The problem Newcastle have is attracting said players. They have the dosh for sure, but players will be heistant to sign for a club that might be in the Championship next season. It's not completely beyond the realm of possibility that we could sign Van Hecke and Khadra although unlikely if they continue to perform. Brighton has been hoovering up young talent for a few seasons now and currently has 18 or so players out on loan. 7 of them in the Championship (6 playing for top 6 clubs). Thats a lot of players competing for limited spots in the Brighton full team squad. The plan has to be to strengthen sensibly but with players hopefully good enough to keep us in the PL but also far too good for Championship level - so we have a strong chance of coming straight back up if we go back down. This is a model alot of clubs do. Its not easy but a fine balance. Overspend on trash and you're straight back to where we were the last time went down from the PL.
