down to his style of play and tactics. Cairney had the technical ability and the talent and was also a fairly inteligent player, if the side was built more to his strengths rather than him being shunted out of position, we could have been in Fulhams shoes right now. On a side note, a Cairney type player is exactly what we need next to Smallwood.
  5. Anyone saying Cairney was rightly sold should give up this football lark. he wasn't consistent, wholly agree but then again he was not used right. He was suited to CM but with a Smallwood type player alongside him to do the gritty stuff - we had Lowe and Williamson. So instead, he was shunted wide which was never his position. Even there he banged in some pearlers and was the difference in some games. The talent was always there and I just knew he would go on to become a Premiership player.
  6. Also, we had just come down from the PL a year or two before and were seen as one of the bigger clubs in the division at the time with a good shot at going up. This would have tempted this type of player more than a club promoted from League 1. Cairney and the likes probably would have not signed for the likes of Burton, Rotherham or the like at the time. We have come up and need to consolidate, so TM's approach seems like a good one. Pluck the cream from the division below, throw in a bit of champs experience in and hopeully we can progress. Might be a reason why TM plans to keep hold of Conway.
  7. The fact that he mentioned pacy wingers first - should we assume that is his top priority? Hope so.
  8. Least of our worries, the Canadian and Fisher should be enough as backup.
  9. “That doesn’t mean experienced players on big salaries, it means players that we believe can fit in to this group and bring the assets and qualities from their games to our team whether that be speed out wide, guaranteed goals up front which is difficult to do, tenacity in midfield, passing in midfield, competition in the full-back areas or another central defender, I think we need to do that. Pretty much sums up the areas that most of us has said needs strenghtening.
  10. Makes our sale of Cairney that even worse seeing him now. Fantastic left foot and close control. Only downside was that my missus fancied him rotten.
  11. When does fit lady season start? Might do a Dacky and lurk in the corner.
  12. Depends on the summer activity. A bit of strengthening that adds to the feel good factor could get us mid-table. Millwall and Sheff Utd for example. Do a Bolton and sell your best player and not bring much in of note - then ill be worried (still they just about survived).
  13. I wouldnt bet against us messing that up though.
  14. haha..better teams than us will be wishing they could pick him up. He is the type of player where class is permanent, was still featuring for Barca alot this season. One word - Tugay. Reckon he would be the perfect foil for Smallwood... Joking of course, no chance in a billion years.
  15. Yup - hungry players that want to improve and play at a higher level. Standout players int he league below. That mixed in with some experienced Championsjip iplayers is the way to go.
  16. We can only rise from where we were and that is not me dumbing us down as a mid to lower championship club. We should not have been in the Championship let alone League 1 but were put their through some horrendous decision making and extremely poor ownership that was badly advised by some of the lowest scum of the earth. I just do not want it to get any worse than it already is and would be more than happy with some sensible investments and decisions made. Anything that will take this club in a forward direction is fine by me right now - going the other way has me fearing the worst for the absolute future of this club. To answer Biz, Promotion to the Prem and consolodating - would that turn the feelings towards the Venky's? Not completely but you would have to give them credit for how they have run the club the past couple of seasons. It would also be the ideal scenarios for them as they would recoup a good chunk of what they had lost and could then feck off.
  17. Of course we will be surprised but this is all we have right now! Will be a boring summer if we cannot talk about who we would like, who will be available etc...might as well just shut the board down until August. Iniesta on a free anyone?
  18. Good spot...thinning out his contract so that he earns more but over a longer period on a lower monthly wage. He will struggle to get another contract elsewhere next season - especially anywhere near what we are paying him.
  19. I'd be confused as we already own him ; ) Nah, good way of looking at it - do not agree its a good move if only for sentimental value.
  20. They didnt strengthen and also sold their star player Gary Madine to Cardiff. Only brought in half a dozen out of contract players. This is why I really hope we are given at least a little bit of money to invest and also keep hold of our better players.
  21. https://twitter.com/TheFLZone/status/994993095220527105 https://twitter.com/TheFLZone/status/994993095220527105
  22. He is also one of the best finishers I have seen in quite some time at the club. The boy rarely misses the target. I think he will surprise quite a few that are doubting him to perform in the Championship. If he cannot perform being our best player, what does that say about the rest of the squad? He wont be sold - Not this season anyway. The season after once he has proved himself in that league is the one I worry about more but at the same time, the money for him will be huge.
